In this vast and ever-expanding universe, it's rare to find deep and meaningful conversations, to find people who yearn to explore the mysteries of existence and to contemplate the complexities of the human condition. And yet, it's precisely through such conversations that we're able to shed light on the shadowed corners of our souls, that we're able to find solace in the shared experiences of others, that we're able to glimpse the beauty that lies beyond our own lives.
I'm an introverted individual with a love for the arts, literature, philosophy, and all things profound. I've always been driven by a thirst for understanding the world, like a kid in a candy store, except instead of candy, it's deep discussions that make my heart skip a beat. Lookswise, I have a slim physique but my mind is a behemoth of curiosity and wonder, churning with tides of questions that even Google can't answer, as I'm constantly seeking answers to everything. And standing at 6 feet tall, I'm pretty sure that makes me the perfect height for contemplating the infinitely vertical possibilities of the universe.
By trade, I'm a humble worker, toiling away at a low paying job, yet my heart remains steadfast in its pursuit of understanding everything. I find solace in books, losing myself in the stories and theories, and I'm seeking to expand my knowledge and to see things I've never imagined before. I may not make six figures or have a six pack, but my mind is rich and robust with ideas about life, the cosmos, and everything in between. Who needs moolah when you've got the timeless works of great thinkers throughout history to lose yourself in? Besides, I hear the pages of books taste delicious when you're really hungry.
I hope to connect with like-minded individuals who share a similar passion for the things that truly matter in life. Rather than curling up to watch some Netflix we can curl up to read some Nietzsche. Though I wouldn't mind doing both. Netflix and Nietzsche anyone? Whether we converse of the works of world-historic figures, or of our own personal experiences and struggles, it's my hope that together we'll find meaning, comfort, and wisdom in our shared endeavors.
So if you're a seeker of truth, a lover of knowledge, and a fan of the profound, I invite you to reach out to me, so we can embark on a journey of the mind and the soul, as we get to know each other inside and out in our search for meaning. Let's dive into the unknown and revel in the richness of the human experience. Because the beauty of life lies not just on the surface, but in the depths of our hearts and minds, waiting to be uncovered and understood.

2023.03.22 17:31 1cte Make Myself Hire-able

I 24M graduated with a marketing degree in 2021. I currently have a client service job for an insurance company and hate it. I want to get into marketing as I had originally planned. Applying to jobs has been tough though. Do you have any skills, courses, etc. to make myself hireable? Along with that where to search for jobs and what to search? I’ve just been doing “entry level marketing” on LinkedIn but everything is either a scam or requires like 3 years of experience.

2023.03.22 17:30 prettyfuckinsus In a great place and also a bad place

Hey,
I'm a new social worker who recently graduated with my bsw. Started at an incredible and well funded non profit as a caseworker a few months ago. The accomodations are great, the pay is honestly criminal given that I have little experience. My coworkers are incredibly supportive, and my clients are honestly great to work with. I've done really well so far, and I've only gotten perfect evaluations from my supervisor.
I'm currently dealing with a mental health crisis. I have substance use issues, I'm late to work most days, I have lost so much weight because I don't eat, and I'm on the verge of a breakdown. I eat up sick days as soon as I get them because I'm exhausted after work and always in bed outside of work. I've contacted some places for mental health services but it has been months and everywhere I've gone is either full for months, or not available outside of my 9-5.
I want to keep doing well, but my body and mind are breaking down. I can't keep doing this, any advice? I know there isn't a quick fix, but my job may be able to accommodate me somehow, I just don't know what to ask for.

2023.03.22 17:29 Rural-Camphost I’m applying!

Alright guys! I’m going for it, I’m applying for a GS4 position in my area that I truly hope I get hired for. I already manage a campground and the position is for recreation technician. I feel confident in my resume and references, however I did put not to contact my current supervisor because I don’t want them to know I’m looking for other jobs . Is there any advice you lovely humans can give me? I have until the 30th (closing) to adjust my resume and there’s an event tomorrow evening I’m going to about the hiring. In your experience how long does it take before I get word that I may be hired? And then after that to start the job. I know it’s different everywhere just wondering what others experiences were with it! Thank you for any and all help, advice or encouragement you can give me! I love the job I have, I just am burnt out on living on site for the last five years!

2023.03.22 17:27 UnkeyedLocke Time for blunt honesty

I don't even know if this is the right thread, but I need to rant, so here I go.
I'm sick of the, "tell us why you wanna work here," question on applications. So sick, in fact, that I'm done with it. Here's my answer, copy-pasta'd into every application now.
"I want to work for your company because it offers compensation for services rendered and has an environment I find tolerable. I have no strong feelings either way for the company itself, and anything I might say to indicate otherwise is a lie designed to curry favor. I believe that a good portion of the reason why there is so much "trimmable fat" in every industry is because hiring managers put too much weight behind the question of "why do you want to work here," and prioritize corporate sycophants over seasoned professionals. I prioritize being amazing at my job and effective in my communications with peers and between collaborative groups, and put little effort in becoming spun up on the proper ways to suck up to management. You want to hire me because I'm awesome at what I do, I make sure each shot makes it between the goal posts, and I don't tolerate a slippage in quality for the sake of speed or quantity; not because I have a silver tongue coated in honey."
What do y'all think? Too honest?

2023.03.22 17:25 Awkwardturtle13 Landlord withholding Security Deposit Deposit after 21 days. Any Advice for those who have gone through the same thing?

I know this is not a legal sub, but I figured any advice from anyone who lives in the same city and has gone through the same thing could be be pretty helpful.
I was renting a converted garage(not sure if it's permitted) for pretty cheap, which is why I stayed there so long. The place was kind of a dump: cracked floors everywhere, cracked ceiling, windows that are very high up and super old/barely close, the main door didn't lock properly, one of the stove burner's doesn't work, the microwave crapped out and she didn't replace it etc. Lastly and most importantly, the closet area which is behind where the garage door is leaked every time it rained, which then allowed mold to grow on the wall and carpet. I was not aware of this until my move out as I had dresser's and clothes in there(which btw the mold ruined one of my dresser's). The shower is also very far past its life and was when I moved in, it's a plastic shower and the seals were coming undone and allowing mold to grow in there despite regular cleaning. Also, they did provide a space heather but there is no central heating. The ladder to the loft also came loose and nearly fell several times. There are several more issues.
The landlord lives in another state and rents out the garage and the main house. about 2 weeks ago they contacted me saying they were pissed because they found rats and it cost them $800 for abatement. There were absolutely no rats while I lived there, I am terrified of them so I would have said something. There have been contractors in and out since I started moving out( I had 3 weeks left on the lease so I slowly moved into my new place and let the landlords friend bring contractors, stupid I know, I was trying to be nice), so who knows if they left the door open/what they brought in there. Also, the place is located along the the alleyway, where there are garbage bins everywhere, and the neighbors have a bunch of chickens right along the fence line(Having chickens myself, I have read that they attract rodents because they love their food). Also, a mutual friend I have with the person in the front house mentioned they saw rats in their place. I'm pretty sure the rat problem is on my landlord to pay for as they can not prove it was my fault for the infestation.
They also tried to tell me that the wet carpet and mold in the closet is from an animal urinating in there, which is not true and I have pictures of the work the contractor had done in there before my lease was even up. They said they were going to send me a bill for this issue too.
It has been 25 days and after arguing with my landlord about giving my deposit back, they are now illegally withholding it and have not responded to my last message. I sent a demand letter yesterday. I did clean the place but I won't lie, it wasn't cleaned immaculately, but I did not damage anything. I dusted, vacuumed, scrubbed etc. but I wouldn't say it was as good as a professional job. I would have been fine with a cleaning fee if they would have sent me a receipt within the 21 days. The stove burner was broken when I moved in and I have proof of that, but they told me it cost them $300 to fix which is BS as I left them the part to fix it, I just didn't know how to do it myself. They said they will be billing me for that too.
What should I do besides take them to small claims? Can I report them to development services and request an inspection? If it's not permitted can I report them somewhere? Also, should I text their friend that was helping them to ask her to give me my deposit back? Idk I feel like that would be pretty embarrassing if my friend found out I was illegally holding my tenants deposit lol. I am worried about the next tenant as I met the potential next renter and she is a sweet younger woman in college and I do not want her to be taken advantage of as well when she goes to move out. Plus, knowing how cheap the landlord is, they are just going to paint over the mold and not fix the shower.

Thanks so much in advance for any advice!

2023.03.22 17:24 foilmanaleak Having issues getting pam_radius to work

I recently set up LDAP for all of our Linux servers (RHEL and CentOS). However, it looks like we are wanting to utilize RADIUS instead so that we can force MFA.
We have a Windows NPS server as the RADIUS server, which is currently working well with our networking equipment. This server checks against our AD servers for users.
On the server side, configuration looks good. On the client side, the configuration looks good as well, at least when I check it against official RHEL documentation (I'm starting off with our RHEL servers as guinea pigs).
I current have the following setup/have tried the following:
After attempting to SSH in with AD credentials, I see "access denied". What's also interesting is that we aren't seeing any traffic hit the Sonicwall when attempting to authenticate. However, we can see pings flow. So it doesn't look like it's even really trying to authenticate/leave the server.
Any insight would be much appreciated, as I've spent 2 full work days on this and I'd really like to make a decent impression at my new job.

2023.03.22 17:24 Southern-Soulshine Stephen Smith Case Files: The Report That Launched The Murder Investigation ~ FITS News

Stephen Smith Case Files: The Report That Launched The Murder Investigation

An old case file … and new leads.
by FITSNews March 22, 2023
All week, my news outlet has been releasing documents and other materials tied to our ongoing investigation into the July 8, 2015 murder of Stephen Smith of Hampton, South Carolina.
Today’s document drop is perhaps the most significant as it comes at an incredibly important moment in the ongoing investigation into Smith’s murder – which was prominently featured in the hit Netflix documentary, ’Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal.’
“Stephen Smith’s death has haunted a South Carolina community for years – but it was a Netflix documentary, released around the same time as the double murder trial involving a prominent family, that revived attention to the case,” reporter Andrea Cavallier noted for The (U.K.) Daily Mail.
To recap: Smith’s body was dumped in the middle of Sandy Run Road near Crocketville, S.C. in the early morning hours of July 8, 2015 – where it was discovered by a passing motorist (a tow truck driver) at approximately 4:00 a.m. EDT.
Initially misclassified as a vehicular hit-and-run, the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) opened a homicide investigation into Smith’s death shortly after the savage slayings of 52-year-old Maggie Murdaugh and 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh on June 7, 2021 at Moselle – the Murdaugh family’s 1,700-acre hunting property straddling the Salkehatchie River on the border of Colleton and Hampton counties.
Disbarred attorney Alex Murdaugh was convicted of those killings and sentenced to life in prison earlier this month.
There has been a lot of discussion as to what prompted SLED to open that homicide probe. Today, the public will get to view the file that led them to do so … the original 2015 S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) “Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team” (MAIT) report into Smith’s death.
Contrary to popular perception, SLED’s investigation into Stephen Smith’s death was not based on any evidence or information obtained at Moselle – but rather the agency obtaining a copy of the MAIT report.
“Anyone who reads that file knows it was not a hit-and-run,” one law enforcement source told me this week. “But even if it was a hit-and-run, it’s still a vehicular homicide.” As you will see, the Murdaugh name is ALL OVER this case file .pdf… and Smith’s mother, Sandy Smith of Barnwell, S.C., has made it abundantly clear she believes Murdaugh’s son, 26-year-old Buster Murdaugh was somehow involved in the murder.
Buster Murdaugh issued a statement earlier this week denying any involvement in Smith’s killing, decrying any suggestion to the contrary as a “vicious rumor.”
As I mentioned, the release of these documents comes at a pivotal moment in the investigation. This week, SLED chief Mark Keel confirmed to Sandy Smith that his agency was treating her son’s death as a homicide. Keel also told Smith’s new attorney, Eric Bland, that SLED was devoting additional resources to solving his murder.
. . .

FILE 1: SANDY SMITH’S LETTER IMPLICATING BUSTER MURDAUGH

FILE 2: THE FIRST AUTOPSY

FILE 3: THE HIGHWAY PATROL REPORT

. . .
Bland and his law partner, Ronnie Richter, are running their own investigation into Smith’s death. That inquiry includes the potential exhumation of Smith’s body for the purposes of conducting an independent review of the controversial autopsy performed on July 8, 2015 by Erin Presnell, a forensic pathologist at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
This news outlet published Presnell’s original autopsy report yesterday as part of our ongoing coverage of this case.
Presnell’s findings are what led to the official misclassification of Smith’s death as a hit-and-run – effectively shutting down law enforcement inquiries into other potential causes. Presnell reached her controversial conclusion even though there was zero evidence of a vehicular strike on the roadway where Smith’s body was found.
“I saw no vehicle debris, skid marks or injuries consistent with someone being struck by a vehicle,” SCHP trooper D.B. Rowell wrote in his report describing the crime scene. “We see no evidence to suggest the victim was struck by a vehicle.”
Another SCHP investigator who walked the scene found “no evidence of car parts or pieces” on the scene, and noted the location of Smith’s body in the middle of the roadway was inconsistent with a vehicular strike.
In light of this controversy, I have consistently supported the exhumation of Smith’s body and the independent autopsy review now being advocated by Bland and Richter. In fact I penned a column over a year ago on this very subject.
“It is abundantly clear an independent review of Presnell’s autopsy of Stephen Smith must be conducted … up to and including the exhumation of Smith’s body from its resting place in Gooding Cemetery in Crocketville, S.C.,” I wrote last February. “Such a drastic step may be the only way to start uncovering the truth.”
Uncovering the truth could lead us down some dark paths, though …
As I have noted in previous reports, Smith was engaged in what can charitably be described as “high-risk behavior,” including numerous illicit liaisons detailed in files extracted from at least one personal electronic device purportedly used by Smith (and in his possession) around the time of his death.
Bland and Richter have indicated they plan on investigating Smith’s communications in the weeks and days leading up to his murder. Will they be examining all of those files as well?
“Everyone assumed it was the Murdaughs,” one Hampton, S.C. source told me last fall. “But there were a lot of people in (Stephen Smith’s) little black book.”
There were, indeed …
And while SLED does not believe any Murdaugh family members were directly involved in Smith’s murder, the specter of the family’s influence still hangs over the investigation – including two individuals currently believed to be the top suspects in Smith’s killing.
Smith also spent much of the weekend before he died with an individual linked closely to Alex Murdaugh and convicted fraudster Russell Lafitte– a Hampton, S.C. convenience store owner by the name of Kash Patel.
“The only people he talked about was he was hanging around … the guy named Kash,” Sandy Smith told SCHP investigators during a July 17, 2015 interview. “That was really his only friends in Hampton.”
Smith added that Patel and her son had taken a trip to Hilton Head Island shortly before his death.
“The guy named Kash that owns the (gas station) right there in Varnville,” Smith continued. “Stephen used to talk about him, they … they were all friends. It was a group of them and they would go have parties or something.”
Patel was referenced by Laffitte in a February 24, 2022 deposition conducted by Amy Hill, a Columbia, S.C. attorney appointed to help oversee Murdaugh’s financial assets in connection with a pending civil case.
According to Laffitte, he and Murdaugh would cash checks at the gas station owned by Patel’s family.
“If I needed $1,000 to cash at 10:00 (p.m.) at night, I’d say, hey, Kash, I need you to cash a check for me for $1,000,” Laffitte said during the deposition. “He would do it.”
According to our sources, Keel called Bland on Tuesday to discuss progress made in the investigation – as well as to talk about the potential exhumation of Smith’s remains.
“SLED officials have revealed that they did not need to exhume Stephen Smith’s body to convince them that his death was a homicide,” Bland and Richter said in a statement. “However, they will be present and participate in any exhumation of Stephen’s body to gather more evidence. We are committed to finding out what really happened, and getting the peace and justice the Smith family deserves.”
This news outlet is also committed to finding out what really happened to Smith – which is more important now than ever given the factionalism that has been driving public discussion of this case.
“The job of a journalist is to follow the the truth … wherever it leads and however uncomfortable that journey may become,” I wrote earlier this month. “Anything less than that is a disservice to the truth and to the memory of all victims.”

2023.03.22 17:24 GSFFOOL Am I a failure? (M/21)

Hello, I'm a young adult who just turned 21 yesterday. Forgive me in advance if my English won't be as good because English isn't my primary language. Basically, I've worked for McDonald's for a month now, around December. Unfortunately, around December 29, I suffered from a serious accident on the way home while I was riding my bicycle which severely damaged my hand and fractured my pinky finger. Now supposedly, it'd have to be supported by like a metal insertion (i forgot what it's called lol) but long story short I didn't have the money for it because it was too expensive and had it casted instead. I live with my mom and she can support me very well with basic needs. My casting was removed after three months and after everything, I finally returned today at work. The jobs were simply too heavy and I had no place to recover well and now.. I think I overworked my injured hand. It has been aching for 10 hours now and I'm contemplating whether to still proceed or quit.
Here's the issue. I've had a call center job (customer service representative) last January 2022 which was a completely different thing. I worked there for three months and couldn't stand the toxicity of the environment so I left for the sake of my sanity. While I completely love the job in McDonald's, at my current condition, I think the only option would be to quit. Quitting would likely be the best logical option right now otherwise I won't recover. I'll need to enroll for a military school this year and we all know how tough it is to get in physically. Ever since my accident, my entire progress was lost and I couldn't even do a single push up right now without the risk of my hand completely breaking again. But.. even knowing this, I can't help but feel like a failure or a quitter. It reminds me of what had happened exactly around these months a year ago and it's not making me sleep. I'd appreciate advices and suggestions. 🤝

2023.03.22 17:24 sciencer0ckz Feeling lonely with my FWB situation

So I (M27) started this FWB situation with a good friend of mine (F44). I am studying in a foreign country, and we are classmates. Which is how we first met. I grew up really religious so I was a virgin before I met her. We were good friends for a while. She expressed interest in me first through a mutual friend, which freaked me out because I was 23 at the time, and as I said a virgin. But over time I warmed up to the idea and then we tried something about a year ago. She is divorced and has two young kids. It started out the perfect situation. She agreed to keep it a secret from our other friends which I liked because it allowed me to explore without there being any consequences from my family, who are insanely religious. But over the course of a year and a half, we have gotten pretty close. There is still no possibility of it going anywhere since our situations, and also because we are both moving to different countries in a few months after we both graduate. Which is good for me. I want to eventually find someone that I can start a family with. So the arrangement is still good, even though we have become close.
However, I am beginning to feel tensions. Like I feel like even though she says that I am one of the closest friends she has right now, she treats me with less consideration than she does all of her female friends who are less close to her. She doesn’t have any other male friends. I mean I even feel that recently she is less considerate to me than before we ever started doing anything. Like she has more obligations than I do since she has a family and all but still I feel like I make sacrifices to meet up with her since she lives in a different city, but she never tries to reciprocate. And recently she has been really uninterested in hanging out with me at all. I asked if there was something going on and she said she was just stressed and busy with figuring out everything for the move she has to make in a few months. Which I understand. But also, she seems to hang out with her other friends, just not me. Which kind of hurts a little. Also, about a half a year ago, she got to the point where she would just complain nonstop about her ex, who she still deals with a lot because they are coparenting. And a lot of what she complains about is how he argues with her and stuff like that, and then she will say she is glad that I am not like that. Which is fine but I feel like it puts me into a place where its hard for me to confront her about stuff. Also she has been really down and kind of fragile emotionally the last few months, so I feel like I can’t just tell her about my complaints, because I know she would not take it very well. And we only have two months before we graduate and go our separate ways so it kind of seems not worth it at this point.
So I am kind of stuck in this place where I feel like she doesn’t desire me/want to hang out with me anymore, but also where I feel like I can’t talk to her about it. And I mean technically we don’t have obligations to each other. And I can’t talk to my friends about it because we have a deal to not talk about our arrangement with them. And I can’t talk about it with my family, because they can’t know about the situation or there will be blowback. And I already have a small group of friends here since I am in a foreign country. And to make matters worse, a few weeks ago my best friend died while we were working at a foreign hospital. I was responsible for a lot after that like bringing his belongings back to his family and tomorrow I MC his memorial service at my school. So between not hanging out with the person who I am now closest to (my FWB) and also not being able to talk about my relationship woes with anyone, I am just feeling really lonely. In a few months I’ll be back to the US, hopefully with a job. And then things will be ok. But in the meantime, it just sucks.

2023.03.22 17:24 Psychological_Dot541 VA Benefits at Risk

Your VA Benefits are at risk of being eliminated to answer the federal deficit problem.
https://www.cbo.gov/budget-options/58631
What it proposes:
To reduce spending by cutting disability compensation paid by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
How will this be done?
By capping Veteran’s Household (HH) income.
Exceeding HH income would mean a measured reduction* or absolute loss** of future VA disability benefits.
More than a few disabled Veterans depend on their benefits.
We should not be relegated to fit into an earning bracket. As a group, we earned the benefits we so greatly deserve by donating our lives, our youth, and our very health to support the defense of the USA.
The Congressional Budget Office’s demonstration of attention to such a shrewd proposal is a slap in the face for former military spouses and all veterans families.
To support a service member as a spouse often means being held back maintaining a competitive space in todays’ job market. This was especially true for any spouse who put a career or educational goal on hold to support their spouse or partner service-member. Yet, with this proposal, even a former military spouse will need to self impose holding back in their efforts as contributing HH wage earners.
If this is concerning then we will need to make it clear to our public officials.

2023.03.22 17:24 imgrendel Doctors’ Reluctance to write Nexus Letters

I feel like getting a Nexus letter is a Catch-22. I have read in forums here and Facebook that the VA doesn’t like the Nexus producing companies, but what choice do Veterans have?
I approached my long time ENT who is an Air Force Veteran. He wouldn’t even consider doing a Nexus. He doesn’t want to be bothered. He had his office manager tell me to go to the VA for one.
I had an annual appointment with my sleep doctor and even though I am not ready for their Nexus, I casually asked if they do them. They said no, it’s my primary care doctor’s job. Both my sleep doctor (Pulmonologist) and my primary care doctor belong to the same very large health system. I sent my primary doctor a message about what the sleep doctor had said and she said that she didn’t do them either. So I asked her if anyone in their system did them or if it was a system policy. Her Chief Medical Officer said no one did them and said that my disability lawyer would have someone. I don’t have an attorney, nor should I need one at this point.
My dermatologist was receptive but was told by her supervisor to have their lawyer approve her doing one which leads me to believe they will say no. At least, she was willing to try. She’s a PA
It’s not like so didn’t offer to pay any of them for their time.
So if I have to find an IMO doctor and pay them to write one, I’d want to find someone who knows how to do Nexus letters rather than someone who does it for workman’s comp. This leads me back to how the VA supposedly hates these companies. Catch-22.
I’ve seen posts positive and negative about Prestige Veteran Medical Consulting. I just saw one for American Medical Experts. I’ve even seen a supposed VA IMO blacklist from 2018(?). I have an email out to my VSO who works for my county for recommendations.
I think in theory that the VA heavily preferring a letter from the treating doctor sounds great. I’d prefer that as well as my doctors know me. Conversely, even if they were willing, they would have to spend time learning how to do the Nexus letter and the process to feel comfortable even after I provide Nexus letter samples and information.
Any recommendations for a good reputable Nexus provider? Any to avoid? I don’t think I saw a list in the group files. Sometimes the provider is great on some issues but not on others. I’ve done some searches multiple groups. I’d like to stick with the good and avoid the bad and the ugly. Obtaining a Nexus appears to be an issue that a majority of Veterans encounter.

Recap of 2022

Finishing Position: 9th
Played: 14, Won: 4, Lost: 10
CSK's 2022 season was a hot mess. There were injuries galore. Key players like Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan and Ravindra Jadeja went missing in action. And to top it all off there was a captaincy conundrum with Jadeja starting the season as skipper and MSD returning back mid-way. When they lost, they often lost big. They managed to avoid the wooden spot only because MI had an even worse season.

Top Run Getter Ruturaj Gaikwad 368 runs
Top Wicket Taker Dwayne Bravo 16 wickets

Preface to 2023

  • Talk of the Town
In the vocabularies of most CSK fans "Chennai Super Kings" and "Mahendra Singh Dhoni" are exact synonyms. Therefore, amidst the apprehensions that this could be his last season as a player, they'd want a triumphant and iridescent farewell for their Thala. And if, unlike Shane Watson's conjectures, this does happen to be Dhoni's swansong, how and to whom is the baton of leadership passed will be another thing to keep an eye on. This is one of the many reasons why Chennai fans are excited about Ben Stokes.
CSK fans are unapologetically proud of the consistent record their team has. Only twice - 2020 and 2022 - have CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs. The last time it happened, the team bounced back and won the trophy in the season that followed. So, just like how parallels are drawn to 1992 and 2009 every time Pakistan plays in a World Cup, don't be surprised if CSK fans passionately keep bringing up 2021 this time around.

  • Jersey/Kit for the season
If CSK was a person, they'd be the routineer who goes to the same restaurant every weekend, sits on the same table and orders the same dish every particular time. While other teams tend to launch a new jersey every season, CSK wore the same outfit from 2008 to 2020. They made a first subtle change in 2021 and have made another subtle change now. (See the parallels to 2021 have started already!)

If you look closely, you'd see the subtle pattern in the base of the shirt Ambati Rayudu is wearing

Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, Shivam Dube and Deepak Chahar sporting the new jersey during an ad-shoot

  • Fixtures for the season:-
Chennai Super Kings will play the opening match of the season on Friday, March 31st against defending champions Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad. The teams they play twice are MI, RR, DC, KKR and LSG. Their only games against PBKS and SRH would be in Chennai, while the ones against GT and RCB would be away fixtures.

CSK's fixtures for the 2023 season

  • Expected Home Ground Conditions:-
The M.A. Chidambaram stadium has historically been a spinner's sanctum. The ideal strategy here has always been to bat first, score big and then allow your spinners to choke the opposition. This modus operandi gets further more bankable in day games as the afternoon heat in Chennai is usually scorching and takes a bit out of the team fielding first. CSK host SRH and PBKS for day games this season.
It's not a particularly high scoring ground (with the odd exception). The average T20I score in the 1st innings here is 159, whilst that in 2nd innings drops to 119. Of the 20 innings played here in IPL 2021, the score of 160 was breached only thrice.

  • Updated Squad
MS Dhoni (captain), Ben Stokes✈️, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali✈️, Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway✈️, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Kyle Jamieson✈️ Sisanda Magala✈️, Nishant Sindhu, Shaik Rasheed, Subhranshu Senapati, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius✈️, Mitchell Santner✈️, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chowdhary, Matheesha Pathirana✈️, Simarjeet Singh, Maheesh Theekshana✈️, Bhagath Varma, Ajay Mandal, Prashant Solanki, .

Likely First Choice XI: 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad 2. Devon Conway✈️ 3. Moeen Ali✈️ 4. Ben Stokes✈️ 5. Ambati Rayudu/Shivam Dube 6. Ravindra Jadeja 7. MS Dhoni (c & wk) 8. Dwaine Pretorius✈️/Maheesh Theekashana✈️/Mitchell Santner✈️ 9. Rajvardhan Hangrekar 10. Deepak Chahar 11. Mukesh Chowdhary/Simarjeet Singh IP Options: Tushar Deshpande, Subhranshu Senapati, Ajay Mandal (Note: Impact player cannot be an overseas player if there are already 4 overseas players in the playing XI)

  • Major Strengths
(i) Depth in both departments: The presence of high quality allrounders gives CSK immense depth in both batting and bowling. Jadeja, Stokes and Moeen are three genuine bowling options who'd make the top 6 primarily on their batting skills. Whereas, their prime bowling options like Chahar, Pretorius and Santner are handy lower order batters. Sprinkle a little bit of Dube and Hangrekar and suddenly you have an XI with 8 bowling options and batting till number 9 or 10.
(ii) Flexibility: While Devon Conway has impressed one and all as an opener, he has even better numbers batting at 3 and 4 in T20Is (including a famous 99\ vs Australia).* Ben Stokes, who was a designated middle order batter for the WC winning England team, has an IPL hundred as an opener. Ambati Rayudu has been an opener as well as a finisher in the IPL. Pretorius, Moeen, Dube and Santner can virtually bat at any number. Having depth is one thing and flexibility is another. CSK has envious resources in both the aspects.
(iii) Leadership and Experience: By now, the importance of good captaincy in tournaments like the IPL is well appreciated. MS Dhoni's prowess in this regard is renowned enough. In fact, his performance as a skipper seem to enhance in his favourite kind of conditions: the exact kind that are expected at CSK's home ground. Moreover, even other than Dhoni, the team has wealth of experience to rely upon. Jadeja, Rayudu, Rahane and Moeen alone have a combined 1000+ T20s under their belt.

  • Weaknesses
(i) Death Bowling options: CSK would no more have the services of their talisman death bowler-Dwayne Bravo - in the middle. Whilst Pretorius is a bowler in the same mould, he hasn't done enough yet to be compared to the T20 legend. Similarly, young slinger Pathirana is fairly inexperienced. Stokes' recurring knee injury and the upcoming big summer of Test cricket might push him to be fussy about how much he bowls. Other seam bowling options - Chahar, Simarjeet, Chowdhary - are the ones that Dhoni invariably likes to utilise almost entirely in the powerplay. Hence they might struggle a bit to find designated players for the job of death bowling.
(ii) Rustiness among the bowlers: Pathirana and Theekshana will be missing the first 3 matches due to national duties. If they are picked for the T20s against Ireland and not given NOCs, they could miss three more matches. Deepak Chahar will be returning from a break due to injury, whereas Simarjeet Singh and Mukesh Chowdhary haven't played any competitive cricket since December 2022. Therefore "rustiness" could be a factor.

Game Plan: Possible Punts

  • Heir Apparent
Despite the mid-tournament u-turn last year, the mere fact that they named Jadeja as the skipper to begin with shows that they're looking for a successor. So even if Dhoni leads them through the entirety of the 2023 season, there might be subtle signs of succession that the fans would want to watch out for. Whether the reigns are officially passed on or not, certain nuanced moments could indicate who would lead CSK after MSD's retirement. While Stokes is a fan favourite, Chinna Thala Raina believes in Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ajinkya Rahane and Deepak Chahar could be outside contenders.

  • Role Clarity
The downside of having a first XI as flexible as CSK's is that multiple people can don multiple hats in different situations leading to obscurity in roles for some players. There have been the odd case where Dhoni stuck with a player in a particular role for too long yielding counterproductive results. However, his judgement has largely been astute. Once again he'd be expected to define clearcut roles for each individual. Bowling order for different situations being be the priority.

  • Local Players and their Impacttm
The biggest criticism CSK faced in their poor years was the misutilization of local talent. Many believed that players like Gaikwad, Jagdeeshan, Hangrekar, Sai Kishore and Senapati weren't given ample opportunities even after CSK were out of the qualifying race. IPL teams with successful seasons have usually got their local players to punch above their weight. CSK will know it themselves. Their handling of Ashwin, Jataki, Badrinath and Vijay in their early years is an example. Similarly MI getting the best out of Bumrah, Krunal, Rahul Chahar, Kishan, Surya etc. before they were superstars bore them glory. Hence, it would be interesting to see how CSK uses the likes of Mandal, Hangrekar, Deshpande and others. Remember, if the team is playing 4 overseas players already, the Impact Playertm has to be an Indian player.

Share this with CSK fans and feel free to express your thoughts in the comments. Stay tuned for Part 3: Mumbai Indians.

2023.03.22 17:20 EnigmaIndus7 How to get a job when you have PTSD?

So because of an incident that happened at work, I basically have PTSD (haven't had it actually diagnosed because there are no mental health professionals in my area that take Medicaid and I can't afford to self-pay for that).
I'm going to college now to hopefully get out of the cycle of crappy customer service jobs, but it's something I'll just have to deal with for the next couple of years.
I need a new job, but I'm really not even sure how to sell myself anymore or actually know it's a place I can fathom staying at for at least a year (best I've done in a long time is 9 months). I also struggle when potential employers ask why I left previous employers - mostly because the reason usually is my PTSD and I don't want to say that.
Any recommendations about this kind of situation?
