2023.03.22 14:02 dooster Verizon wireless dead-zone in Paulus Hook last ~3 weeks?
Hello - I know there was another thread a couple weeks ago but I wanted to try to get more information to help prove there is a real issue. Despite countless notifications to the contrary and every single VZW customer I have asked confirming the same problem, Verizon is insisting there is no service issue in Jersey City. Starting ~3 weeks ago, my iphone goes into SOS mode with absolutely no service as soon as I enter the 4-5 block area along Washington / Warren between Morris Canal and York St. As soon as I leave this area, I have excellent 5G service like I used to. Can others please confirm if they are also having this issue (what area specifically) and what type of phone you have? Thank you.
EDIT: finally just got someone at Verizon support to confirm there is a big issue in the area they are aware of. They are apparently waiting on a new part to arrive so they can repair the tower. Unfortunately no ETA on the repair. Not sure if I will wait or switch carriers. How is ATT service in JC?

2023.03.22 04:44 AskingBemused wifi extender w/ ethernet using ethernet vs. just wifi performance?
I tried searching this a few different ways, but couldn't really find a match for this particular question. I know the ideal setup is to run wired ethernet as much as possible for optimal performance, or from what I gather MoCA as a runner-up (going off its frequent suggestion across threads I skimmed).
However, I'm really curious about if running ethernet from a wifi extender (perhaps putting it in a wireless bridge mode, if I understand that right?) has any performance benefits over simply connecting over wifi. I'm aware that you could also use an access point or old router in a similar way, and that they're overall better compared to an extender, but I'm not entirely sure in which ways they're better in this more specific context.
Any insight into how performance compares across wifi extender using ethernet (so as wireless bridge?) or routers/access points used in a similar way would be much appreciated!
Also to be clear on the setup: Router with wifi -> Wifi extendeold wifi routeaccess point using ethernet -> Ethernet to computer.
Essentially only using wired ethernet on the last stretch to the computer. I'm suspecting that performance may not be that much better since you're still relying on wifi for the most part, but I've never run this setup personally so I dunno if that suspicion is correct or not.
Thanks in advance!

2023.03.22 02:27 RainbowShane Hello, Dish 5G!
I know Dish has had its issues lately, but I heard about the Boost Rainbow sim which launched today and scurried to my local Boost to get one and got it activated with the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022). So I took it for a spin; for Upstate, NY, it's no slouch, and the Southern Tier is already beating Verizon (I'll check in Verizon turns on C-Band and CBRS NR). So far, hand-offs via the Network Companion app have been speedy, and I even got a really nice number. So far, I'm impressed with such a new network. Time will tell if that continues!
Edit: I called a dear friend over VoNR, and they said it sounded crisp and very nice. Kudos to Dish for getting VoNR working
well Edit 2: For folks wondering my number was issued by ONVOY spectrum but reports as "Dish Wireless, LLC"

2023.03.21 21:41 thegrumpyorc San Diego County apolitical ranges?
Just moved back to CA from WA. Happy to be back, but hey--I got to buy a P365 for $395 when I was in WA, so it wasn't all bad. :)
Up in Washington, I managed to find a lovely trap/skeet range at which politics never came up. Sure, I was probably to the left of everyone but my shooting buddy, but everyone kept political views to themselves and we had a great time shooting, swapping guns (I got to shoot a Krieghoff and a DT-11), and generally using the range for its intended purpose.
For any fellow Californians, any suggestions for San Diego / South Orange County ranges that tend to leave politics out of it? Bonus points if it's outdoors, because the closest outdoor range to me (Escondido Fish & Game) requires an NRA membership to join, and that's not going to happen.
Thanks!

2023.03.21 20:25 sadmanlagging Building my first gaming pc, not sure if it works.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/k93JKp Budget: CAD $1500-2000 gaming pc. Buying from Canada. I don' t think I will be overclocking.
Games I want to play in high settings: Sekiro, Elden Ring, Nioh 2, MHW/MHR, Tomb Raider, God of war, The Witcher 3, Resident Evil etc
OS: Window 11 probably
I might do some upgrading in the future so I'm not sure if i should use a mini tower instead of a mid tower. Or does it not matter since it would be better to buy a new case?
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/kCwQk9 The parts I picked for this one is for midtower. Not sure how to update my bios though.
Peripherals: - Idk which keyboard to buy, ideally red switches since apparently it's good for gaming since it's fast and less distracting?
- The mouse im using rn is g703 Lightspeed wireless. I believe I should get a new mousepad but don't know which as the one I'm using rn is really old.
- Idk which monitor to buy. I want a good price to performance 144hz 1080p monitor.

2023.03.21 19:11 Haywood_Jablowmi Anyone ever claim Verizon Supertickets to see the Devils?
For those who don't know, Verizon Wireless customers are eligible to try to claim "supertickets", or VIP experience tickets to different sporting events and concerts in their area. Generally this involves 2 free tickets in a premium section or suite, and can also include free food and stuff.
Has anyone in
devils has ever claimed them for a Devils game? I just claimed a pair for Devils-Penguins on April 4th and I'm wondering what to expect from the experience.

2023.03.21 18:41 ProfPennyPincher $EMIN.C - 8,600 Hectare Land Acquisition Closed
Lithium is already one of the most sought-after resources across the globe due to nearly every technology now being wireless. And with this growth in demand expected to continue over the next decade, there’s a lot of potential to capitalize on lithium demand, especially at the current prices in the market.
And with $EMIN.C finalizing the deal with Talisman, they’re officially one of the largest landholders in Brazil’s Lithium valley in Minas Gerais alongside companies like Sigma Lithium.
- The additional 8,600 hectares brings their total land holding in the area to 34,000 hectares.
- The new property surrounds the original property where lithium sampling returned a significant amount of high-grade lithium indication.
- With all of the properties now fully acquired, it’s time for $EMIN.C to begin pursuing further exploration to deliver some results at their properties.
https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/spark-energy-minerals-closes-nova-140500187.html With buyout speculations at Sigma, other companies could be interested in investing in $EMIN.C considering the land package to valuation ratio. Only a $4.5M market cap relative to their 34,000 hectares gives the company a significant amount of upside potential here, so it’ll be interesting to see if Sigma can find a buyer or start production, which would have downstream impacts on $EMIN.C as they’re both significant landholders in the area.

2023.03.21 16:27 DrewCriv My experience with the Sunbeam F1 Daisy
Disclaimer: I was in no way sponsored or swayed by Sunbeam Wireless. All thoughts are my own.
I have been using the F1 Daisy for about a month now and here are my pros and cons.
To start out, yes there are a few bugs. Being a relatively new company, I expected this. When I first received the phone, the date and time were not syncing. Luckily this problem was easily fixed by calling their customer service line. After being walked through how to fix it by Sunbeam’s wonderful customer service representative this issue was fixed. Along with that, I noticed that when I try to turn the volume up the screen lags and I have to use the touch screen to drag the audio slider to the level I want it at.
Now for the pros:
The F1 is built well and has amazing reception and call quality on the Verizon network. I have tested this phone on both Verizon and their MVNOs (Specifically Consumer Cellular) and the F1 preforms great on both! The sound quality from both the earpiece and the microphone are also great. The “Basic OS” they use is fantastic and simple to use. The touchscreen display helps when trying to type longer sentences, and is very responsive.
Overall, the F1 Daisy is a pretty great phone for the price. I will say that the battery life is pretty lackluster. After every 10 minute call the battery usually drops by 5-10%. But on the flip side, the F1 charges extremely fast.
I’m still pretty new to this phone so many of my concerns could be fixed with future updates.
Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll try to answer them when I can!

2023.03.21 08:32 sappypappy Does anyone with US Mobile know if their Super LTE/Warp plans use Verizon's roaming partners (like in rural Eastern Kentucky)?
Trying to figure this out & its a messy subject. Apparently Verizon proper can sometimes use roaming partners to extend their coverage in areas where some regional towers have more of a footprint, but using the same tech. For instance, in parts of eastern Kentucky they use Appalachian Wireless to supplement their network. The phone will still say Verizon usually, and their own coverage map will show it as normal coverage without differentiation, but they're actually using their "partner network" of Appalachian Wireless. VZ Prepaid & their company owned MVNOs (like Tracfone, Visible, etc) I believe use this as well & reflect as such on their coverage maps or checking zip codes. BUT, some other separate MVNOs I checked like Boom Mobile (Red), Twigby, Red Pocket CDMA, etc that use VZ towers show that area as no coverage.
Since US Mobile is sorta a "3rd party" MVNO of theirs & on their own (not owned by Verizon proper), does anyone know if this type of extended "partner" coverage still applies? I'm specifically interested in that part of the country & what happens if I take my Super LTE/Warp phone/plan there & use it full time. Thanks!
