(Chapter 27-30 dictionary
here)
This will be another 2 parter with 4 chapters total, since I didn't post the days previously. It’ll be quite long again, so apologies for that. (I got hit with a nasty headache for a while, so I decided to take some time off before writing this. I’ll try to post chapters 35-38 in the next day or two. Like last time, none of that stuff will be referenced here for spoilers’ sake.) Anyways, a lot of fast and arguably terrifying developments in these chapters! This is where all of Lumian's suspicions start flooding in.
For the first part, I won't comment on the action scenes and the Lent festival stuff, instead looking at the mystical side of things. I'll also compile some guesses I've seen from readers. More specifically, I'd actually like to take a look at the padre, Guillaume Bénet. It seems that a lot of readers are speculating on what his abilities are and what pathway he's from, so I'll try to list out some observations about him. (It’ll be quite long, so apologies for that!) I'm also going to hash out the mechanics of the time loop, so any readers can better understand how the nature of the looping actually works. It might not be 100% accurate though, so feel free to add any corrections below.
The second part gives us a date for when the book takes place, and it elaborates on some content. I've also seen some interesting guesses from other readers. I'll be compiling those speculations there. Here we go!
PT. 1: C31-32
CHAPTER 31:
- I won't comment here since this is the initial setup of all the weird and rather unsettling events that ensue. Lumian does a lot of the observations himself here. (Also, it's not exactly that fun to try and dissect all of the mysteries when it leads up to the climax. Suspense is only fun when it stays suspenseful.)
- Good thing Reimund got dunked on during the Waterside Ritual and had to go home early, lol. Poor lad would’ve been subject to a horrible day…
CHAPTER 32:
EXCERPT 1:
Lumian was surrounded by *complicated silver symbols that coiled around him like small rivers.** He ran through an illusory river that was formed from these symbols, with blurry tributaries ahead of him.*
Guillaume Bénet reached out his right hand and grabbed *a mercury-colored symbol** that encircled Lumian.*
- Around chapter 18, I said I wasn't sure if the padre was a Beyonder. In this chapter though, he most definitely is one. We still don’t know if he was a Beyonder prior to when Lumian overheard him scheming, or if he somehow became one in the time in between these chapters. He seems to have mid-sequence abilities at the least.
- Anyways, I’ve seen a lot of readers speculate that Guillaume may be a Beyonder from a foreign pathway. As much as I'm aware that readers want to see something new, we’re still not sure and there aren't enough clues to prove this speculation at the moment. For now, it can be left open to interpretation.
- Another speculation I’ve seen seems more realistic of a theory: that Guillaume Bénet is a Beyonder of the Monster pathway. The colors and symbols in this excerpt seem to match up with that of the Wheel of Fortune pathway; that being the silvery coiling symbols.
- Some readers might remember that the Sequence 1 name is called Snake of Mercury. To add on, the mythical form of the Wheel of Fortune pathway is a silver snake with wheel-like patterns that connect to each other like a loop.
- This is quite reminiscent of the symbols mentioned in the excerpt. The mention of them being like “rivers” also reminds me of the “looping River of Fate” concept that was mentioned in Book 1.
EXCERPT 2:
Lumian stomped his right foot, preparing to hurl himself through the stained glass and out of the cathedral.
But he slipped and couldn't muster enough strength, and his body was sent flying.
With a loud bang, whoosh, and cracking sound, Lumian shattered the stained glass depicting Saint Sith, but **he failed to break through it and instead crashed back into the cathedral. **
- This part here seems to be attributed to the padre’s ability to manipulate luck and fate, which adds onto what I mentioned above. Based on this bit, it seems that Guillaume should be at least a Sequence 7 Beyonder. I’ll elaborate below.
- The Fate pathway’s Sequences 7-4 all have some type of ability that can bestow bad luck onto their enemies. In this case, Lumian tried to exit the cathedral by forcing himself out the window, but his luck was manipulated so that he slipped and messed up his send off. And since he couldn't exert enough strength into his body, he failed to break the glass window and escape. This would be bad luck for Lumian, but it’s good luck for Guillaume.
EXCERPT 3:
Pierre Berry charged at Lumian with the axe, his body seeming to grow taller and stronger with every step.
- A few readers seem to think that Pierre Berry may be a Beyonder of the Twilight Giant pathway, but it’s a bit difficult to tell. Regardless, I’ll elaborate below.
- Those who either have the blood of Giants or are of the Giant pathway are characterized as being quite tall; Beyonders who reach Sequence 6 Dawn Paladin will be at least 2 meters tall. In the novel’s context, Pierre might be extremely tall if he’s a Giant pathway Beyonder (or this might be a figure of speech from Lumian’s perspective.)
- The Giant pathway is also called the Warrior pathway, which means that a Beyonder of this pathway will gain great strength and proficiency over all weapons. The descriptions of Pierre holding an axe while growing stronger might be an allusion to this (or again, it could be a figure of speech from Lumian’s perspective.) He seems to have some pretty inhuman strength, though. For now, this can be left open to interpretation.
EXCERPT 4:
Padre Guillaume Bénet's eyes were nearly transparent, with Lumian's figure submerged in an *illusory river formed by shimmering mercury symbols.** In front of him, he saw something similar but more surreal, as if representing the future or a tributary.
After experimenting, Guillaume Bénet's right hand finally grasped the key pattern formed by multiple symbols.
With a single move, he could rewrite Lumian's future and render all his efforts futile.
- The first part is another description that matches up with the Fate pathway. It has descriptions of mercury symbols and illusory rivers, which again alludes to the symbols of the Fate pathway. The illusory rivers seem to allude to the looping River of Fate that was mentioned in Book 1.
- The second part talks about a key-like symbol formation. It seems to be some mystical symbol that can manipulate fate to a great extent, and it might be some type of prominent feature for the higher sequences of the Fate pathway. Of course, there’s too little information to tell right now. (This is just speculation on my part, but it reminds me of the Above the Sequence/Sefirot name for the Fate pathway: the Key of Light. We don’t know enough ATM though, so just treat this part as a fun little observation from me, lol)
- For the third part of the excerpt, it cements the fact that the padre can manipulate luck and fate to a great extent. Some readers in the Webnovel comments are speculating that the padre may be either: a Sequence 6 Calamity Priest; or a Sequence 4 Misfortune Mage.
- For the Sequence 6, they are prone to encountering calamities; but they can predict and thus use the calamity to their advantage against enemies, while mitigating the effects on themselves. For the Sequence 4, they can bestow misfortune on a certain area, and thus make their enemies unlucky by will. This excerpt could allude to either one of the sequences, but it’s difficult to tell which one specifically.
EXCERPT 5:
But suddenly, *the padre's eyes froze, and he let out a scream. His eyes shut tightly as blood and turbid tears streamed down his face.**
Amidst his scream, his body expanded like a balloon being filled with gas, and his white robe with golden threads cracked under the strain.
- This excerpt describes another trait that is specific to the Monster pathway. I’ll elaborate below.
SEEING AND HEARING: ADEMISAUL
- Some Book 1 readers might remember the boy named Ademisaul from way back in Volume 1. Many people called him a “monster” because he would scream and shout about horrifying things he has seen or heard. Some regular folks might have thought that Ademisaul was a madman or a “monster”, but he was like this because he was born with the blood of a Monster pathway Beyonder, and thus inherited some of the Beyonder characteristics that came from this pathway.
- Starting from Sequence 9 Monster, any Beyonder of the Fate pathway will often be able to see things they shouldn’t see, or hear things they shouldn't hear. So. they’ll be prone to madness and corruption if they’re not careful. In Ademisaul’s case, he became frightened after seeing the Sefirah Castle’s entrance from Klein’s body; he then also had a dream that spelled great disaster in the future. Of course, for someone who’s not even a Sequence 9 yet, seeing a Sefirot directly would bring great pain to him. His dream prediction of the events following Volume 1 was also quite true; that being the World War of 1350, as well as the Apocalypse that will come in 1368.
SEEING AND HEARING: GUILLAUME BÉNET
- In the padre’s case, it seems that whatever he saw in Lumian was of a similar level to what Ademisaul saw, and it seems to be caused by Lumian’s special trait. Readers are speculating on a few different answers as to what he saw, and I’ll list them out here:
- The first speculation is Sefirah Castle and the Fool Klein Moretti, since it’s speculated that Klein may be watching over Lumian through his Dreamscape.
- The second speculation is the City of Calamity sefirot, as some readers are speculating that Lumian’s Dreamscape might be connected to the City of Calamity in some way. This is also supported by Lumian’s Beyonder pathway being the Red Priest pathway, one of the precursor pathways that are a part of the Calamity of Destruction group.
- The third speculation is that it has something to do with an Outer God; many are speculating that it might have to do with the Circle of Inevitability (and maybe Calamity City by extension) somehow, but there’s too little information ATM to give a hard answer on this one. It can be left open to interpretation.
EXCERPT 6:
*But just as Lumian turned to leave, Guillaume Bénet, who was supposed to be dead, opened his eyes. *
They were bloodshot, and a sharp buzz split Lumian's head in half, the intense pain preventing him from screaming.
Everything shattered before his eyes, and he was engulfed in darkness as he lost consciousness.
- This excerpt will look at the weird anomaly that Lumian has found himself in; it seems that time has rewound and looped back to right before the beginning of the novel. (If anyone here has read Mother of Learning, there might be a bit of a déja vu here, lol. If you haven't, I totally recommend it.)
- Anyways, this is where things start to get a bit more… dubious. The abilities that Guilaume displayed here can only be accomplished by a Sequence 1 Snake of Mercury. (Maybe the padre is actually the third Sequence 1, or maybe he was somehow affected by the third Sequence 1. Again, it’s quite dubious so we still don’t know what’s going on here, yet.)
- For now, I’ll be describing 2 abilities in particular and how they might be linked to Dariège’s bizarre sequence of events.
CYCLE OF FATE
- The first ability is called the Cycle of Fate. With this ability, a Sequence 1 will be able to trap a selected group of people in an endless loop of events without them knowing, regardless of whether they die or not.
- One example of this was back in Book 1, when Derrick Berg and his exploration team encountered a mural of the True Creator and Tail Devourer Ouroboros - a Sequence 1 of the Fate Pathway. The mural had a looping River of Fate on it, which trapped the group in a constant cycle of exploring the True Creator’s temple in the Forsaken Land of the Gods. Derrick wasn’t even aware of the loop until Klein pulled him into Sefirah Castle; he was then able to recall previous loops and stay aware throughout the loops that came afterwards.
- In the context of Lumian’s predicament, it may be that the parts of Dariège have been looping without anyone knowing. Some parts are a bit inconsistent to actually match up with the Cycle of Fate, though.
- For example: when the Cycle happens, anything outside of the affected individuals should pass as normal. At the beginning of chapter 33 though, Lumian notes from Aurore’s words that time has reverted, and the weather of each day matches up with what he remembers previously. (Of course, the Cycle might actually be able to loop the weather of the affected area, but there’s too little information to know for sure.) For now, it’s a bit hard to tell if things have actually been looping, or if the villagers of Cordu don’t actually know that time has passed elsewhere.
REBOOT
- The second ability is the Reboot. With this ability, a Sequence 1 can completely revert the state of an entire region. This means that whatever events that take place before a Reboot will be completely invalidated and restored to an older state. (You can think of it like re-loading an older save file in a game.) In the novel’s context, it seems that whatever the padre did caused the entire region of Dariège to Reboot back to before the start of the novel.
- There are also a few inconsistencies with this ability as well, however. Time doesn’t actually reverse when a Reboot happens; it only reverts whatever is affected. This means that Dariège can be Rebooted, but time everywhere should still flow as normal. In this case, it might be that time is actually flowing regularly elsewhere, but the people inside Dariège are unaware of this fact. Like with the previous theory, it’s still a bit difficult to tell what is actually happening.
Anyways, the key part to remember from these descriptions is that time reversal isn’t possible; only the state of the region can be reversed, but not anywhere else. This means that while the Dariège region remains stagnant, other places outside of the region will keep marching on and changing as normal. So, any new developments that come from the outside could change what happens inside the loop.
With this in mind, it seems that readers are speculating that the foreigner trio (Ryan, Leah, and Valentine) might yield clues to how this whole looping/rebooting thing came about, since they originally came from outside the affected region. The letter that was cut from Lumian and Aurore’s livre bleu might also yield some clues once Lumian finds out who cut the letters. Others are also wondering if anything will happen to the telegram that Lumian sent out of Dariège.
(I hope this chapter 32 section helped to elaborate on the padre’s abilities and some other lore-related things that might be involved. If you’ve already read the later chapters, I hope this part aided in understanding how the time loop works in principle. As always, if there’s something I got wrong, or if you’d like to add onto the discussion, feel free to comment below.)
CHAPTER 31-32 SUMMARY:
PART 1:
- Lumian continues the Lent celebrations with all the youths in the village. He also checks in with Aurore about their plan to leave.
- Lumian's friend Reimund is sent off early due to being the last one to finish the waterside ritual. The group then continues off to the Cathedral for the final part of the Lent festival.
- As the final praises are being sung, Lumian realizes that something's wrong with the village: no one has praised their orthodox deity, the Eternal Blazing Sun, in a long time.
- The padre comes to the cathedral unannounced and confirms Lumian's suspicions about his strange plan. The Spring Elf Ava is then beheaded.
PART 2:
- All the young men in the cathedral are either driven mad or completely mortified by what has happened. Lumian engages in a fight with Guillaume Bénet and Pierre Berry.
- Lumian struggles against the padre due to his fate manipulation abilities. The padre almost triumphs over Lumian, but is halted after looking at him for too long. The padre sees something he shouldn’t, and his body is rendered immobile by thorny black symbols. Everyone in the cathedral is affected by the oppressive seal except Lumian.
- Lumian kills the padre, but is caught off guard when the padre’s corpse moves again. He then wakes up to find that time has somehow reverted back to before the Lent festival.
PT. 2: C33-34
CHAPTER 33:
EXCERPT 1
"Did you not take an afternoon nap? Are you still not fully awake? *It's March 29, 1358.** We still have a few days before Lent."*
- We finally have our time period for the novel! It looks like Book 2 takes place about 5 ½ years after the events of Book 1, which ended in the fall of 1352. The Apocalypse should be about 10 years away from now.
- From this point, we can gather that Lumian was born in the year 1339-1340, and that Aurore found Lumian within the year she transmigrated into the New World, around 1353.
- For reference, I’d like to add an image as to what the calendar dates of 1358 look like - assuming that leap years land on every year that is divisible by 4. They match up with the calendar for 2030, so I’ll be putting a 2030 calendar below. (If you’re wondering how I figured out the exact calendar when we’re this early in the novel, I actually figured out that the years 2021-2024 correspond with the years 1349-1352 way back when I was reading Book 1. I’m still not sure about leap years though, so I’ll fix it if the leap years are wrong.)
1358 CALENDAR (TENTATIVE)
EXTRA: TAROT CLUB UPDATED AGES:
- I’d also like to add a section here for all of the Tarot Club members’ updated ages, so that Book 1 readers can get a sense of how much time has passed for all of them. For reference, it’s been just under 9 years since the Tarot Club's founding, and about 5 ½ years since Klein went into his slumber.
The Fool - Klein Moretti/The World - Gehrman Sparrow:
- DOB [Date of birth]: March 4th, 1327
- Starting age [June 28th, 1349/Start of Book 1]: 22

- Current age: 34
Judgement - Xio Derecha:
- DOB: March 18th, 1328
- Starting age: 21
- Previous age: 24
- Current age: 30
I hope all these time correlations help with cementing when things happened and how long it’s been since the end of Book 1. It seems like the Tarot Club members have been busy for a while.
(NOTE: Speaking of ages… To any fandom wiki editors reading this, *Lumian’s birth date on his bio page (September 26th, 1340) currently doesn’t match up with the date in the book.** It says that he’s 18-19 in his debut description, but he would actually still be 17 if you line up what the wiki says with the novel. If he’s still supposed to be 18 now, and then turns 19 later in the year, it’s likely that he’s actually born in 1339 (if his birth month is still verified to be in September). I’m not sure where the source for his birth date comes from, so I hope that any editors who read this can review and fix that.)*
EXCERPT 2:
**She's really not dead… Lumian thought to himself as he looked at Ava's neck, trying to find signs of stitches.
In one of Aurore's horror novels, there was a scene where a corpse was stitched up to act as a living person.
- It seems that some readers have pointed out that Aurore is following in Roselle’s footsteps… by plagiarizing stuff from the modern era, lol.
- This section is likely based on the Frankenstein novel that was written by Mary Shelley in 1818. It’s a classic piece of gothic horror, so it’d make sense that Aurore would use it as a basis for a book. She’s probably used a lot more than this one, too…
EXCERPT 3:
Suddenly, he discovered a point that he had neglected previously because he was shocked by "time reversal."
He still had his superpowers!
He was still a Hunter!
- More observations! It seems that readers are trying to figure out why Lumian remained a Beyonder after the restart. It seems that his physical condition (i.e. his injuries from the fight) has been completely wiped away, so how is it that he still has his Beyonder abilities?
- Some readers have speculated that it’s due to his Dreamscape. Since Lumian sourced the main components of his potion inside the dream, and he became a Beyonder while he was inside, it could be that whatever physical changes that happen to him there are not within the affected areas of the restart. At the moment, there's not enough information to tell. (This will be partially answered later, but again, I’m not putting it here for any readers who haven’t caught up, yet.)
CHAPTER 34:
EXCERPT 1:
He realized that *the woman who had given him the Wand card and taught him mysticism knowledge was absent from Ol' Tavern*, preventing him from determining if he was dreaming or not.
- It seems that our mysterious friend isn’t affected by the time loop. Of course, if she’s a Tarot Club member like we think she is, she’ll have a few options to resist the effects of the Fate pathway.
- Like I mentioned before, the Fool can eliminate the effects of a Cycle of Fate and help an individual retain their memories over the course of multiple Cycles. It seems that the lady might've been blessed before coming to Cordu, so she can go about freely without being subject to the effects of a restart. She might also have her own ways of staying out of the loop while she's here, but we're not sure how, yet.
EXCERPT 2:
Upon seeing the white four-piece bed, Lumian's heart skipped a beat. He lifted the pillow and found the Minor Arcana tarot card representing the Seven of Wands!
[...]
Wait, hasn't time already turned back? *I haven't even met that lady or drawn the card. Why is it here?** Lumian was alarmed. He wasn't too confident about his previous guesses.*
[...]
In the end, Lumian decided to *treat the woman and the item she gave him as an "exception"** for the time being.*
With that lady's mysteriousness and uniqueness, it was considered normal for her to be unaffected by time reversal!
- This part will add onto what I said above.
- Along with our mysterious friend, it seems that the special item she has given to Lumian isn't subject to the loop, either. This may also be because the card has been blessed by the Fool somehow, so the Fate pathway has no effect on it. The lady is also a demigod, so she might also have some ways to trick the card out.
- It not only lets Lumian stay lucid in his Dreamscape, but will also allow him to retain his memories across restarts now, too. What a nifty item, huh?
CHAPTER 33-34 SUMMARY:
PART 1:
- Lumian confirms the date with Aurore; it seems to him that time has really reverted to before the Lent festival.
- He then goes to check on the Lizier family, and finds that Ava is still alive and well. He then confirms with the family that Pierre Berry has already returned to the village for a few days before the restart, which is suspicious for a Shepherd.
- Lumian bumps into Guillaume Bénet and finds that the man has no recollection of what happened before the restart. Lumian also notices that he still has his Beyonder abilities.
- He then goes to the Ol' Tavern in search of Ryan, Leah, and Valentine.
PART 2:
- Lumian repeats his first meeting with the trio, before leading them to the Cathedral to find the padre. This time, Lumian is more careful with how he handles the situation; he tips off all of the padre's adultering deeds to the trio before quickly extricating himself from the matter.
- Lumian then talks to Aurore about the cosmos on the rooftop again, before going to bed. He notes that the Seven of Wands card that he obtained from the mysterious lady is still on his bed.
- Lumian enters his dream, onto the find that the region has also looped back in time. He's lost all of his loot, and his weapons have returned to their original places.
- After gathering his weapons, Lumian does a survey of the ruins, confirming that time has also looped in his dream, somehow. While on his survey, he encounters the naked monster again. Compared to last time though, he kills the monster with ease.
That's it for these chapters! Again, I apologize for posting this late due to my break. I'm still working on the next dictionary at a (hopefully) more reasonable pace, and I'll probably continue to release these dictionaries in batches of 4 chapters for the time being to give myself more room to write things out.
In the meantime, I hope this helped refresh and frame certain things in a newer perspective. If you've already read the later chapters, I hope that this post helped to clear up any confusion you have about the whole time looping stuff.
Happy reading!

| Enterprise Groupe (TSX: E, OTC: ETOLF), a company specializing in equipment and services in the build-out of infrastructure for energy pipeline and construction industries, has shared solid positive earnings. These outstanding results will boost investors’ confidence, and upcoming investments in the oil and gas sector should help the company grab more market share. E.TO gained 40% YoY, a significant gain compared to S&P (-19.4%), Nasdaq (8.7%), and Dow (-9). https://preview.redd.it/lsfcsgurlbpa1.png?width=266&format=png&auto=webp&s=a249a6b0c701737bde915010b7afe150e9022e2d Oil & Gas Sector Overview The oil and natural gas sector is active in 12 of Canada’s 13 provinces and territories. Canada is sixth in the production of natural gas and fourth in the production of crude oil worldwide. The GDP of Canada receives billions of dollars from its oil and natural gas production, which also generates thousands of employment annually. Large amounts of these resources are found in Alberta, Canada’s top oil and natural gas producer. Around 80% of Canada’s total oil production comes from Alberta and natural gas can be found all over the province. However the oil sands are only in the northern part of the province. Predictions say the oil and gas industry will be worth $40 billion CDN on March 1, 2023, an increase of 11% from 2022. According to a Bank of Montreal estimate, Alberta will receive $28 billion in investments this year, or almost 70% of all investments made in Canada. According to CAPP (largest investor in environmental protection), the conventional and oil sands industries are the key drivers of investment growth. “The year 2023 may be one of the most pivotal moments in time for Canada’s oil and natural gas industry. With an emerging liquefied natural gas export industry, the expected completion of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, and billions of dollars in emissions reduction investments waiting to be unlocked, Canada is positioned to play a much larger role in providing responsibly produced energy resources to the world.” https://preview.redd.it/6syqqp3tlbpa1.png?width=977&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9e8c215e3f3a785f22e21e7f654e10724a90a8a Company Overview Enterprise Groupe (TSX: E, OTC: ETOLF), Inc. combines services, such as the renting of specialist equipment to the energy and resource industries. Predictions say the oil and gas industry will be worth $40 billion CDN on March 1, 2023, an increase of 11% from 2022. According to a Bank of Montreal estimate, Alberta will receive $28 billion in investments this year, or almost 70% of all investments made in Canada. March 22, 2023
Edible Garden Reports 10% Revenue Growth for 2022
Achieves Third Consecutive Quarter of Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth
Reports Strong Execution and Projects Turning Cash Flow Positive in 2023
BELVIDERE, N.J., March 22, 2023 — Edible Garden AG Incorporated (“Edible Garden” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: EDBL, EDBLW), a leader in controlled environment agriculture (CEA), locally grown, organic and sustainable produce and products, today provided a business update and reported financial results for the three month and full year periods ended December 31, 2022.
Mr. Jim Kras, Chief Executive Officer of Edible Garden, commented, “We are pleased to report that for the third consecutive quarter, since last year’s IPO, we achieved year-over-year growth in top-line revenue. We believe we have prudently deployed our capital, which has resulted in continued momentum and growth of the Edible Garden brand.”
“During a point in time when many businesses are struggling, we continue to expand our market penetration, perform consistently, and have kept our pricing relatively stable during a period of rapid inflation. Moreover, we expect to see an increase in margins once our Heartland Midwest facility is fully operational. Based on our current trajectory, we believe Edible Garden will turn cash flow positive later this year.”
“The Company continues to build out our nationwide distribution network by adding retail partners across the Northeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeastern regions of the country. Additionally, we are diversifying our product offerings to include what we expect will be higher-margin products and new product categories. Furthermore, Edible Garden’s Zero-Waste Inspired® mission continues to resonate well with environmentally conscious consumers, as well as our retail distribution partners, resulting in a growing demand for our products.”
“Our achievements in the fourth quarter included the introduction of three new salad kits featuring locally grown, sustainable, cut lettuce, along with all the ingredients required to make a complete salad. Additionally, we acquired the Pulp® line of all-natural, Non-GMO, preservative-free, sustainable gourmet sauces and chili-based products, which will be available at Whole Foods Market’s Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern retail locations in the summer of 2023. These fermented sauces are located in the refrigerated section of the supermarket, typically adjacent to the produce section, allowing us to leverage Edible Garden’s growing brand recognition within this new category of products. This is an important step forward for the Edible Garden brand, allowing us to offer what we believe will be higher-margin products, with an extended shelf life. It also provides us with the opportunity for a further expansion of our distribution network with the addition of Whole Foods Market. Moreover, we added Morton Williams Supermarkets to our robust distribution network in the Northeast, which has begun carrying Edible Garden’s produce and products in all of their locations in the New York Metropolitan area. In addition, we deepened our penetration with Gristedes and D’Agostino supermarkets, and significantly expanded our product placement within their combined locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Westchester.”
“Importantly, we are committed to leveraging the latest technologies to advance our strategy of increasing yields and maximizing the nutritional value of locally grown produce. The Company recently entered into a research partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the USDA, and the EPA, studying the impacts of nanobubble technology in a CEA environment. This EPA-funded partnership has the potential to revolutionize the industry, providing more nutritious plants with longer shelf lives, which could greatly benefit Edible Garden’s entire product line.”

2023.03.22 17:23 Basic-Cloud6440 Idea for Houndmaster in DD2
explanation:
since the implementation of the road to redemption update in the test server and the nearing launch of the game, i wondered myself which playable hero will be implemented at launch.
although i think musketeearbalest or crusader would be a nice addtion to the game, since we only have only one offhealer with occultist( who isnt in a super good state to begin with), i still think their roles are somewhat covered by other heroes. so the houndmaster could be a new addition who is unique in its on way, like vestal is.
i dont know if someone did something similar before, bute here we go:
ive played a lot of games in my life and have a somewhat good understanding about game mechanics. but nevertheless i would consider myself average in dd1 and dd2 and im by no means and expert on both games. furthermore i am in no shape or form a videogame developer. so my suggestions and ideas could be absolutely rubbish with no use for DD2 or could completly break the game. it could even be impossible to implement this. but here is my idea for houndmaster in dd2
Overview:
i tried to expand the kit from dd1 while mainting the feel of the houndmaster from dd1.
Houndmaster (Duncan) and his hound (Rolf) should be an aggressive support/DD in the game. the unique feature about him is, that you basically pick two characters by selecting the houndmaster at the beginning of the run.
while the Houndmaster has average stats, the hound himself has lower hp and stress level as the other playable heroes. (maybe something along those lines 20 Hp and 5 Stress level.)
he always shares a position with another hero. in the beginning of the fight its the houndmaster. the hound can be targeted like a normal hero and will always be targeted by aoe effects which attack the position he is in. e.g: if the houndmaster and the dog are in position 2 and an enemy cleaves position 2 and 3, the dog and the houndmaster will get hit. this applies to enemy actions and allies actions. if the hounds hp drops to 0 he will run away and will only join the party after the battle (or he rejoins when the party reaches the inn) if he reaches 5 Stress he will have the meltdown/resolute check like other heroes with some effects. i will explain later. the hound can be buffed/healed by allies like any other hero in the party.
attacks of the hound will trigger tokens positive and negative. the hound always has a chance to apply bleed to the enemy, if he attacks in one way or the other.
Skills:
the player only controlls the houndmaster who in return controlls the hound by giving him orders. the houndmaster has 12 skills instead of the usual 11.
Heel: (any position) his special skill is "Heel", which can only be used when the dog isnt at the position the houndmaster is in. while "heel" is active, every position swap, forced by the enemy or being done by allies, will count for the hound aswell. if you want to swap the houndmaster from position 1 to 2, the hound will follow. using this ability is an action, so the houndmaster cant do any other ability after doing this. "heel" is active at the beginning of the combat. "heel" can be used to stop the hound from doing his current task. it cant be upgraded with mastery points.
Right in the gut: (position 1,2) the houndmaster moves back one position and kicks an enemy in position 1 or 2. the enemy gets pushed back one position. upgrading the skill will increase the damage and will add a vulnarable token.
Disorienting Strike: (Position 1, 2, 3) The houndmaster moves forward one position hits an enemy in position 1 or 2 and adds daze. Upgrading the skill will increase the damage. furthermore, if a combo token is already on the targeted enemy, the enemy will be stunned. (i dont know if it would be to strong. one could swap the daze/stuned with blind/weak)
sic: (any position) ("heel" has to be active) the hound attacks an enemy in any position and applies bleed. the hound will return to the houndmaster after the attack. upgrading it increases the damage of the attack and adds a dodge token on the hound.
treat: (position 2, 3, 4)(dog has to be at "heel" to activate the ability) can only be used if the dogs stress is 3 or above or if his health is 25% or less. the houndmaster gives the hound a well deserved treat. the treat heals the dog or heals stress. it can heal both, but both conditions must be met in order to do. upgrading it will lower the conditions to activate it. its basically a two in one heal only for the dog. (this move should have a cooldown)(maybe since ist his main dog heal, it should call the hound back to the houndmaster)
mans best friend:(position 2, 3)(can target himself or any allies) (allies stress has to be 5 or highter) (heel has to be active in order to cast this) the houndmaster sends the hound to an ally. the hound will remain at the position of the ally, even if the ally changes position. the dog will calm the ally with his presence. he will remove 1 stress at the beginning of the allies turn. the dog will also generate one vulnerable token on himself when healing stress. upgrading it will remove the vulnerable token. its active until "heel" is casted (should have cooldown)
territorial behaviour: ( hound position 2, 3, 4) (targets position 2, 3, 4) the houndmaster has trained the hound to attack enemies who enter his territory. the hound guards one position. if an enemy enters the position, the hound will attack him. the attack deals damage and can bleed. it lasts for 2 rounds. if "territorial behaviour" is activated, the hound will stop his current action and focuses on his new task. after "territorial behaviour" ends, heel will be activated. upgrading it will increase the duration. (has cooldown)
guard dog: (position 2, 3, 4)(heel has to be active) (targets any ally or himself) the houndmaster trained the dog to guard people. the dog rushes to the target and stays by his side. on activation the hound generates a dodge and riposte on himself. the targeted ally gets a guarded token and every damage is directed to the hound. the guarded token has infinite uses. it still can be cleansed by abilities of enemies. to deactivate "guard dog" "heel" has to be activated. upgrading the abiliy lets the hound generate a riposte token whenever the houndmasters turn starts. (should have big cooldown)
whistle: (position 2, 3, 4) the houndmaster uses his dog whistle. the hound gets excited and generates a strength and dodge token. upgrading it gives 15% chance to generate a crit token
fetch: (position 3, 4)(heel has to be active)(this ability can be used once per combat) this ability takes two turns. the houndmaster has trained his hound to fetch usefull items for him. the hound gains stealth. the hound comes back at the next turn of the houndmaster and brings a random combat item. the item can be used instantly or can be stored in the houndmasters combat item slot, if its empty. the houndmaster can also use his current combat item and put the new item into his combat item slot for later use. upgrading the ability will let the player use the ability twice per combat.
prowl: (position 3,4) (cant be used wihile guard dog is active) the houndmaster orders his hound to hunt his target. the hound will generate stealth, riposte and attack. upgrading it reduces the cooldown.
bark (position 2, 3, 4)(targets any rank) The hound barks at and adds a blind token. the enemy will attack the hound on his next turn.
(i had this idea for two other abilities. but this ability wouldnt fit in the limit of 11 abilities per character. its just an idea so i listed it here)
pin down : ("heel" has to be active) (position 2,3 and 4) (target position 3,4) the hound pins down a non boss enemy. the target has to fit in one position. the enemy will use "get rid of the damm dog" the next turn. the damage "get rid of the damm hound" will be based on the strength of the enemy and activates positive and negative tokens. this will deal damage to the enemy and the hound and has a 50% chance to stop "pin down". other enemies still can target the dog but wont break "pin down" unless the stress level gets to high or the hounds hp drop to 0. upgrading the ability will decrease the damage the dog recieves from "get rid of the damm dog" and reduces the breaking free chance. (should have a big cooldown)
combat hound: ("heel" has to be active) (position ,3, 4) (targets allies in position 1 or 2) the houndmaster has trained the dog to follow his allies into combat. whenever the targeted ally does an offensive melee action, the hound will follow up with attack on its on, dealing damage and applying bleed. this ablity lasts for 2 turns and adds weak to the hound when it ends. the hound returns to the houndmaster at the end of the ability. upgrading it decreases cooldown and increases the damage of the attack.
out of combat mechanics:
paths:
im not good with paths but they should be somewhat unique, upgrading different playstyles. i think the third isnt as good as the first two.
a man and his dog: deactivates: guard dog, mans best friend, pin down, territorial behaviour. hound has +2 stress points ( 7 in total) and +20% health. it applies +2 bleed with his attacks. fetch only takes one turn. prowl can be used in position 2, 3 and 4. hound has 20% chance to generate a riposte token at the beginning of houndmasters turn.
a dog for the people: this one should improve the abilites which send the dog away and weaken the houndmaster
the master: and the third path should increase the effectivness of the houndmaster himself aswell as kick and disorienting strike while decreasing the effectivness of the hound.
items: the hound can hold special treats as combat items and he can wear different collars as trinkets. he can only wear one collar at a time. you can unlock them at the altar of hope. the houndmasters tree and the hounds tree are seperate. trinkets could be used for out of combat events aswell. like making the group more aware of their sourroundings. this could lower the enemy advantage chance. its something like the hounds camp skills from dd1
the houndmaster increases the chance to find items in road debris.
meltdown and resolute: stress of the hounds effects the relation between the houndmaster and the hound. if the relation is bad, the hound can refuse orders and even attack allies. a good relation has the chance to spawn positive tokens and follow up attacks of other people. if the dog runs away after his hp drop to 0, he will have a bad relationship with the houndmaster.
feedback:
these are just ideas and its probably a fantasy, since the dd2 developers have probably began testing the new hero now on their own. nonetheless i would be happy if you could give me constructive feedback. if you dont like the idea thats fine with me, but thats not a reason to be rude.
and i should mention that im not a native speaker. so some formulations are probably weird.
thanks for reading :3

2023.03.22 17:12 Theclaaw Countdown to Kickoff 2023: Portland Thorns FC
| 🌹🌹🌹 LET'S GET THORNY!! 🌹🌹🌹 You can check out the the original post with links to all other write ups for this year here. BACKGROUND Head Coach: Mike Norris Formerly an assistant coach for the Thorns, Mike Norris took over the team in January of this year following the resignation of last year’s head coach, Rhian Wilkinson who stepped down after only one season. Her resignation came after a joint investigation by the NWSL & NWSLPA regarding a relationship developing with a current player on the team. While the investigation found Wilkinson did not violate league policies, Wilkinson left the team after player urging, regarding the broken trust between the players and Wilkinson, the legitimacy of the reporting/investigation process of the team/league, and potential retaliation amongst other issues. Norris joined PTFC in 2022 as an assistant head coach under Wilkinson. Most recently, Norris was the goalkeepers coach for the current Olympic champions, the Canadian Women’s National Team, but Norris’s assistant coaching background in women’s soccer is extensive. After starting his coaching career in youth soccer, he quickly moved up through Canadian youth’s national system up to the senior team over the span of 8 years. Most importantly, Norris was hired with the backing of the current players. Expectations are high for Norris. The Thorns are coming off their third championship season with sights set on a repeat performance. Technical Director: Karina LeBlanc - General Manager Karina LeBlanc took over the role of General Manager in November of 2021 following a 3 year stint as CONCACAF’s Head of Women’s Soccer. The newly dedicated role in the Thorns' organization came after a separation between the Thorns management from their brother club Portland Timbers FC stemming from the fall out of the 2021 abuse scandal of the league. LeBlanc, a Canadian national team Hall of Famer, was immediately thrown into the mix, managing to make a splash with her first two trades within her first month, securing a substantial amount of allocation money and expansion draft protection. Unfortunately, LeBlanc stumbled a bit in her first NWSL draft, using her first pick on a player that was never signed by the club (due to transphobic/anti-LGBTQ+ social media posts). In just over a year, LeBlanc appears to be a breath of fresh air in the recent tumultuous years of the club. Just like head coach Mike Norris, there are high expectations for LeBlanc (honestly though, not protecting a known abuser would instantly shoot LeBlanc up to the best GM in Thorns history). Captain: Chrstine Sinclair Synonymous with Portland women’s soccer and needing no introduction, the Canadian GOAT Christine Sinclair has been the Thorn’s captain since the start of the league in 2013. While several players have worn the armband in Sinc’s absence, the captaincy is Sinc’s and truly Sinc’s alone. Stadium: Providence Park, Soccer City, USA Arguably one of the most iconic professional soccer stadiums in the US, Providence Park has played host to the Thorns since they joined the league in 2013. Located in the Goose Hollow neighborhood in Southwest Portland, the recently renovated stadium is home to both PTFC teams and can host over 25,000 fans. Ownership: To Be Determined I am not going to waste time talking about the Thorns' current owner; in no way does he deserve any more publicity and in mine, and I’m sure many others’ opinion, should not be allowed to own a club in the league. Thankfully, in December of 2022, it was announced the Thorns would be up for sale. While this could potentially hinder both the Thorns & Timbers’ mantra of “Two Teams, One Club”, the future is bright for the Thorns. Right after the announcement of the sale, it was reported that an all-women investment group led by Nike executive Melanie Strong was looking to submit a bid with a valuation of $60 million. Mascot: N/A While there is no mascot for the club, the prominence of roses can be seen throughout the club, including on merch, within the supporters section, and even awarded to players after home matches. Kits: We’ve Got Some Mixed Opinions The Thorns have had some really great kits in past years. However, the kits unveiled in 2022 really missed the mark. One comment pointed out that the 2022 kits looked as if someone took the 2021 kits and remade them in MS Paint. Switching to black kits the previous year, Portland’s primary kits kept with the theme of a black base with the inclusion of red vines/thorns. A nice little easter egg, the acronym dear to the PTFC supporters, BAON, is included within the neck tag (a feature added to the kits starting in 2020). The secondary kits didn’t fare much better. The club kept with the primary colors of white and red, but other than that, not much else can be said about them. 2023 brings about a fun new kit for our Ed Hardy fans out there (at least we can say they didn’t play it safe???). The Thorns wanted to go bold and that they did. With an updated logo on the shorts, they definitely stand out. Supporters Groups: The Rose City Riveters Housed in the North End of Providence Park, the Rose City Riveters are a wild bunch of supporters. You can check out their Instagram or Twitter. The group provides plenty of volunteer opportunities, charity drives, and are never shy in supporting what they believe in. The Riveters are loud and proud (NSFW - language), creating one of the best sporting environments in the league. Very biased, but they also create some of the best TIFOs and banners; since I love a good TIFO/banner, here are few of my recent favorites: Subreddit: /Thorns The Thorns subreddit is probably above average in activity compared to other clubs. You’ll get the biggest news, fun social media posts, and the occasional hyped upvote party (we like excitement). Drop by to show your support! News and Commentary: Stumptown Footy & Riveting! Stumptown Footy & Riveting! are the two publications that you will constantly find Thorns-centric coverage & commentary. While STF is currently going through the SB Nation cuts of all soccer coverage, they still plan on continuing coverage of soccer in Portland. Both are great for not just coverage, but opinions on the Thorns & the league. Key Twitter Follows for Team Insights: Thorns FC Ryan Clarke - Beat writer for The Oregonian Paul Danzer - Sports writer for The Portland Tribune Stumptown Footy Phuoc "Francis" Nguyen Rose City Review Mike Donovan Chris Rifer Anne M. Peterson - Portland based AP writer Meg Linehan - The Athletic (it’s not a true list without Meg) Craig Mitchelldyer - Great PTFC photos! DanteysArt - Not Twitter (though they do have one), but great game day pics! SCHEDULE 2023 Season/Home Opener: Sunday, March 26th, Orlando Pride @ Providence Park Full 2023 Schedule HISTORY - NWSL Championship: 2013, 2017, 2022
- NWSL Shield: Supporters’ Shield: 2016, 2021
- NWSL Challenge Cup: 2021
Also including the 2020 NWSL Community Shield for the Fall Series after the Chaos Cup. 2022 Season Review Three Stars!!! ⭐⭐⭐ The Portland Thorns were your 2022 NWSL League Champions! As any other season in Portland, the Thorns came in with high expectations following their Shield win in 2021, but their upset loss in the semi-finals to Chicago. Portland went into the pre-season Challenge cup in the West Division finishing 3-1-2, but missed out on advancing to the knockout stage to defend their Challenge Cup championship. The Thorns started off the regular season a little sluggish, going 1-3-1 in their first five games, falling all the way to 7th in the standings. Thankfully, they quickly hit their stride, going on a 10 game unbeaten streak. Following back to back thrashings from NCC & SD, the Thorns went on to not drop a match for the rest of the season. They ended the season with a record of 10-9-3 and a goal differential of +25! The race for the shield at the end of the season was wild, with Portland being in control of their own destiny, but couldn’t get it done, ultimately falling short by 1 point to OL Reign. Focusing on the on-field storylines, there is one name that was the star of the show: Sophia Smith. Coming into her 3rd season in the league, Smith took off (for club and country)! Racking up 14 goals with 3 assists which lead to 3 Player of the Week nominations (1 win), a Player of the Month award, 2nd in the race for the Golden Boot, NWSL Championship Game MVP, and ultimately being crowned the 2022 NWSL MVP. Nothing could stop Sophia Smith last season and hopefully this is just the beginning for her. Smith was not the only Thorns player to really step it up this year. Continuing on with the nickname of Goalkeeper FC (shout out the magical Thorns GKer coach Nadine Angerer), starting goalkeeper Bella Bixby tied for the most clean sheets in the league with 9 (10 if you include the playoffs). Rookie Sam Coffey made an immediate impact in the midfield, switching to a DM position and being an anchor our midfield needed. The Thorns also had 1 iron woman in 2022, defender Kelli Hubly who really solidified her starting role going forward (over an injured Emily Menges). Last, but not least, one of the biggest stories of the season: the return of Crystal Dunn! After giving birth to her very adorable son Marcel in May, Dunn returned to the pitch less than 4 months later. And who could forget Dunn’s game winner to send Portland to the championship? OFFSEASON Players Out - Lindsey Horan, MF - For now, Horan is still out on loan to Lyon through the summer of 2023
- Marissa Everett, F - Retired (to pursue a career in nursing)
- Abby Smith, GK - Free agency (signed to Gotham)
- Yazmeen Ryan, F - Traded to ACFC
Players In Free Agents: None Drafted: - Reyna Reyes - Defender - Round 1 Pick 5 (still unsigned, but training with the team)
- Izzy D’Aquila - Forward - Round 1 Pick 12 (signed)
- Lauren DeBeau - Forward/Midfield - Round 2 Pick 24 (released by the team ahead of final roster)
- Lauren Kozal - Goalkeeper - Round 3 Pick 32 (signed)
ROSTER Preseason Roster Thorns return 23 players from their 2022 season and added 3 new players through the NWSL Draft. Goalkeepers (3): Bella Bixby, Shelby Hogan, Lauren Kozal (DRAFT) Defenders (9): Kelli Hubly, Meghan Klingenberg, Natalia Kuikka (INTL), Tegan McGrady, Emily Menges, Meaghan Nally, Gabby Provenzano, Reyna Reyes (DRAFT), Becky Sauerbrunn Midfielders (7): Sam Coffey, Crystal Dunn, Olivia Moultrie, Taylor Porter, Rocky Rodríguez, Christine Sinclair, Hina Sugita (INTL) Forwards (7): Janine Beckie, Natalie Beckman, Hannah Betfort, Izzy D’Aquila (DRAFT), Sophia Smith, Michele Vasconcelos, Morgan Weaver Predicted Preferred Gameday XI Formation: A bit unknown what the formation will be this year with a new head coach, but the Thorns primarily ran a 4-3-3 last year. It’s going to be an interesting discussion to see how Norris handles where Sinclair goes. While I respect the Canadian GOAT, I believe Sinc would be best used as a super sub. Depending how Norris handles where Sinclair goes, there is going to be some variation within our midfield & forwards group. Predicting Sinc remaining in our starting line up, I would expect to see some form of our starting XI looking something like: -------------------Bixby------------------- -Kuikka----Hubly----Sauerbrunn----Klingenberg- ----Rodriguez----Coffey----Dunn---- ----Smith----Sinclair----Weaver---- Likely Top Bench/Subs: - Emily Menges, D
- Hina Sugita, MF
Janine Beckie, F (sike :( ) - Izzy D’Aquila, F
- Olivia Moultrie, M (again, Moultrie’s use is really going to depend on what Norris plans on. Moultrie was ramping up in minutes on the back half of the season last year. As of today, Moultrie is in the Starting XI for the Thorns first preseason match)
Returning Players (Almost Everyone): GK: Bella Bixby, Shelby Hogan D: Kelli Hubly, Meghan Klingenberg, Natalia Kuikka, Tegan McGrady, Emily Menges, Meaghan Nally, Gabby Provenzano, Becky Sauerbrunn M: Sam Coffey, Crystal Dunn, Olivia Moultrie, Taylor Porter, Rocky Rodríguez, Christine Sinclair, Hina Sugita F: Janine Beckie, Natalie Beckman, Hannah Betfort, Sophia Smith, Michele Vasconcelos, Morgan Weaver The Vets Almost every Thorns player is a veteran with the team at this point. The vets below are those who have been around the block a time or two in this league: D: Klingenberg, Menges, Sauerbrunn M: Dunn, Rodríguez, Sinclair Something to Prove - Kelli Hubly (D) - Being the Thorns only iron woman is a feat in itself, but until the 2021 season, Hubly hadn’t been a consistent starter. With an aging backline, it will be seen if Hubly can continue on the upward trajectory in being that anchor of our backline
- Sam Coffey (M) - Year 1 for Coffey went about as good as one could wish for. Like Hubly, Coffey’s “prove it” is if she can continue to be as good as she was last year, proving that year 1 wasn’t just a fluke (I don’t think anyone thinks this is the case though). If she isn’t called in for the World Cup (a long shot at making it at the moment), Coffey is going to be a key piece for the Thorns.
- Olivia Moultrie (M) - The Child. (Can we even call her that anymore?). Moultrie & co. fought hard to allow her to play for the Thorns which led to massive changes in how the league handles U18 players. That said, Moultrie hasn’t really consistently shown that she’s as good as they said she was. A lot of it is due to playing time, it came sporadically and at times, playing only the last few minutes of the match. However, Moultrie has shown flashes of brilliance when she was in. She’s not afraid to be physical and she has the confidence to take her shot.
- Christine Sinclaire (M) - Does Sinc really have to prove anything at this point in her career? No. However, we are unfortunately heading towards the end of Sinc’s career here. The big question is, how will she handle it? This will be Portland’s 3rd coach in 3 years and while the Thorns are far from rebuilding, it is yet to be seen where Sinc will fall in Norris’s game planning. However it shakes out to be, I have a feeling we will see Sinc be what Sinc always is, the GOAT.
Out for the season So far, Portland is looking good as far as the SEI list (knock on wood). Jinxed myself on this one. Unfortunately, Janine Beckie went down in the preseason friendly against the U23 NT with an ACL tear. The biggest missing piece will once again be Lindsey Horan. Leaving at the start of last season, Horan left big shoes to fill. She will continue to be out until at least June (the end of her loan), but we most likely won’t see her return until after the World Cup. Fortunately for the Thorns, they do not lack depth in their midfield. 2023 PREVIEW Realistic Best Case Scenario: 1st Place The Thorns are returning almost the entirety of their championship team. And while they do have a new coach, Norris was there during the Thorns’ championship run. Expectations for the club will be higher than ever with the possibility of the Thorns going back to back a very realistic goal. Realistic Worst Case Scenario: 5-7th place The league is only getting better. While the Thorns did not lose any key players, many clubs right below them gained quite a few. Five different clubs were all within 4 points of each other at the end of the season. The 3 teams right below Portland were San Diego, Houston, and Kansas City. I won’t repeat what’s already been said in these write ups about those 3 teams, but the Thorns could’ve easily been 5th last year as they could’ve been 1st. Looking further back, you have a team like ACFC who should be returning many injured starters and could easily project themselves forward in the standings. The World Cup is going to be especially hard on the Thorns who will look to have ~7 players out which includes 5 potential starters. I don’t expect to see Portland drop out of the playoff picture, but the middle to back half of the season could get very interesting. Realistic Most Probable Scenario: 2nd-4th While the Thorns didn’t make any flashy trades or free agent signings, they stuck with what they know worked. Sophia Smith really hit her stride last year and is going to be looked upon to continue her dominance this year. The return of Lindsey Horan (if healthy) in the back half should really give us a push late into the season. Portland returns a team of veterans that know what it takes to win. Can they repeat the success of their 2022 season? We’re going to have to find out. submitted by Theclaaw to NWSL [link] [comments] |

2023.03.22 17:02 anabolic_coach Q&A #68...Majestic Herbs Gynostemma for the Win!
| Q: Hey man I just wanted to say I really liked the info you gave us about Gynostemma tea. I never even knew this tea existed let alone all the performance and health benefits that it offers. You seem to know a lot about herbs as well as all the other bodybuilding supplements too. You are like an encyclopedia of knowledge and not just on drugs and training info. I am an older bodybuilder closing in on 50 years old. I have been on and off the gas for over 30 years. I really like all the longevity content you are discussing and I find it very informative and interesting. I have one complaint though. You didn't mention what brands of Gynostemma to buy? I am sure there are good and bad quality ones, like just about everything out there. I found one called Majestic Herbs Gynostemma. Did you ever hear of it? If so please let me know what you think of this brand? Thanks Coach for all the wonderful content! Majestic Herbs Gynostemma is of the Highest Quality! A: Hey man its great to hear from you. Plus I actually love the taste of it too. Yes I have heard of Majestic Herbs brand and it is one of the ones that I recommend. I am planning another article about all the different forms of taking Gynostemma and brands as well in the near future. But today I will cover the Majestic Herbs Gynostemma as that is what you wanted to know about. With the two part series I did on the health and performance benefits of Gynostemma tea I received a ton of DM's with questions and praises. Today I want to give you an in depth look at one of the products that you mentioned and that is none other than Majestic Herbs Gynostemma tea. I Love Gynostemma Tea! Rare Medicinal Herbs at Your Fingertips! First off when it comes to different companies that produce high quality herbs and teas, Majestic Herbs is one of my favourite. Now for those of you who don’t know, Majestic Herbs is located out of Thailand but it is run by a fellow Canadian who moved out there a decade ago. He created this business to fill the gap of sourcing rare medicinal herbs especially for those that live in areas where they are nearly impossible to find. He also wanted to provide customers with the highest quality organic medicinal herbs and teas available at an affordable price. This would allow these rare medicinal herbs to be shipped right to your door. No longer would you have to search high and low trying to get your hands on high quality herbs. With Majestic Herbs being an online business, getting your herbs is quick and easy. Gynostemma Offers Amazing Health Benefits! What Does Gynostemma Offer Your Health and Performance? Now for those of you who have missed my series on Gynostemma I recommend you go back and give it a read. I have provided a ton of information based on medical studies to help you understand all that it has to offer your health and training performance. Here I want to highlight just a few of the many positive benefits Gynostemma tea has on the human body. - Gynostemma can help fight and prevent several forms of Cancer

- Prevents cardiovascular disease from several angles

- It has been studied by medical researchers for several decades with tons of studies that have been conducted on it. This is truly one of the healthiest teas you can drink.
Gynostemma's Performance Benefits are Amazing for Bodybuilders! Why Do I Like Majestic Herbs So Much? Now there are many different Gynostemma teas available on the market so what makes Majestic Herbs different? One thing that really stands out is the integrity of this company. For me this is a big thing and I am sure many of you reading this feel the same way. Majestic Herbs Gynostemma tea is first off organic. This is a big plus for me especially when you don’t want to be thinking about what kind of pesticides could be used. Majestic Herbs source of Gynostemma is a fair trade product grown by local hill tribe farmers. Beautiful Gynostemma Farms in Thailand! This provides income to local farmers that have in the past relied on drug crops such as opium to provide for their families. By growing and cultivating Gynostemma it has provided a way out for these farmers to earn money while not relying on illegal drug farming. This allows them for a better way of life and a way to take care of their families without resorting to past means. In fact, Majestic Herbs Gynostemma is not just pesticide free but no chemical fertilizers are used as well. Organic and Fair Trade These Gynostemma farms are also run under a project by the government to help solve the issues of deforestation and soil erosion to make it easy on the environment from every angle. Under this Royal Project program, only sustainable and organic methods are allowed and practised in the farming of these crops. These farms and their products are also licensed and inspected by the Thailand version of the FDA. Since no chemical fertilizers are used, these hill tribe farmers rely on compost and humus methods. Making Sure Your Gynostemma is Free of Pesticides is a Must! Once the Gynostemma is ready to be harvested it is hand picked and dried using the traditional pan drying method. This is one of there reasons why Majestic Herbs Gynostemma tastes amazing, but also why it is so potent. When someone purchases Majestic Herbs Gynostemma not only are you benefiting your health and wellness, but you are doing much more. You are also helping provide a legal income to farmers and help sustain the traditions and way of life for the indigenous hill people of northern Thailand. Now with all that I just mentioned, how could I not want to spend my hard earned money with a company based on integrity and transparency like Majestic Herbs? How Do I Prepare this Amazing Tea? Now many of you might be wondering what is the best way to brew up Majestic Herb’s Gynostemma tea. There are a couple ways you can do it but I will outline below the best procedure to make the tastiest and most potent method available. Start with Clean Water! Step 1: Use High Quality Water I am assuming the large majority of you reading this do care about the quality of the water you drink on a daily basis. One important note is that to get the best taste from tea, using a high quality clean water is a must. It can be reverse osmosis, distilled, or any other high filtration method to make sure it is clean and toxin free. Don't Over Heat Your Gynostemma! Step 2: Dial in the Temperature Now take this clean pure water source and get it heated up to around the 90 degrees Celsius mark. You can use a food thermometer if you like but I am sure many of you don’t have the patience for this. I do seem to know my readers well, don’t I? To make this even easier you can bring the water to a boil on the stove. Once you have reached this point, remove it from the heat source and allow it to cool for about three minutes. This will most of the time get it to the right temperature without all the hassle. Step 3: Add in the Gynostemma Tea Here you can add in 1-2 teaspoons for each 250 ml of water used. If you are going to make a litre of tea, simply add in 4-8 teaspoons of Gynostemma to help provide the optimal dosage. You can try with the lower amount your first time and then increase from there to help you see not only where you like the flavour best, but also for its effects as well. They Don't Call it \"Wonder Grass\" for Nothing! Step 4: Steep for Potency Now the next thing you want to do after you add in the tea is to steep it. Here you can cover and allow the tea to steep for a minimum of ten minutes. This is the least amount of time you want because you want to extract all those amazing gypenosides that I discussed in my series. One thing I like to do is let it steep for a full two hours. Oh yea I like my Gynostemma tea strong that is for sure. This allows the maximum concentration of those healing saponins to be pulled from these delicate leaves. Brew to Perfrection! Step 5: Drink and Be Merry Now that your tea is ready, its time to drink up all that goodness that it possesses. You can drink it anytime of the day or night without any concerns. Like I mentioned in my articles, Gynostemma is dual directional. This means that it will help provide energy throughout the day, and then help you calm down and relax in the evening. Tips and Tricks Now many of you might be wondering how much to drink daily to reap all the benefits. For the beginner I would recommend at least 2-4 cups each and every day spaced out. Don’t try and drink that much all at once as you will get better results spacing it out. In terms of when is the best time to drink this delicious tea, consuming it about half hour before meals on an empty stomach is best. You can also take it a couple hours after a meal as well. Make Sure to Use Enough Dry Tea to be Potent! Now in the above paragraph I recommended 1-2 grams of tea per cup of water. For those of you who are more advanced and have responded well to the tea, this can be increased to find your sweet spot. Remember Gynostemma is safe and non toxic in nature. It has been consumed for thousands of years by people who drink large amounts everyday. The thing noted by these people is not only their healthy bodies free of disease and illness, but also their very long lifespans as well. How Do I get my hands on Majestic Herbs Gynostemma? Now like I mentioned before, getting your hand on this amazing tea is simple and easy. All you have to do is go to their website which I will leave below and place your order. They also have a contact form on their website. This way if you have any questions or concerns they will get back to you. They even have a customer service and order line as well if you would like to reach out and call. I have always received fast and courteous service that goes above and beyond what other companies offer. This is another reason why I have always liked dealing with “Mom and Pop” businesses over large corporations where they care less about your needs. Majestic Herbs Gynostemma for the Win! Conclusion So take it from me. If you are new to Gynostemma tea then you are in for a real treat with Majestic Herbs organic tea. For those of you who have read my articles over the last two decades, you know that I try and source out those hidden gems that are not so easy to find in a wide variety of niche areas that strength athletes can benefit from. 2023.03.22 16:50 WreckageHothHead Flaws/insufficiencies in RLM's spacewar commentary: paaaaart 1(?)
So just for a bit of context here, I recently rewatched Mauler's "TFA critique", and while it contains a whole lot of precise analysis that I couldn't really find any problems with, his utter obliviousness to the huge amount of logical/continuity problems in ANH (incl. the almost identical ones in the "corresponding" plot points!), which he repeatedly brings up throughout his review while praising its plot as logically consistent where everything makes sense and every event/action are justified / in line with the characters' characterizations (with I think the
sole exception of Motti starting out as ignorant of Vader's powers; and something about how bad the Stormtroopers were while showing exclusively Endor footage), made me go on an autistic multi-(for-now-7-)part rant on the
Mauler sub going through most of the major logical issues found throughout ANH and ESB.
The ANH ones have some overlap with Plinkett's audio commentary, but also contain lots of points either not brought up there at all, or expanded versions of some of the points that Plinkett touches on.
There's no necessity in reading them for this particular thread here or anything, but here they are regardless lol:

https://old.reddit.com/MauLecomments/11fytsc/an_example_of_mauler_as_well_as_plinkett/japzym (bit of a correction/expansion of the OP in an added comment - I should probably post a revised version of the OP somewhere at some point)

So naturally being on a bit of an inertia from this, I thought I'd go over here and also highlight various problems I've found with RLM's spacewars coverage in various places;
in this thread just 1 relatively small point, and if I end up posting others, probably also just few points at a time (to prevent long OPs or whatever):
Plinkett audio commentary: SW Ep4
But really, a space station the size of a small moon? And they just happened to get pulled into the exact hangar bay which is located right near all the things that they need to get to.
But they do get back to the Millennium Falcon on foot, right? Like right after when they rescue Princess Leia and get all showered up; so the prisoner room and the garbage dump that's like one floor below it - is like right near where the hangar bay is?
Same with all 7 power reactor control things that shut off power to the main tractor beam...
Why is this Death Star so big again?
Oh right, the giant space laser. Ah, whatever...
The Death Star is silly and nonsensical; each set is designed for the purpose of the movie's needs:
The prisoner cell block only has one way out; which is great by the way, in case a crazed prisoner escapes and corners a guard?
There are giant steel doors everywhere, that close to block off hallways - utterly pointless, except it's neat to have Han and Chewie jump through a door as it's closing while they're being chased by Stormtroopers.
"Open the blast doors! Open the blast doors!"
I guess they're blast doors...
What are they blasting against? [...]
I guess they're like watertight bulkhead doors? - like on the Titanic? You know, in case the Death Star hits an iceberg.
And then you got the extendable and retractable bridge over the cavernous pit; this serves no purpose? - unless we want a scene where Luke has to swing across the pit heroically with Leia.
And don't even get me started on the fact that there are no railings anywhere on any of the [?] walkways, that go above endless pits to nowhere...
It's all very stark, and abstract, and science-fictiony stuff.
I guess the Empire's so confident in its efficiency, that it doesn't need shit like safety railings - they've been accident free for over three years now!
Now you might be saying to yourself, well, I did complain about the Theed power room, right?
But I never really complained about the look of the Theed power room - or the fact that they didn't have no railings either!
And they have these silly rotating force field doors, that led to a little room with a pit in it for no reason...
It was like that little Keymaker guy from the Matrix sequels showed up - and he opened up the door to a completely different fucking world.
I guess George wanted them to have a fight scene on a Star Wars looking set, or something that looked like the Death Star kind of environment? - but he couldn't get them onto one storywise, so he just said that there would be one underneath this old quaint city.
You see we need some kind of connection to reality?, and as absurd as a planet-sized space station with a giant laser is - it's still much more believable than the fact that Naboo has a gigantic power generator under its city;
accessible through doors in some kind of hangar bay for some reason.
And it's like underneath the main palace? And not like a 100 miles away in the middle of nowhere.
It's like having a nuclear powerplant under the White House - not necessarily the greatest idea....
If I owned a nuclear powerplant, I'd probably go and touch the Uranium rods. I'd rub my face against them.. in hopes that I would get superpowers and be able to shoot laser out of my eyes... But I'd probably just get horrible cancer.
You know, I got something to admit - I got cancer once? But I was cured of it... Because you see, once the cancer cells saw what I did in my basement at night? - they all killed themselves. They said they didn't wanna bring their children into a world such as mine.
This of course being an expanded version of a point that touched briefs in the Ep1 review:
Plinkett: SW Ep1
Oh, and then they go from the palace to this room, what is this room? Is this in the palace??
I mean I know George wanted the Jedis to fight in a cool place that's really Star Warsy? - so.. so what this is like a power generator? What does it power, the Universe??
So you're expecting me to believe that the people that built this technological wonder were dying without space supplies for 2 days??
One additional plot hole I seem to have found here (at least haven't seen anyone else mention it) is that at the beginning of Ep1, the hangar with the ships quite certainly was not in the palace (the Queen's group looked like it had walked quite a distance away from the palace before the 2 Jedi freed them - and then Panaka's like "the hangar, this way" and next second they're at the hangar; no way they made the whole trip back to the palace during that cut?) - however at the end, they enter the palace via the hangar.
Either way this aside, while the comparison in that commentary section is accurate, the big problem here is that a much closer and more natural comparison to what happens here with the Theed hangar->"powerplant", is not the Death Star here, but rather the Bespin duel - and Plinkett doesn't make that obvious comparison anywhere.
As an environment, Bespin is a direct predecessor to mainly Coruscant (i.e. the exterior) as well as to a lesser extent the Naboo capital - its interior doesn't directly look like the Palace (if anything that one's much more comparable to the Yavin throne room), however it's an exotic, idyllic and embellished, arguably "aristocratic" looking environment built right next to the hellish looking carbon freezing chamber, a junkyard featuring a conveyor belt leading into an inferno, and probably other industrial areas;
this in itself is not yet "unjustified" in any way - Cloud City is a "gas mining colony" after all, and as James Cameron is well aware, smoke-filled metallic industrial environments already have an inherent tendency to look like Hell on Earth and serve as a perfect setting for climactic showdowns against creepy villains and monsters.
However Han's group never visits Lando's moody looking industrial facilities before being taken there by Vader - so from their perspective, and the way it's conveyed in the movie (starting even with the room Threepio initially enters), these industrial and engine rooms represent the "evil underbelly" of Cloud City, hidden beneath and inbetween the picturesque city and the soothing bright hallways that serve as a "front" for this hidden truth;
even the gnome-like aliens first found by Chewie in that junkyard, and later seen participating in in the carbon freezing procedure, while literally just being industrial workers there, come off as malicious, almost demon-like creatures who're seemingly exclusively found in these grim underbelly rooms.
Then, even though it's reasonable to expect a city with a police force to feature prisons and detention centers, the one that Chewbacca gets locked in has an emphatically grim and evil look to it - a complete contrast to the public areas.
That's not what the Enterprise's detention cells look like?
Moments later, Han is strapped into a torture contraption, in a similar room with a dark red ceiling - one might assume the Empire brought the torture equipment with them, but really this place increasingly starts looking like an evil Imperial fortress rather than a benign, idyllic city built around some factories.
And if the initial scenes inside the freezing chamber didn't outright confirm that this place exists right "next" to the bright hallways, then certainly that's exactly how it turns out to be when Luke arrives and is lured into this trap - one moment he's in the white hallway, the next he enters a door and is pulled into the hell room with Vader.
Plinkett's "Keymaker from the Matrix" comparison becomes more and more applicable here - even though the believability isn't stretched as much yet, since why shouldn't there be quick and easy access to the industrial/engine rooms from the public hallways?
And the Empire just happens to be using this room, since Vader wants to use this otherwise normal industrial facility to freeze Luke so he doesn't try to escape during the trip to the Emperor... or something.
However as Luke starts following after Vader after pushing him off the platform, and walks through a creepy tunnel into what seems like a level of control rooms connected by darkly lit hallways, the place becomes hard to distinguish from some of the interiors of the Death Star - especially the Emperor's throne room from the 2nd one;
and then Luke is blown out a window that looks like a spider web (not quite unlike the one seen behind the Emperor's throne in the next film), into a vast, round bottomless pit with walls that look like the surface of the Death Star.
Sure - if that long shaft emerging from underneath the city and reaching down into the clouds (possibly connected to the "gas mining" somehow) were to be hollow inside, then it would look like a gaping bottomless pit - but why does its wall have to look like the Death Star's surface? And also evoke the bottomless pit that was surrounding the tractor beam controls for some reason?
So at this point, Luke and Vader have gotten from a smoky industrial facility that you would expect from an industrial city like this, to what looks indistinguishable from the interior of an evil Imperial station or fortress - even though these interiors have been here for years, way before the Empire arrived here a few days ago, and effectively made it into its temporary evil space station fortress;
they hardly could've revamped the design of all these rooms and chasms during the short time they've been staying here, to make them look like an Imperial base instead?
Really by all looks, these levels beneath the carbon freezing facility, as well as those "prison rooms" from before, look like this for no other reason than that the Bespin city functions as a honey-trap Imperial fortress in this film;
and as the duel starts protruding into the increasingly Deathstarish looking environment, it seems like dream logic starts completely taking over any pretenses the environment initially had of "making sense in-universe":
each set is designed for the purpose of the movie's needs:
What's happening on a small and not even anywhere as immediately noticeable scale in Ep4's Deathstar, is taking place on a much larger scale here - the environments are designed according to the needs of the film, as well as to reflect the meaning of what's happening in the story as well as the protagonist's mental state:
the "control room level" looks like an Imperial fortress because it's functioning as one here, and exists as a representation of the dark place (morally and mentally) Vader is trying to lure him into; and the claustrophobic hallways, spider window and gaping chasm reflect and intensify Luke's bleak states of mind during those respective moments - the unfamiliarity of the environment reflects the hidden knowledge that he's about to discover, the hallways and thin bridge intensify his "trapped in a deadly situation" situation, and hovering above a gaping pit into nothingness is seemingly how he feels about having learned what he just learned: that his entire aspiration to go after his father, and what his trusted mentors had been telling him, were all lies, and he seemingly has way to escape the "dark abyss" that Vader is trying to pull him in (ironically the literal dark abyss is what he jumps into to escape it - having changed into representing the preferable nature of death/uncertainty to what Vader is offering him).
So how does this all compare to the Ep1 counterpart?
You see we need some kind of connection to reality?, and as absurd as a planet-sized space station with a giant laser is - it's still much more believable than the fact that Naboo has a gigantic power generator under its city;
accessible through doors in some kind of hangar bay for some reason.
And it's like underneath the main palace? And not like a 100 miles away in the middle of nowhere.
It's like having a nuclear powerplant under the White House - not necessarily the greatest idea....
To get this one thing right out of the way out of the bat, there is no indication of those power beams or anything else in this place somehow being hazardous like the fissile radiant material in nuclear powerplants - so at least there's that.
However the believability is certainly stretched a lot farther here than anything in Bespin - for one, Theed is not a relatively small city built around an industrial function, it's just a regular royal capital; so unless the Naboo culture has some kind of "the kings are also the producers of goods" thing going on, this "power plant" being right in the palace building seems like a non-sequitur;
being next to the fighter jet hangar might make a slight bit more sense, but still not really at all - plus the hangar's in the palace now, unlike the start of the film.
Another big difference here is that the "powerplant" area is not just extending downwards into bottomless chasms, but also upwards towards the unseen ceiling - and one might ask oneself whether the buildings seen from outside were really high enough to contain that massive area, although the Palace (despite not being a skyscraper) just might.
And also while there's nothing inherently absurd about underground levels, or a round bottomless pit leading underground, the latter hadn't been set up by an exterior shot of the station, with the "bottomless pit" axis growing out of the flying saucer's lower half and reaching into the clouds/gas below (in what had been established as a "gas mining facility") - this time all that stuff is literally coming out of nowhere.
However ultimately what really doesn't make sense, analogously to the Bespin "control rooms levels" beneath the freezing chamber, is it looking like an evil Imperial fortress - Naboo isn't an evil fortress, so why would it have an evil looking interior like this?
However, a major difference here is that while the Empire had only occupied Bespin for a short while, was intent on leaving again (unless Lando refused to cooperate, that is), the Trade Federation has been here for quite a while longer - certainly in "film time" terms it takes up the length of the entire movie, even if the in-universe time that passes between the invasion and the return to Naboo might be ranging between a significantly long period to a few days) - and by all looks they were planning to stay and had some kind of huge sprawling plans in mind that involved the entire planet:
"Is the planet secure?"
"We have taken over the last pockets of primitive life forms - we are in complete control of the planet now."
"Good."
And in this movie, the Trade Federation is a proto-Empire of sorts - not only collaborating with the Sith and led by the literal future Emperor, they also seem to be a dystopian megacorporation of sorts, who've already (unofficially?) taken over significant Republic territory:
"You can't take Her Royal Highness there, the Hutts are gangsters! If they discovered her-"
"...It'd be no different than if we landed on a system controlled by the Federation; except that the Hutts aren't looking for her - which gives us the advantage."
"Your Highness - with your permission, we're heading for a remote planet called Tatooine; it's in a system far beyond the reach of the Trade Federation."
Their ships literally look like mini Death Stars (with Saturn rings around them, to make it slightly less obvious?), and their interior generally looks very Empirey as well.
So, compared to the idea that one might easily think of to try and ground the Bespin look in the universe, namely that "the Empire has started changing this place they're occupying into their evil fortress", such a notion certainly makes a lot more sense in the context of Ep1's plot.
Additionally this is somewhat supported by the visuals of Gunray riding around on a crab-throne while in a darkly lit looking Palace interior at night - even if only in this scene here:
"Your Queen is lost, your people are starving... and you, Governor, are going to die much sooner than your people, I'm afraid."
"This invasion will gain you nothing! We're a democracy - the people have decided!"
"Take him away."
"My troops are in position to begin searching the swamps for these rumoured underwater villages. They will not stay hidden for long."
This also conveys some kind of notion of "them remaking the place into their own", even if technically it's just a creepy looking robot chair and this scene (along with the later Sidious scene where they tell him they've taken over those primitive lifeforms) happens to take place at night.
Ultimately though, even if making more sense than Bespin by comparison, it's still a heavy stretch on rational world believability - and, of course, there's no direct hints at this actually having physically taken place there.
Similarly to ESB, this duel starts with the villain getting in the heroes' way as they're there for a different mission (having waited for them from behind a closed door as well), and at least partially showing signs of following a plan to lure them into increasingly dangerous environments:
Maul arbitrarily opens the gate to the space room and leads the fight there - then he backflips onto a bridge even further away from the hangar, and is subsequently seen stepping back from Qui-Gon all up until ending up in that corridor with the red force fields, and eventually the sealed room with the gaping pit:
where he immediately reveals to have been pretending to be retreating from Qui-Gon and turns around at him the moment the force fields reactivate again.
So, just like with Bespin, there's a surreal, dream logic element here that extends and reflects the literal premise of the villain luring the heroes into a trap - the environments he's leading them into look like an evil fortress, evoke power, awe and danger, and feature both claustrophobic small rooms/corridors to make the protagonists feel trapped, as well as gaping pits and chasms showing just how deep they can fall into uncertainty and death, in what's getting brewed up by the villains here;
and analogously to Luke in Cloud City, while the 2 Jedi aren't literally "surprised" by this environment hiding behind the door of a benign looking palace (which can be attributed to it either making sense to them in terms of how real-world logic, or their reduced lucidity), it's a place they haven't been showing seeing at any earlier point, and reflects the much vaster scope of what's going on here (i.e. the Sith plan to take over the world) that's hidden from them, is shrouded by secret, and that they're only going to proceed to uncover gradually.
"There is something else behind all this, your Highness - there's no logic in the Federation's move here. My feelings tell me they will destroy you."
Unlike ESB this isn't something that they learn the full truth of in an instant, without any direct hints preceding it - with the possible exception of this:
"I cannot teach him; the boy has no patience."
"He will learn patience."
"Much anger in him - like his father."
"Was I any different when you taught me?"
Effectively, or if explicitly going with a "dream logic" reading of these movies, according to which places, characters, circumstances and hidden schemes pop into the universe's existence the moment they're imagined by the author / enter the narrative, both these environments materialize inside these buildings out of nowhere to reflect and enhance the mental states of the protagonists, the villainous intents and schemes, and the meaning of what's happening in the story;
just like, albeit on a much smaller scale, all those Death Star parts only materialized in front of the heroes in order to give them new dangers and obstacles to overcome - incl. the garbage chute beneath a latticed hole right in the prison corridor, the monster that made itself known right as someone said "could be worse", and the walls that started closing in on them right after the monster disappears.
Then she shoots a vent on the floor and somehow knows that it's a garbage chute... HOW'D SHE KNOW THAT?
And why would a garbage chute be grated like that? Usually that's just like a air vent or somethin'...
It could've led to a dead end, where they all got stuck somewhere...
Or it coulda let straight to a garbage incinerator - nobody knows what that is? So their idea is to jump in it?..
I guess it's better than nothing? I guess you're fucked one way or the other...
But shit I wouldn't follow her in there, I'd surrender...
However, exclusively comparing these ANH examples to the Theed spaceroom without mentioning the much more similar Bespin spaceroom, amounts to a very incomplete comparison - and the accompanying conclusion that:
You see we need some kind of connection to reality?, and as absurd as a planet-sized space station with a giant laser is - it's still much more believable than the fact that Naboo has a gigantic power generator under its city;
and that this warrants "complaining" about:
Now you might be saying to yourself, well, I did complain about the Theed power room, right?
But I never really complained about the look of the Theed power room - or the fact that they didn't have no railings either!
leads to the question whether Plinkett/Mike/Rich/etc. are aware of Empire engaging in a very similar (in fact directly analogous) and comparable display of environment surrealism, with "the Keymaker opening a portal into an evil dimension", and stretching this "connection to reality" a whole lot further and more noticeably than those Death Star scenes (with the garbage chute itself standing out among them all, in turn);
This trash compactor scene is really a lot of fun;
but it always felt like a "give them something to do" kind of scene, in a movie where nearly every scene is motivated.
It's one of those "lowest point" kinda moments, where our heroes struggle against opposition - but it doesn't really serve an overall purpose in the storyline.
It's fun, and tense, and memorable, don't get me wrong - but from a story perspective it doesn't advance the plot too much...
The plot here being that the bad guys wanna blow up the Rebel base - and Han; Luke; Chewbacca; and the useless complaining woman need to stop them.
Having them tied up in the garbage compactor only to escape and go right back to where they were? - eh, it was a little unnecessary roadblock in this series of events.
; and how exactly this fits in with their high appraisal of that movie:
Plinkett: The Star Wars Awakens
He accomplished his task of creating a sci-fi film about the Hero’s Journey; and then had to live under the shadow of “The Empire Strikes Back” – one of the greatest films ever made for which he had the least to do with creatively;
he desperately needed Star Wars to be about something bigger and greater than just popcorn entertainment - so he went back to his classic literature book and his CliffsNotes to search for ideas.
Plinkett audio commentary: SW Ep1
So at this point as we're wrapping up, you're saying to yourself: "Why does this guy get so worked up over Star Wars - these are films for babies! They're just made for 5 year olds that like to play with toys."
Well - I don't find that entirely true; and I don't think that's all this could've been.
This is more about achieving greatness; and those that make excuses for greatness when it falls horribly short.
In "Empire Strikes Back", the filmmakers took the material from the 1st Star Wars, and brought it up to the next level.
They took a movie with robots, and a floating cloud city, and a rubber green puppet, and made it completely realistic and believable;
This ANH-ESB comparison and how the latter "took it to the next level" including on the "realism" front, seems to ignore how much it turned up the gears on the surrealism and dream logic when compared to those Death Star scenes - particularly in that very same "floating cloud city" mentioned in this quote.
it's a very dark movie that's brilliantly done in every aspect - filled with heavy emotion, stark realism, and beautiful visuals.
For a brief moment, "The Empire Strikes Back" showed us what could really be done with these movies and characters.
I think people have a hard time differentiating between movies that are made for children, - and movies that children can also enjoy.
If you're any age, "Empire" can speak to you on some level; "The Phantom Menace" caps out at about age 10 - unless you're a drooling fanboy that just loves lightsabers.
And saying that "The Phantom Menace" is really "just a film for children" - is code speak for it sucking.
Even if a reasonable comparison between these analogous sections of ESB and TPM would lead to the conclusion that the former is surrealist art kino while the latter is nonsense that disconnects you from reality; that the former is "one of the greatest films ever made" while the latter "sucks" (incl. at the example of this particular comparison) - they haven't yet made such a comparison or analysis, it's missing from their thesis;
and judging by them praising ESB and its floating cloud city as "starkly realistic", as well as leaving all of this out of their Death Star / Theed comparison, strongly suggests that they haven't ever thought of any these points, and are severely overestimating the amount of rational sense-making that EpV is built on.
However unlike MauLer, who has a particularly severe case of this misconception not just about Ep5, but Ep4 as well (see his TFA review and my Mauler threads from this post's opening), and is trying to apply this rationalist approach (which he equates with "objective quality") to all movies he encounters - at least from what I've seen so far - RLM are clearly generally aware of non-rational approach to plotwriting and filmmaking:
See the Suspiria re:view, as well the somewhat mixed commentary on the evil look of the Event Horizon (also re:view) and how there doesn't seem to be an in-universe justification for its gothic design prior to it falling into the hell dimension - since Sam Neill's character isn't some kinda "hell worshipper cultist" who would construct it in that fashion.

2023.03.22 16:41 SlowShoes There are no games to play! (January-March Edition 2023)
https://www.rufftalkvr.com/blog/there-are-no-games-to-play-january-march-2023-edition/ When I read posts about how there are no games to play on the Quest, I simply can’t relate. I’m a voracious consumer of VR games, experiences and demos and currently have over 330 of them on my headset (not including my PCVR library). These experiences are a combination of both old and new items, and my wish list and library just keeps growing week after week with new releases, recommendations and game updates. This year, I wanted to keep track of all the games I’ve played and keep coming back to and catalogue them here in hopes that they may give you some fresh ideas of games to play, or reasons to revisit older games due to their updates or improvements.
Some of the games listed below, I can forsee playing all year long, and to be fair, others I've tried are not my cup of tea, but they may interest you enough to try them out. In either case, here are my quick thoughts on the 21 games I’ve played so far from January to March of 2023 along with links to them on the store.
- Bocce Time! ($8.99) From the developer: In Bocce Time! you'll head down to a peaceful park or atmospheric pier to test your bocce skills across 12 distinct courts. Jump into a quick match to 1v1 a random opponent online, create and join private rooms with up to 8 players, or play against AI across 3 difficulties to unlock additional ball customization options. With full cross-play, everyone's invited to join the fun! It's Bocce Time! My thoughts: This game has seen so many updates since it’s release and if you haven’t checked it out, there’s a free trial that opens up the whole game so you can try it out for yourself. With two parks (10 courses), an AI bot to challenge (that has great quips), collectible balls and support for up to eight people, this is a wonderful social game to play with friends. The Walkabout Mini Golf vibes are strong with this game, so players of that game will feel right at home. The latest update unlocked the entire park as a play area, and ensures that you and your friends will have unlimited options for where to play from. Along with Discord tournaments available if you're feeling competitive, this game is a real hidden gem and has grown a lot since its release. Absolutely worth a go, especially at that price point.
- Golf+ ($29.99) From the developer: GOLF+ is the ultimate VR Golf experience and the exclusive VR Golf game of the PGA TOUR. Join your friends for a round on Pebble Beach, Pinehurst No. 2, TPC Sawgrass and more. Want something more casual? Hang out at Topgolf for a night of music and games. My thoughts: Simply one of the best games on the app store. With all the great new updates such as Beat the Pro and new courses dropping every so often, it's one game that will be on my Quest until the next headset comes out. With the official PGA licenses, a variety of match options and support for four players, it’s an essential Quest game to play alone or with friends.
- Little Cities ($19.99) From the developer: Escape to the charming world of Little Cities, the most loved VR city building simulation game. Create your own little city and watch it come to life – from a humble village to a bustling metropolis. Design the layout and strategically plot amenities to make a perfect city where your citizens love to live. My thoughts: The latest update added citizens to the game. This adds a lot more flavor to your city and brings more life to your city. It’s a pretty simple SimCity style game that should keep you entertained for a few hours. I enjoyed this one, but wasn’t blown away. The extra DLC courses and achievements will give you more play time if you find yourself enjoying this one though.
- Compound ($19.99) From the developer: "COMPOUND is a randomized, rogue-lite, free-roaming shooter for Virtual Reality veterans. Duck and dodge around enemy fire in a tough-as-nails retro FPS with multiple locomotion options. Prepare to die - a lot - until you are good enough to reach the heart of The Corporation and take back what belongs to everyone..." My experience: Essentially Doom on Quest. The awesome blocky aesthetics work perfectly in this world. With a great gameplay loop and exciting gunplay this one will easily get its hooks into you. I found myself saying "just one more run" more often than I had time for. This single player shooter has so many achievements and difficulty levels that it kept me busy for quite some time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and still have more to do. A must buy for any fan of the genre.
- Walkabout Mini Golf ($14.99) From the developer: 8 unique 18-hole courses to master. Unlock NIGHT MODE for more challenging versions of all courses. Play solo, 1v1 online quick match, or create a private room with up to 8 players. Extremely accurate physics feel just like the real thing. Collect over 188 custom balls hidden throughout. Solve treasure hunts on each hard course to earn special putters. My thoughts: What more needs to be said about this excellent game? It’s on my constant rotation of games to play alone, with friends, or even with strangers - as the community is so warm and welcoming. The community is truly one of the best, and there are several discord servers for tournaments, weekly meetups and more. An essential game that every Quest owner should have.
- VR Pool ($19.99) From the developer: ForeVR Pool brings the coolest pool halls from around the globe straight to your living room! Challenge friends, family, and in-game pros to a game of 8-ball pool – no table required. Battle 12 bots to level up and take on Legendary challengers. Join a Quick Match or jump into a private multiplayer party! Friend in town? Share your headset with Pass & Play. Up the ante and stake in-game coins in matches against other players. My thoughts: This was pretty feature-light and choppy when it first launched, but it now has 9-ball in addition to 8-ball. If you bought it early, it's worth a quick revisit. It sticks pretty true to the ForeVR formula with its aesthetics and collectibles. The graphics aren’t going to win any awards and frankly put me off of it when I first booted it up, but the physics hold up and it’s a good time against the AI or a friend. With 2v2 matches coming soon, that is where this game could really be worth revisiting for some multiplayer fun and friendly smack talk.
- After the Fall - (Played on PC $29.99, available on Quest $29.99) From the developer: Welcome to ‘The Line’... Decades have passed since the apocalypse turned 1980s Los Angeles into a snow-crested wasteland, overrun by mutated undead. Starting out in an underground camp with up to 32 other player survivors, you take up arms as a new Harvest Runner. Your mission? Venturing out above ground to expand the Line’s reach into the city and fuel mankind’s survival for another day. My thoughts: What a fun game. The gunplay and sheer amount of enemies on screen via PC is just stunning. You're set in an apocalyptic world and must shoot your way out while gathering resources. The atmosphere is stunning, and the graphics are top notch as well. While I’m sure it’s downgraded a bit to run on Quest, don’t let that hold you back. You can play this co-op with up to three other players and bots will fill you out to four. The teamwork this game offers is wonderful. Find a friend or two and jump in this one, or play with the ever-full lobbies of people looking to join up. The latest Descension update adds two new maps and a ton of other bug fixes and gameplay additions. It's a great time to jump in with a friend!
- Cosmoniuous High (Played on PC $29.99, available on Quest $29.99) From the developer: From the creators of award winning titles 'Job Simulator' and 'Vacation Simulator', comes a new original creation—the comically catastrophic Cosmonious High! Welcome to your alien high school that's definitely completely free of malfunctions! After crash-landing into your first day, you'll unlock powers, explore the halls, and save the school from cosmic chaos. My thoughts: I would consider this is the third entry in the Job Simulator series - even though it's technically not in the same world. I’d really recommend you play them in order to fully appreciate the experience this game has to offer. Job Simulator was the first game, with jokes and fun interaction. Vacation Simulator expanded on that idea with similar characters, and what Cosmonius does is take the ideas of object interaction and conversations and cranks it up to the max. I had so much fun experimenting, talking with NPC’s, exploring the school and seeing what story the game had to offer. This is one of those games that just speaks to people like me who likes to push the boundaries to see what you can do in a game and rewards players for experimenting. It's a heartwarming game that continues to get quality of life and accessibility updates.
- The Invisible Hours - (Played on PC $29.99, but coming out on Quest, currently available in the Rift store.) From the developer: The Invisible Hours is a complex murder mystery playable with or without a VR headset. Players freely explore an intricate web of interwoven stories within a sprawling mansion. A group of strangers receive a curious invitation from the enigmatic inventor, Nikola Tesla, offering each of them the chance to make amends for their darkest wrongdoings. When the last guest arrives at Tesla’s isolated mansion laboratory, they find him dead – murdered. Disgraced Swedish detective, Gustaf Gustav, vows to find the killer amongst the other guests: a blind butler, a convicted murderer, the world’s most famous actress, Tesla’s former assistant, the son of a wealthy railroad magnate, and rival inventor Thomas Edison. But none of these people are what they seem. My thoughts: I heard so many great things about this game and it's really more of an interactive story than anything. You find yourself moving around the mansion, piecing together the intricate story and learning how all these people relate to one another and their hidden secrets. I had a great time with this game, it had a unique concept that kept me fully engaged throughout.
- Pokerstars VR (Free) From the developer: PokerStars, the world’s leading poker brand, has combined live and online poker in a truly immersive VR experience. Featuring Quest Pro support with face and eye tracking, advanced haptics, and mixed reality passthrough! My thoughts: This is one of my go-to games with friends. Once you get past the initial low-stakes tables where kids play and go all-in on many hands, you’ll find a new set of players that actually play smart poker and like to chat. If you have some friends, you can create your own private room and avoid that all together. It’s a relaxing game where you can meet new people and just chill in VR. It’s my social game where I go to unwind. Recent updates have seen them add craps and social poker rooms with slots and roulette. If you're looking to relax and play some poker, this free to play game will hit the spot. You can easily play this game for free and not ever spend a dime.
- Path of the Warrior ($19.99) From the developer: We interrupt this broadcast with breaking news...chaos in the streets of Rage City tonight! The myriad local gangs, once at constant war with each other have now unified under a mysterious new crime boss...Mr. S. Thugs have flooded the entire city, unleashing a wave of terror. The police are overwhelmed and the public is in imminent danger! Can anyone put a stop to the crime wave? Can anyone save Rage City? My thoughts: This fighting game is one that you can blow off steam with. It harkens back to the old Double Dragon or Final Fight arcade days and I highly recommend you play through this game with a friend as you’ll be laughing your way through it at the absurd combos and interactive objects and scenery you can use to defeat your foes. Find a bit of open room to play in, and punch your way through the game.
- Half Life Alyx Mod: The Undertow - (PC only, Free) From the developer: You play as Alyx, tasked with delivering a mysterious briefcase to the owner of an underground night club, upon arriving you realize this deal might not be so straight forward... Expected Playtime: 50min - 1hr. Features: Full-fledged Story with Voice Acting, Custom Sounds, Assets, and Gameplay, Unique Puzzles & Engaging Combat, Full Single-Controller Support and Drinkable Vodka (Finally). My thoughts: I’ve been working my way through some Half Life Alyx mods that bubble up to the top via Reddit or online posts. This one found its way into my queue and while it had a really unique setting, it was extremely buggy in one spot, to the point where I had to restart a section close to 20 times. I didn't find the end game satisfying, and with so many other great mods, it was a miss for me.
- Sheaf - Together EP (PC only, Free) From the developer: Enter virtual reality to listen to the debut EP “Together” of synthwave producer Sheaf. No gameplay involved -- just sit back, relax, and enjoy the music while you drive through a retro low poly world. The EP features 3 tracks, and each track comes with its own scenery, tailor made to fit its mood. You can start each track separately from the main menu. My thoughts: As noted in the developer description, this is really more a zen-like experience where you’re sitting in a car that drives down a road while chill music is playing. Certainly different from a lot of other “zone out” experiences that focus on geometric shapes, but the blocky visuals really conflicted with the chill vibe it was going for. Not really my jam, but if you like chill experiences, it might be for you. You certainly can't beat the price.
- Shooty Fruity ($19.99) From the developer: Do your job whilst shooting guns! Shooty Fruity combines job simulation with exhilarating combat that makes you feel like a true action hero - whether McClane, Wick or Rambo. Take on new roles and unlock weapons to fight your way through your career. Scan shoot repeat! My thoughts: I kept seeing this game show up in sales and various feeds so I finally tried it out. After 30 minutes I just was not having any fun at all. While the enemies were silly (various fruits and vegetables), the gun mechanics were lackluster. I just did not get into the gameplay loop of shooting and scanning groceries. It was just too repetitive for me and for that reason I can’t recommend it.
- What the Bat? ($24.99) From the developer: From the creators of WHAT THE GOLF? comes a silly VR game about navigating life with baseball bats for hands. Swing your way through over 100 levels of batting, cooking, shooting, smashing, parking, painting, pickling, petting, and WHATnot. My thoughts: I was a huge fan of What the Golf on iOS, and was quite excited when I heard about this sequel. The “high” price point turned me off for a while, but when UploadVR gave it their “game of the year” award, I finally pulled the trigger. I had high hopes, and it was fun… at first, but the gimmick started to wear really thin on me rather quickly. It just didn’t seem to have the same magic the first game had. I kept going through it in hopes that something would change, or capture that original feeling, but honestly, it was a grind to finish such a short game. I understand I’m probably in the minority here, but I was quite disappointed.
- Superhot ($24.99) From the developer: Multi-award winning, smash-hit SUPERHOT VR blurs the lines between cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem. The definitive VR action experience. Time moves only when you move. No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It's you, alone, outnumbered and outgunned. Snatch weapons from fallen enemies to shoot, slice and dodge through a truly cinematic hurricane of slow-motion bullets. It’s like nothing you have ever played before. Something is different here. Lose track of what’s real. My thoughts: You know it, and you probably love it. Like so many others, so did I. This was one of my first VR experiences years ago and I finally saw it through to the end. This game can be quite demanding for some levels requiring accurate shooting, movement and timing. This game offers a really unique take on gameplay and multiple ways to get through some levels really increase the replayability. With the unique achievements to strive for you have a real winner. A must own for all gamers.
- Tube Be Continued (Demo) (Full game $14.99) From the developer: Hello! Welcome to TUBE Industries: a hamster owned and operated tube puzzle emporium! Prepare for a tube-based, puzzle-filled, HAM-PACKED adventure with our charismatic leader: The BOSS. Here at TUBE Industries we provide the puzzles and you provide… the brains. No shady business here! My thoughts: I like to look at the new App Lab games that come out every now and then and I’m a sucker for a good puzzle game. This is a game where you connect mazes together for hamsters to run through. It was a weird story that sees you working with a Hamster CEO trying to save his company from the Board, which are all hamsters. Really weird stuff, but while the demo was fun, the puzzles were a bit on the simple side and ultimately, I just did not think it was worth buying at this point. That being said, if the demo grabs you I could see this being a fun few hours with new content planning to be added.
- Dart Racer (Free) From the developer: Dart Racer is an arcade racing game where you compete against AI during race and other players on the online leaderboards - features multiple race tracks and environments - steering based on throttle differential - interactive tutorial - customizable game and comfort settings - optional hand tracking. My thoughts: Now this is podracing! It really did feel like I was doing some classic Star Wars podracing, but it was quite tough to learn the controls. Once I got that figured out, there certainly was some fun to be had, but unfortunately, it just was okay for me and I dropped out after a bit. Give it a try for free, and keep in mind there are plenty of motion assists to play with so you don't get sick.
- Nock ($9.99) From the developer: Nock is bow and arrow soccer. Skate and fly around a pitch while using a bow and arrow to blast the ball into the other team’s goal. Compete in multiplayer ranked matches, or play casual custom games with your friends! Like a real sport, Nock is easy to learn but difficult to master. Block arrows let you create obstacles and you can even use your body to make a goal or save. A fast-moving ball can knock you out. Skill-based matchmaking keeps every game extremely close and competitive. Casual modes let you challenge yourself against bots or play with friends in custom matches. My thoughts: Rocket League but with archery. While I’m not a fan of archery games in general, this game really had the physics dialed in. I always felt like I was in full control of my movement and bow and arrow. Nothing ever felt like it was off, and the aiming was spot on. Every hit of the ball, or miss was my fault. An absolute blast with with up to four friends, and that’s how I recommend you play it - with friends. But there are leagues and tournaments readily available if get into the game. That being said, I’m pretty terrible at it, and will only play with friends who can tolerate my terrible skills.
- Into the Radius ($29.99) From the developer: An atmospheric open-world single-player survival shooter. You find yourself in the middle of the blighted zone, cut from the outside world. Your guns and your wits are all you have left. Fight the deadly enemies, dodge dangerous anomalies, and collect wondrous artifacts on your way to the Radius center to find your way out. My thoughts: I found myself constantly saying “I can’t believe this actually runs on a Quest.” The amount of items you can interact with, areas available to explore, systems to learn and missions to accept can be quite overwhelming. Honestly it took me about 5-7 hours of gameplay, tutorials and youtube videos until finally the game “clicked.” After this one fateful mission where I was over encumbered with items, low on ammo with minimal health and dealing with enemies at every turn, I was totally immersed and was having the time of my life. It was an absolute blast and despite being so tense - a joy to play. I did tone down the difficulty a bit, which made it much more playable and less punishing. Truly a great game if you like the loop of scavenging, planning your route ahead and making sure literally every bullet counts. While it lacks in story, it does have a lot of environmental details and little things that you have to find for yourself. If you like survival games, it’s almost perfect.
- Surgineer ($9.99) From the developer: Have you ever dreamed of being a real surgeon? Well… you are not gonna learn that here. Welcome to the most unrealistic surgery simulator where everyone can instantly become a terrible doctor. You will have to solve hilarious surgical procedures ranging from CPR to brain transplant or even removing alien eggs from a poor patient using a robotic arm! You always thought you had that surgeon in you? You better have a bulletproof malpractice insurance before getting your virtual hands on a patient! My thoughts: At such a low price point, I wasn’t expecting much. I remember playing Surgeon Simulator back in the day and this looked like that. Much to my disappointment it was much more terrible than I had hoped. Absolutely no fun was to be had here. I constantly fought with the controls, many times had no clue what to do and finally gave up in frustration. I understand part of the appeal is the wonkiness of it, but this game requires someone with a lot more patience than me to get some fun out of it.
There you have it, 21 different games played in three months. I would say there are plenty of games to play and enjoy on the Quest. I hope you find a few that you might not have heard of, or that you might find worth revisiting. Let me know on the Ruff Talk
Discord channel if you have a game you enjoy that I should try, I'm always open to recommendations. You can also find this article on the

2023.03.22 16:40 SlowShoes There are no games to play! (January-March)
When I read posts about how there are no games to play on the Quest, I simply can’t relate.

2023.03.22 16:37 SlowShoes There are no games to play! (January-March 2023)
When I read posts about how there are no games to play on the Quest, I simply can’t relate.
ShiftCarbon (SHFT.CN) is a platform that allows clients, large and small, to measure their GHG emissions comprehensively, set reduction goals, and embed carbon offsetting into their business. https://preview.redd.it/cqsed7ou5bpa1.png?width=564&format=png&auto=webp&s=9255460fb85f8f71b5987d65c769cd10a0c43c6a To gain a foothold in this socially responsible sector that also encompasses superior growth potential, SHFT is a viable and direct proxy. According to the Corporate Credit Institute, a carbon credit is a tradable permit or certificate that provides the holder of the recognition the right to emit one ton of carbon dioxide or an equivalent of another greenhouse gas. The main goal for creating carbon credits is to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from industrial activities to reduce the effects of global warming. https://preview.redd.it/qau4hbi26bpa1.png?width=1325&format=png&auto=webp&s=63b89982eac3a777cf0d91b4780b85ceb4fc2632 On February 23, 2023, ShiftCarbon announced a USD$5 million engagement with Saudi Arabia’s behemoth solutions by stc.
For context, here are its latest numbers:
1 SAR=$3.75 USD
• Revenues for 2022 totalled SAR 8.8 billion (USD$33 billion), an increase of 22.2% compared to SAR 7.2 billion for 2021
• Net profit for 2022 rose to SAR 1.054 billion, up from SAR 833 million, a year-on-year gain of 26.5%
• The company’s strong financial performance can be attributed to the acquisition of “Giza Systems,” which marked an increase in company revenues for Q4 2022
Commenting on the financial results for 2022, Eng. Omer Abdullah Alnomani, CEO of solutions by stc, stated, “Our exceptional financial results for 2022 are a testament to our commitment to business growth and expansion in the Kingdom. We continue to work relentlessly within the framework of our ambitious strategy to maintain our position as a digital transformation leader in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region. This deal is big news for ShiftCarbon. Not only does it provide significant revenue, it also puts the Company in line for the future massive ‘Smart Cities’ build of solutions by stc. Again, context. That project is expected to have USD$14 billion spent in 3-4 years. The Green Finance accredited facility is set to run solely on renewable energy and has the highest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating for sustainable urban planning.
In August 2022, the company announced its partnership with Saudi Arabian’s publicly-listed technology giant to build and offer innovative solutions to customers across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The two companies have now started working together to deliver a full suite of Smart City infrastructure to one of the world’s most ambitious luxury regenerative tourism destinations that aims to set new standards in sustainable development.
SHFT Wayne Lloyd states,
“It is an honour to finally kick off this historical engagement with our partners at solutions by stc. We are grateful to have been selected to participate in such a massive undertaking that aims to set new standards in sustainable development and further strengthen the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the global tourism map. We are thrilled to have our vision for smart cities embraced by the most valuable telecom brand in the Middle East.” The critical sentence in the recent PR for potential and current shareholders is, “The first phase of revenue from this project is estimated to be US$5 million with the potential for additional revenue in the form of a long-term supply of goods as the smart city becomes operational.”
While the engagement may be small by solutions by stc numbers, it represents an amount equivalent to CDN$ 6,808,510, more than twice the Company’s Market Cap.
With potentially way more to come and as a proxy for the various technologies, SHFT, unlike competitors, has gone global with a group with potentially bottomless pockets.
Certainly, worth a hard look.
