2023.06.03 02:36 jpathomas Error Content moderation filter?
Here is my prompt, created using the photorealistic plugin in Chat GPT.
Envision a scene of a griffin in full battle armor, perched on a castle turret. The griffin's armor is adorned with intricate engravings and gemstones, catching the light of the moon. The style should be ultra-realistic, with a focus on the texture of the griffin's feathers, the shine of its armor, and the rough stone of the castle. The lighting should be moody and dramatic, with the moonlight casting sharp shadows. The colors should be cool and muted, with a focus on silvers, blues, and grays. The shot should be taken with a telephoto lens, focusing on the griffin while the castle and landscape fall into soft focus. --ar 16:9 --v 5.1 --style raw --q 2 --s 750
Anyone have an idea about why this prompt generates a content moderation error?

2023.06.03 02:30 maggiebellant Museum of Us - Cannibalism Exhibit
| I’m curious if anyone else here has visited the Museum of Us in San Diego’s exhibit Cannibalism: Myth vs. Reality? I went in 2017 and the exhibit was supposed to close twice since then but it’s managed to stick around! When I went, I only had a few minutes after going to the San Diego Zoo. I kept seeing the flags for it around Balboa Park and was really confused, but it’s without a doubt the coolest museum exhibit I’ve ever seen (and 2nd best museum overall - Mob Museum in Vegas is currently 1st)! The exhibit features: - a wall showing famous pop culture cannibals
- how the word ‘cannibal’ has been used, often falsely
- a firsthand account of the Uruguayan soccer team trapped in the Andes
- an apothecary shop that will prescribe a medicine (made from a human body) to help with the common aches and pains
- Oregon Trail-style game
- lifesize game of operation with calorie counts on every muscle and organ.. can you survive off of what you choose?
- voting station of “is this cannibalism?” (biting fingernails, breastfeeding, etc.)
- lost at sea simulation drawing straws, complete with light and sound simulating storm (I was shaking because the storm was so loud and it got so dark in the room at one point lol)
I tried to find my photos from the exhibit but unfortunately I lost them in a Snapchat chat, so here are some general pictures of the exhibit. I don’t know how much longer they plan to have the exhibit open but this is without a doubt one of the coolest things I’ve ever witnessed! It’s very respectful and very in depth. The rest of the museum (which is a anthropological museum) has some of the most fascinating stuff about what makes us human. submitted by maggiebellant to Yellowjackets [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 02:30 zhoq Don Quixote - Volume 1, Chapter 51
Which treats of what the goatherd related to all those who accompanied Don Quixote. Prompts: 1) What are your impressions of the goatherd’s story?
2) How does this story compare to the previous interpolated stories we’ve heard, like the one of Marcela?
3) Why do you think the soldier bothered to run away with her only to rob her and leave her?
4) What do you think of the way Leandra’s father and the townspeople reacted to her disgrace?
5) Favourite line / anything else to add?
Free Reading Resources: Illustrations: - that which completed his happiness, as he used to say himself, was his having a daughter of such extraordinary beauty, rare discretion, gracefulness, and virtue, that whoever knew and beheld her, was in admiration
- He used to seat himself on a stone bench, - (coloured)
- - under a great poplar-tree in our market-place, and there he would hold us all gaping, and listening to the exploits he would be telling us.
- they found the poor Leandra -
- - in a cave of a mountain (coloured)
- Vicente de la Roca had deceived her
- he conveyed her to a craggy mountain, and shut her up in that cave

Past years discussions: Final line: ‘This is the story I promised to tell you: if I have been tedious in the relation I will endeavour to make you amends by my service: my cottage is hard by, where I have new milk, and very savoury cheese, with variety of fruits of the season, not less agreeable to the sight than to the taste.'
Next post: Sat, 10 Jun; in seven days, i.e. six-day gap. [next week]

2023.06.03 02:11 buckeye-hawk86 Cold Feet
It should have been the happiest day of our lives. Esther and I were to be wed in the middle of August after a month’s long courtship. The plans had been made, the feast was being prepared and I was a nervous wreck. How could I not be?
We formally met last fall at the harvest festival, though we’d been aware of each other our whole lives. In a small town like Sprucevale, Ohio, everybody knew everybody.
Her father didn’t like me, which I suppose is common for those who have daughters who fall in love. Her mother was too busy taking care of the younger children in the family to pay any mind to what her eldest child was doing with her life.
When I wasn’t working on my family's farm, I would walk over to see Esther. She was always smiling, and usually surprised to see me, especially when the snow was blowing and most folk elected to stay indoors close to a fire. The more time I spent with her, the more I knew she was the one for me.
As the ground thawed and the flowers began to bloom, I started working up the courage to ask her father for her hand. I’ll never forget the day I decided to do it. I rode over to their house, wearing my Sunday best and ready to do whatever it took to get his blessing. My bravery quickly faded, however, when I walked into the barn and saw him standing near his horse with a rifle.
It turned out, he was getting ready to go hunting and he invited me along. I knew I couldn’t say no, even if I wasn’t properly dressed for the occasion. As we rode out, he asked me if I had come over to see his daughter again. Stumbling over my words, I told him that I had, in fact, come to see him. When he didn’t say anything in return, I carried on telling him how I loved his daughter and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.
I wasn’t sure if I was rambling on too much or if he was just not listening, at least until we reached a clearing where a large buck was standing at least a hundred yards away. Esther’s father grabbed his gun from its holster, took aim and fired.
The buck went down right away.
Turning back to look at me, he had a big smile on his face. After what felt like an eternity, he told me I had his blessing to marry Esther but he cautioned me to remember that day. I helped him load the buck and then rode off before he could change his mind or show off more hunting skills.
Returning to the farm, I found Esther and asked her to ride with me to one of our favorite spots. We were standing beneath a flowering dogwood tree next to the river when I asked her to marry me. She tried to pretend she hadn’t heard me just so I would ask it again before she finally said yes.
So, spring faded into summer, and we decided on a wedding date of August 12. We had a big party to celebrate the engagement and I started working on our future home with the help of my father and brother. It seemed as though nothing could go wrong, but if it had all gone right, I wouldn’t be here now.
As August drew closer, I found my nerves getting the better of me. My stomach was causing me pain from time to time, with the frequency increasing with each day.
Weddings in a small town are a big deal, and everyone gets involved in one way or another. The house was complete by the first of August and I moved in to make sure everything was right for our future family. Esther wanted to see it, but I told her she would have to wait for the night of the wedding as it was supposed to be a surprise for her.
A few days before the wedding, I confided in my father how my nerves had been bothering me and he assured me it was normal to have butterflies going into such a big event. I took his word for it, though I wish I hadn’t.
The day before we were to be wed, I found myself in a lot more pain. Not wanting to be a bother to anyone, I decided to take a walk and try to calm down. There was a trail near my new house that went along the river, and I thought the calm of the water would help. As I walked, I found the pain growing worse and worse in my stomach, until I felt like I was about to split open.
I held my right side as I walked, feeling worse and worse with each step. My vision started to blur and I felt myself falling off the bank, into the river below. I passed out and the pain finally subsided.
When I woke, I was back in my house, unsure of how I got there or what day it was. As I climbed out of bed, I heard a knock at the door followed by the voice of my brother asking why I wasn’t at the wedding. Panicking, I yelled back that I was on my way as I dressed and ran to the door. By the time I got outside, he was gone, likely back to the ceremony to tell everyone I was coming.
I hurried down the road, managing to arrive as several guests were leaving. I tried to stop them, but they ignored me as they walked past. I heard a few whispers from people wondering why I didn’t show up, some even saying they expected as much. My own father said he wasn’t surprised that I backed out after being as nervous as I was.
I was starting to get upset at them for ignoring me when I saw Esther sitting on the steps of the altar. She was staring off as if in shock, and I walked up to her expecting some kind of response only to be met with silence when I apologized.
I reached my hand out to touch her shoulder, but it went right through. She shuddered and looked around, putting her hand up to where I tried to touch her. As the realization hit me, I stumbled backwards, landing on the ground.
I was dead.
But that couldn’t be. I would know if I had died, right? I thought about falling into the river, how I had floated away. Where was my body? Someone had to be looking for me, they had to know I wouldn’t just leave the love of my life at the altar.
I tried again to comfort Esther, to get her attention, but nothing worked. She sat there, a blank look on her face, for hours. All the guests had gone home and the food was starting to spoil before her friends finally convinced her to go inside and lie down. I followed her, sitting on the bed and watching as she finally drifted off to sleep.
The next few days were rough for both of us. She kept asking why I had left her, crying and refusing to eat anything. All I could do was watch as she became a completely different person. The light in her eyes that I had fallen in love with was gone, replaced by darkness. Her friends finally convinced her to eat small amounts, but she only did it to make them go away.
Over the next several months, she faded more and more. Her parents tried to make her leave the room, but she just sat, stone-faced, as they did everything from asking politely to yelling at her. Even they eventually gave up, leaving her alone with only me to watch as she withered.
By late November, I started going out for walks when she slept. The pain of seeing her like that was unbearable. At first, I would only go out for a few minutes at a time, but I started staying out longer and longer. After a few walks I got the idea to start looking for my body, hoping in the back of my mind that finding it would somehow break the spell over Esther and she would be able to move on and find happiness again.
I walked for miles every night, looking up and down the river. After a while I forgot what I was even doing out there. The nights seemed to be growing darker, and the days were barely distinguishable from the night. The wind blew snow all around me, but I didn’t feel cold.
One morning, I returned from my stroll to find the bed, where Esther usually laid, empty. I felt relief surge through me as I believed she had finally moved on. Then I heard crying from the front room.
Walking through the house, I found Esther’s mother on a chair near the fireplace, sobbing into her hands. The rest of the family was gathered as well, but Esther was nowhere to be seen.
I was only able to take in the scene for a moment before it faded, darkness taking over again. As the light returned, I found myself in the cemetery. It was spring and a crowd was gathered around one of the graves. As I walked up, a feeling of grief overwhelmed me and I heard someone say she died of a broken heart.
As I looked around at the crowd, I saw someone dressed in white standing at the gate to the grounds. Esther had a look of rage on her face as she vanished before my eyes. I tried to find her, explain what happened, but she kept disappearing.
I walked constantly around the town, looking for her. She would show herself from time to time, always with a look of hatred before leaving again. The buildings around us faded and crumbled, but we remained.
The small town became nothing more than a legend, and we stayed. Some days I don’t even remember why we do this, play this game. Some days I can’t remember why it was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives.

2023.06.03 02:03 Stephmarie96 2023 Tucson, engine coolant leaking
Well. I have an appointment Monday at my dealership. Got my 23 Tuscon N Line in October 2022, it has 5400 kms to date. last week noticed it had a leak popped the hood.. nothing unusual. Yesterday huge puddle underneath, popped the huddle coolant reservoir is completely empty, two leaks coming underneath the front part of the car (which have since stopped as I’m assuming there’s just nothing left). Have to get it towed to the dealer Monday for its appointment. Has anyone had anything similar happen? Coming from being a ford owner I didn’t think the bar would get any lower but to have a Major issue like this after 7 months with a brand new car. I am not impressed.
Edit to add: there was no warning at all about any potential issue on the dash, no lights or warnings, nothing.

The Main Goal:
Well if you’re browsing this subreddit then much like me, you were alone this weekend and I’m sure you’d like to change that as much as me. I won’t lie, I am going through a rough part of my life right now. It’s difficult for me to find the energy for anything at the moment and I’m just really seeking affection in general, anything that will give me a push. I don’t want to be that person who brings everyone down but I could really use someone to talk to right now. I’d really like to find someone who’s similar to me so much to the point that we do everything together and talk about everything while not having to pretend to be interested. I want someone with whom we can mutually spew our emotions onto and have those feelings reciprocated. Not an emotional punching bag, but an emotional teddy bear to hug and cuddle until everything feels better as many times as we need. There’s people who I’m sure have told you the same, they’ll be there no matter how many times you need the support, no matter how many times the insecurities and bad thoughts come back but they don’t mean it. I will be the exception, I’m not so ignorant to think some nice words and tales of relating to you will magically forever heal whatever ails you then get mad when you seek the same support again. Mental ailments are rarely temporary and I don’t care about someone because they’re perfect, caring about someone means being there no matter how many times they need you to be. It doesn’t feel like a chore, it doesn’t get old, and it never will.

(2.a)
What I'm Seeking:
I will upfront let you know if I’m clicking better with someone else or if you’re the one, I’m not here to tread the sea of fish or keep my options open, I’m here for one singular person.
(2.b)
Relationship:
A relationship is difficult for me right now, it’s been nearly half a year since I got out of my last relationship and the reasons for it ending are partially responsible for how I’ve been feeling and why it’s so hard for me to seek the comfort I so desperately crave. I will tell you about it but for the sake of not treating the entirety of the internet as my therapist, it’ll be in private. I really need the comfort of intimacy and the warmth of someone who cares. I'm not going to feel better if I just sulk and don’t move on. This is my attempt to get better, I’ll admit I’m not great right now and I don’t expect you to be either. If we can help each other heal, then I’d be more than happy :) A relationship isn’t just being there for when someone’s at their best. Even if a relationship is hard at the moment, I do want a life partner and I don’t want to be alone. Things aren’t going to get easier without you so I don’t want to hesitate. I view my other as an equal, I don’t like categorizing us into specific roles. We take care of each other and treat each other how we like to be treated, whatever that is, it's as simple as that. I don't care if you're "successful" or not, living simple lives with our days filled with love is the ultimate measure of success to me.
(3)
Personality:
(3.a)
On the Surface:
As you can tell I can be rather… stoic but that’s largely due to my current stressors, I truthfully am goofy and fun loving but I just can’t find it in me right now. I want to return to that but without someone to light up my world it’s been difficult to just have fun and enjoy stuff. I’m definitely more introverted, you won’t catch me at any parties or really outside at all. I definitely prefer being home though the occasional outing is not out of the question and one day I’d like to travel to other countries because I think that kind of perspective is important.
(3.b)
The Core of My Being:
I like being a spectator to it all and if we bear witness to humanity burning or its miraculous recovery, I want to watch it with you. I enjoy watching humanity advance, less so when it devolves but I want to watch it to the end nonetheless. I’m both a realist and someone who lives with my head in the clouds dreaming of scenarios or worlds that don’t exist. I’m saying that I enjoy a good narrative and can suspend my disbelief to enjoy something but you won’t catch me refusing vaccines or ignoring blatant facts for the sake of some pseudo science or witch doctor’s remedy. I’m an atheist but I do not rule out existence after death, not because I’m agnostic but because due to the nature of potentially infinite time at some point after how many googol years with a googol amount of 0s after that, something’s bound to replicate your consciousness perfectly at some point. It’s actually a really fascinating topic I like talking about. If infinite time and infinite possibilities exist, does non existence exist? Though that’s an awfully existentially dreadful thought process considering the ramifications of infinite existence and infinite possibilities during said infinite existence. I would say I’m confidently left leaning and I don’t think I could truly get along with anyone right leaning, at least America’s definition of right leaning. Left and right seems to have just become; do people deserve to suffer or do they deserve to live good lives? Being political is not something I expected to become but how can you not be when crimes against human rights are being passed on a daily basis and at the end of the day, everything’s political. Oftentimes I imagine the perfect moment as relaxing with my significant other playing games or cuddling in a cold room under blankets.
I value that special someone above all of the existential thoughts, the bad of the world, the good of the world, they practically become my world. So many worries wash away when I’m with them. I don’t know if that’s the defense mechanism my brain created to not feel bad 24/7 but if it is, I’m currently without it.
(3.c)
Insecurities:
I talk of philosophy and politics here but really I spend most of my time just playing games, watching stuff, and trying to not be sleep deprived. I’m also nowhere near as well spoken, heck sometimes I feel like my speech is broken. I won’t claim to be something I’m not, I sit at home while I complain about the world doing nothing about it wishing I had someone here with me. I’m not noble nor do I really want to be, I have morals I uphold but much like most other hypocrites I acknowledge that my comfortable life is built on the suffering of others without doing anything about it. Why? My sleep problems? Am I depressed? Is that why I have no energy to do anything? Do I just think nothing I could do could help? I can’t nail it down myself, maybe it’s a mix of everything, maybe I’m just a bad person. I have always told myself that if I had wealth I would help people but if I get that kind of wealth will I just become a wealth hoarder who tries to justify my riches as something I earned rather than something given to me through incredibly lucky circumstances? If I do help people is it because I’m a good person or out of guilt? Will I die alone? I feel like I drive everyone away with my clinginess, I get paranoid often and need reassurance often. It’s something I want to work on, something I’ve been trying to work on. Hearing that someone cares about me just never gets old. I value self awareness even if it’s painful.
(3.d)
Socializing:
I’m definitely a socially anxious/awkward mess, especially around strangers. I do feel a large amount of anxiety in public, people can’t tell by looking at my face since I kind of go stone faced in an attempt to block everything out but yeah you’ll notice that if we go out in public. Growing up my pediatrician said I was probably autistic, never got a formal diagnosis so that’s just great. But yeah that explains why I can’t make eye contact with people, I kinda just stare at the ground and avoid their gaze at all costs. A lot of these social struggles go away to a great degree once I know you for a bit but yeah I apologize for how terrible I am at socializing at first. Don’t let my social struggles fool you though, I love cuddling and being close with my person.
(3.e)
Sexuality:
I am a heterosexual male, though I’m not very masculine like at all. I may even be a bit feminine sometimes. Not that I believe any activity or manner of acting belongs to a gender but I don’t know how else to describe it. I’m definitely super affectionate and love it when my partner is too. I am open to dating demi people but I do have a libido so I don't think asexual would work out.
(4)
Interests:
(4.a)
Video Games:
As stated before, I do spend a lot of my time playing video games. It’s been hard lately with me having no energy but I really do want to play more games and have a good time playing them with you! I primarily play on PC though I do have a switch. I’m primarily into platform fighters, roguelikes, open world, survival, and sandbox games. As for single player story games, I enjoy watching them through twitch or youtube but for the most part I don’t play them myself. I’d watch you play them though!
Here’s a list of games we can play:
-Minecraft (Java)
-Risk of Rain 2
-Gunfire Reborn
-Roboquest
-7 Days to Die
-Phasmophobia
-Rust
-Unturned
-Bloons TD 6
-Platform fighters: Super Smash Bros. Melee, Slap City, Multiversus, Flash Party, Fraymakers
Whatever you want to play I’ll give it a shot! I will say that League bores me to death but I’ll play it for you :) I try to avoid MMOs, not because I don’t like them but because of how addicted I can get to them. I enjoy learning games in-depth so MMOs can be a fast track to addiction.
I recently got Kerbal Space Program 2 and ehhh not really worth it right now but hopefully later it will be? I’m super excited for Tears of the Kingdom! In the far off future I’m excited for Rivals of Aether 2 which is a platform fighter releasing in 2024, let me know of your most anticipated releases and I’ll see if I could play them with you!
Also I never got into FPS games but I could totally see myself playing like CoD with you or Escape From Tarkov. Any FPS really, I’m down.
I am a fan of Pokemon but with how things have been lately I don’t know how long that will last. Pixelmon is a common Pokemon mod I play for Minecraft if you want to play that! Also if I say I want to play something with you I mean it but there are often times when no matter how much I want to I'm just drained and can do little more than lay in bed so please don't think I'm making an excuse.
(4.b)
Science:
I really enjoy keeping up with the latest advances in pretty much everything, it could be biology, technology, astronomy, anything! I love seeing progression and I love talking about it! Really I could go on and on about what I’m obsessing about that day. I particularly love technology, ask me for my laptop specs I dare you. When I was little I always wanted to be a scientist of any kind but then insomnia and fear of college stuff hit me like a truck aaaand that’s the end of that dream.
(4.c)
Anime:
You got me, I like anime but I’d like to think my tastes are benign.
Here’s some of my favorites I can list from the top of my head:
- To Your Eternity
- Vinland Saga
- Spice and Wolf
- Re:Zero
- Mob Psycho
- Dr. Stone
- Attack on Titan
- Spy x Family
- My Hero Academia
- Ranking of Kings
- Demon Slayer
Okay I can go on and on but I will say I don’t like pointless fan service and the spamming of cliche anime moments. I mostly enjoy action and anything well animated if it doesn’t have a potato story. Heck Demon Slayer could be my top 3 out of season 2’s animation alone. I don’t watch slice of life often or romance but I would with you!
(4.d)
Misc:
I’m not going to go on and on about the tiniest little things when the main ones are covered but I’ll watch pretty much any show with you and anything really. I like random youtube videos that explain some kind of lore or mystery, sometimes mini documentaries too.
As for food I looove sushi and I’m a sucker for fast food. Okay and candy, definitely candy.
I used to play tennis but haven’t really had the opportunity nor friends to play it with and I’m way too socially anxious to seek it out. Also I will say that when we move to something like discord I type waaaay more casually. I’m not going to expect long paragraphs back and forth like we’re writing English papers for each other, I do enjoy long conversations but seriously don’t worry about having to put the utmost effort into every response, I just like making good first impressions I guess.

Having physical preferences makes me feel shallow, if I could make myself not have them I would but unfortunately that’s now how that works. I don’t care if you’re shorter or taller than me and I don’t care if you weigh more or less than me. All I ask is that you’re slim-average weight. I would never ask for someone to be something I’m not. I don’t care about tattoos or piercings.**(6)Expectations of You (Relationship Only):**I am not looking for someone “exciting” or someone to “keep me on my toes” I’m not looking for someone to cater to my every whim or anything like that. I don’t care if you’re “boring” or if you aren’t “successful”. I know it’s a common thing for people to not want a “boring” relationship and to seek something argumentative or something with constant challenges but I just want to be with you. That’s not saying I want us to be haphazard, I don’t want us to make poor decisions for the sake of yolo and I want us to always be rational, especially with each other. I want you to be someone I can trust to make decisions and weigh the options with a level head, I’ll try my best to live up to the same for you. Most of all I want empathy, understanding, someone to feel the utmost comfort and trust in.

Living Situation:
Currently my life is pretty relaxed, I work 3 times a week as a night shift stocker. I currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment with my roommate but we’re looking to move into someplace larger by the end of the year if everything works out. The internet is weirdly great for Ohio too like I have fiber and later this year we’re supposed to be getting dedicated fiber so that’s neat. Deal Breakers:
Might as well make this simple and make it a list.
- Anti-vaxxers
- Unironically believing astrology
- Right wingers
- Hard drugs (occasional 420 and alcohol is fine, may even join you)
- Wanting children, there was a time when I was younger when I wanted children but with the state of the word that’s a definite no and I feel like I wouldn’t be able to handle the stress. I’d love a stress free life with as much time with you as possible.
- Homophobic

- Super Religious
- Don’t be a bigot and don’t deny facts.

Closing Remarks:
Well you made it, I was thinking that finding someone I’d be willing to put a lifetime of effort into at least required this much effort. If I think of anything more I’ll update the post. Also about timezones, it really doesn’t matter where in the world you are. I don’t have a sleep schedule and I have most of the week off from work so it really doesn’t matter.
I request that in your response you do put effort into it, it doesn’t have to be anywhere near as long as this but at least enough so I know that you read this and enough about you so I know why you saw potential compatibility. I will seriously read all of it and respond the best I can. I do also request a pic included in your response (sfw please) or one soon after we start talking to prove identity, I’ll send identity proving pics too. (1)
(2)
(2.a)
What I'm Seeking:

2023.06.03 01:55 TheTunafish_ Dual Laptop or Laptop+Desktop?
Greetings everyone,
Recently I acquired a Razerblade 15 2022 (i9-12900h+3080ti). It’s beautiful as a portable workstation and gaming system but I also need something bigger and stationary, so I’m thinking of building a PC, (with a 4070ti). However there is another option: an Apple MacBook Pro 14 with a M2 Max and 30gb GPU and 16gb neural engine, and I’ll use my current Razer with an external monitor.
I am a traveler to do work and design, so I’ll need a portable powerhouse that is light and has long battery. And the Razer is not one of them. So shall I use my razer ad it is, with a desktop or get the razer as a desktop and get a MacBook?

2023.06.03 01:53 dm_me_kittens My boyfriend made me cry just now
Last week my best friend since 2017, and boyfriend since 2022, and I closed the gap. I drove 16.2 hours to help him pack and we then drove 15 hours back to my place. My son absolutely loves my boyfriend and they get on like peas and carrots. Our cats aren't jiving so well but they're very slowly warming up to each other. We are both WFH so during downtime we make coffee or food, and chat. Waking up next to and falling asleep next to him in magical, and I love that we are now doing every day life together.
So what did he do that made me cry? His work set up is in our bedroom and he is currently playing a game with some friends. I decided to take a small nap and left the lights on so he could see, but a moment later he got up, tuned all the lights off, and blew me a kiss as he sat back at his computer. I shed a few tears because he makes me so happy.
Y'all, the wait, the yearing, all the pain of being apart from him was worth it.

2023.06.03 01:44 SaphiraLuna1 I think I finally figured out my Kitchener essences!
| After a lot of deliberation and comparing myself to the celebrities I get compared to most often (mostly Emma Stone since I've been dying my hair red, but also got a lot of Anne Hathaway and Emma Watson when I was young and my hair was still brown), I think I've determined my dominant essences to be Classic, Romantic, and Gamine. What do we think, did I get it right? Photos in order for easy reference: 1. My birthday where I had fun with a more dramatic makeup look 2. What I look like on a daily basis 3. Date night photo 4. My 2022 Halloween costume. Sorry the photo isn't the greatest quality zoomed in 5. One of my favourite outfits. Probably more Dramatic-Classic-Gamine but I love it nonetheless 6. A rare photo with no makeup 7. From a photoshoot I did, we were going for a historical painting look. This is what largely convinced me I had a good amount of Classic essence cause I feel like it looks like the photo could actually be a painting, though others may disagree and I'd love to hear different opinions 😊 submitted by SaphiraLuna1 to DressForYourBody [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 01:35 PostPriorPre How serious can this be? I feel like I'm gaslighting myself.
| Background is that for the past 2 years I've felt sick. Not the sick where everyone around you can tell but the kind where you know you don't feel well but "nothing is wrong with you" and no one really thinks you're actually sick. I've gained weight and haven't been able to lose it even with doing CrossFit, weight lifting, yoga, exercise 5x per week (one type of workout per day). I used to be in incredible shape but it slipped away. I had assumed it was Covid weight gain but for the past year I sucked it up and worked out and ate right! I haven't lost it and I feel like crap. The weight isn't about appearance, it's about the way I feel and how my body isn't functioning correctly. Also I've had a horrible rash on my foot that will not go away no matter what. And horrendous digestion and sensitivities to food and even water. Anyway, I lived in a house from November 2020-August 2022. I started noticing weight gain, mental/cognitive issues, depression, rash, ect all in spring 2021. I've just realized how miserable I've really been. I tried so many people to get help, NDs, traditional Chinese medicine doctors, MDs, EMDemotional work, so many supplements, juicing, diets. Nothing worked obviously and I felt crazy. I summed it up to me being lazy so I pushed myself even harder to be "perfect" because i must not have been trying enough, right? That of course didn't work either. November 2022 (last fall) my chest started feeling heavy like I had a asthma when I worked out. That continued until January 2023 when I finally stopped all exercise and movement because I gave up. I suffered even while taking a break and letting myself rest. April 2023 I went back to light exercise and still struggled. I kept getting sick all the time. Finally this past week I was so down that I cut open my mattress. I attached a picture of what I found. I had this mattress in the house where I suspected mold and lived in from summer 2020- summer 2022 then I brought it to my new place. I could not believe it. Finally I wasn't crazy anymore, I was validated! Would this mold cause my sickness? Where do I go from here? Testing, treatment, help! I am so sick and can hardly function. I don't have much to spend on treatment but I need it bad. Any suggestions or help would be such a blessing for me. I dream of leaving for a month and going to a clinic to get help healing. Does this exist? I saved some of the mattress in a baggie to possibly get the mold tested. Any suggestions for that? Please share reliable sources. Thanks for all the help in advance. submitted by PostPriorPre to ToxicMoldExposure [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 01:32 ReemBae Best dog pen setup for ground substrate?
Hello friends! I have a little boxer bulldog mix and I want to set up a small fenced in pen for her to use the bathroom via dog door when she needs. The space is going to be 18’x8’ and it’ll be a 6’ tall privacy wooden fence with a gate. My question would be, what is the best substrate to use for the ground that’s easiest to maintain and easy on the puppers feet? Simple as grass? Fake turf, large flat stones stacked close together, gravel? I’ll have a hose setup in the pen to spray anything down that needs it and a motion light / camera combo set up too. Anything else that she may like?

2023.06.03 01:24 Fabiann_02 can you possibly solve this or provide insight? (Long) (Very interesting case)
First and last post here!
This may be a long read, but I truly, truly appreciate it if everyone would stick around and add their insight to this.
Background: 21 male, 5'10, Caucasian (Scottish, Slovakian, French) Location: Canada
I have 2 sisters, 2 nephews, and 1 niece, which is important to factor in, and I'll explain why briefly.
When I was just little used to light up bright red only on my face and neck typically only in stressful or public situations (terrible social anxiety), it wasn't itchy, just hot and red and I would sweat a lot. According to my mom (54), she used to get the same thing in front of people but eventually grew out of it.
Now regarding my niece and nephews, they also get red in the face and have trouble regulating body temperature but not due to any type of anxiety, as it stands we could call it idiopathic and it resembles Lupus or maybe rosacea however - my oldest nephew also has some skin problems and my youngest often gets fevers and hives from many things but treats it with things like advil.
The above is important in MY case I believe because when I was around 13 I was put on 20mg of cipralex (2014), in October 2019 (17) I went into anaphylaxis for the first time due to amoxicillin which I took due to sinus congestion (mom also has chronically) and I had it lying around from a previous infection, the anaphylaxis scared me into not taking any medication so I abruptly cut down my cipralex and for some reason believed I wouldn't need them anymore.
After doing this, I one day woke up with the most severe depersonalisation and derealisation anyone could ever have alongside a gross number of other discontinuation symptoms which lasted over 3 months and eventually subsided after reinstating 10-15mg of the same medication, the most IMPORTANT part of this is I had developed Tinnitus and anisacoria after this AND I couldn't take the meds anymore because I developed symptoms of seratonin toxicity so I had to get off all together and just deal with it.
Fast forward to 2021-2022 and now things are serious, my body is behaving terribly since I've changed things up and it's worth mentioning that the rash / redness I used to only get on my face and neck had began to progress down to my chest and eventually to my legs but it's not itchy and only happens in the sun, in stressful situations/ conditions. That's the least of it, I began getting constipated by almost ALL foods and chicken and rice were my only tolerable foods (until they weren't), I wasn't getting rashes but it's like I developed this hypersensitivity in the signals from my stomach, it began feeling tight and caused me to be severely constipated for over 33 days (not exaggerated), my blood sugar was 1.3, you could say I was intolerant to almost everything but not allergic.
This is where things got weird, at this point I've seen almost all of the BEST specialists in Canada and been to the best hospitals which costed me a lot of money that I just happened to coincidentally have (now I don't) and a lot of time, as I mentioned I had been extremely constipated UNTIL I received saline solution VIA IV injection overnight, I got home a day later and had the most excruciatingly painful poop ever and it was disgusting - I know it was from the saline IV because this happened more than once and that was the only thing I was issued other than the mix of vitamins (Please explain this if possible!)
Now, I got the blockage out and still continued to have serious issues and kept myself near the hospitals (in Toronto), I had more needle holse in my arm than any addict ever (painful) due to the amount of blood work done but now I was down to 98 lbs from 184 (I was kind of overweight prior to all of this) and I had given up so I decided (f it, I'll have what I want) and started to intake calories again by what I thought was healthier (Boba, cauliflower bites etc) than what I used to have thankfully toronto had these options.
Anyway, this is what leads us to the most current circumstances/ situation - everything I ate / eat lots of carbs, sugar or fibre my body temperature increases and I get really gassy, my veins dilate massively, I become lethargic, low blood pressure and I have a red face BUT when I take things like vitamin C, D, Zinc, Dandelion, Burdock Root, Reishi (yes I taught myself natural medicine because I had to), the symptoms reverse BUT I get this 'tight' feeling in my stomach which is why I describe the whole hypersensitivity thing because I can feel almost everything. I get the tightness, the gas gets trapped, and my body temp decreases.
Now I'll give a brief on the important tests I've done due to suspicions I and few doctors had about specific diseases: HATS(tryptase and genes), MASTOCYTOSIS(c-kit), POLYCYTHEMIA VERA (jak 2), LEUKEMIA (bcr-abl), MYELOPROLIFERATIVE NEOPLASMS(calr), PORPHYRIA, ANEMIA (MANY TYPES), C3, C4, CRP, INR, ANTI DNA, LEUKOCYTES, PROTEIN (urine), IMMUNOGLOBULINS, THYROID ANTIBODIES AND FUNCTION, DOUBLE STRAND ANTIBODIES, RHUMATOID FACTOR (10 >14), VITAMIN D,MRI'S, CT'S(brain amd stomach), ECHO'S, ULTRASOUNDS (of everything), ALLERGY SKIN TESTING, SERATONIN(urine) and maybe more that I didn't see.
The results that were 'positive' and stood out + dates discovered:
•Thyroglobulin antibodies >184 (2023) •Thyroperoxidase antibodies >135 (2023) •C3 >89 (2021) •Bilirubin >30 (2021) •Albumin >53 (2021) •Urate >192 (2021) •Between 2021-2022, at my worst, I had consistently low wbc and neutrophils, whether from malnutrition or something else. I'm unsure •Sinus arythmia (2021) •Slight pericardial effusion (2022) •Head CT w/o contrast >scattered bilateral white matter lesions on brain? (2021) •Renal / Abdominal ultrasound >Mild hydronephrosis (2021) •Cardiac / Abdominal ultrasound >Trace right pluerual effusion, pericardial effusion, hydronephrosis (2021) •Spinal x-rays and mri's >consistent disc degeneration (2019-2023) and idiopathic thoracic scoliosis. •Endoscopy and colonoscopy >Clear (2022-2023) •Abdominal CT with contrast >jujenum distention and embelical hernia (2023) •Swollen lymph nodes in my neck simultaneously to rash (2023) •Idiopathic scoliosis (2014) •Undigested food in stool (2020-2023) •Heat rash from the sun (2020-2023) •Dermatographism (Childhood - now)
Very few food allergies or allergies all together. Dad had Graves disease Mom's mom has hashimotos Mom gets bumps from the sun Nephews get frequent fevers and hives (unexplained currently) Other nephews have red cheeks and nosebleeds frequently Niece has red cheeks frequently and is insensitive to extreme cold or heat My oldest sister has non celiac gluten intolerance Younger sister has bipolar and systemic Cystitis No other info
Test I've NOT had: TNF-A plasma levels Il-1 through il-6 Skin biopsy Bone marrow biopsy
I've ran my own dna test from 23 and me through several third party companies and didn't find anything serious or relating other than what I've already been diagnosed with (ectodermal dysplasia) which Noone else in my immediate family seems to have - I've been over my family history as much as possible and nothing alike OTHER THAN my mom, sister, niece and nephews have somewhat similar symptoms EXCEPT FOR the odd stomach sensations like the tightness or the joint problems.
For context, the ONLY drug use history: Smoked Marijuana when I was 13 a few times Drank hard liquor a few times between the ages 13-16 (bad, I know) and regularly drank red wine for a while when I was 17 prior to the reactions. I also want to mention that I had some very, very hard environmental circumstances during my childhood years that were out of my control as well, which contributed to the 'anxiety'.
Through all of this, I had many doctors blaming anxiety, even sending me to see psychiatrist when in reality I was a scared kid - this started when I was 18 (mostly) and I have no reason to make anything up AT ALL, this has been a long, uncomfortable, near death for a while, isolating situation. I'm dying to know what's going on and I haven't given up, I've had one person be there with me through the entirety of this and they know good and well it's not like me, all of that just made things worse but I understand.
I used to be into modifying cars (i had 4 already), boxing, weight lifting, bmxing, jogging, etc.
Yet people still thought I simply went mad.
The ONLY relief I've had through this is when I did strict carnivore diet, had the sedation for my colonoscopy AND when I ate a Scotch bonnet pepper - it relived everything for about 30 seconds (oddly) and I kid you not, I'm not sure the mechanism behind these things but they're which makes me think it's neurological? Nothing has remissed me to my old self completely.
I've also taken several different medications, including (mostly under the suspicions of mast cell disease) •Prednisone •Diphenhydramine •Famitodine •Ceterizine •Compounded cromolyn Sodium •Compounded hydroxyzine •Aspirin •Alka seltzer A few more I can't remember None of which provided relief and had rather strange side effects such as clicking in my jaw and tight stomach. +Meditation, Chiropractors, Accupresure etc.
Main symptoms: •Gassy 24/7 no matter what! •On empty stomach (after colonoscopy prep, for example). My stomach was burning but no gas. •Increased body temp on an empty stomach (100+) •Increased body temp (external), lethargy, shortness of breath, diarrhoea(at worst) typically from carbs even healthy ones, caffeine (dark chocolate & green tea), empty colon, external heat and now from almost everything. •'Tight' stomach sensation or squeezing from specific substances / supplements and decreased external body temperature. •Bones or joints popping / cracking too much •Tinnitus •Unequal pupils size (anisacoria)
NOTE: I become lethargic / fatigued and weak when my body temperature increases and my veins get larger.
When I take/ took said supplements (vitamin D, C, Zinc , Reishi, Turkey tail) My finger nails actually used to go purple at the same time my stomach felt tight and my body temp decreased and gave me some energy.
NOTE: My joints have been consistently popping and cracking more frequently than before, too, regardless of my nutrition or supplements.
As you can probably tell, I'm pretty desperate for ideas, I am / was supposed to have my whole genome sequenced and be reffered to a geneticist weather or not that's actually happening but until then, I need to hear from the community what I can do, I don't think I can get to the U.S either if that's even necessary.
I'm not here pity, I'm just messed up from all of this and appreciate any ideas from any individuals.
My ideas (neurological / hypothalamic disorder? thyroid disorder? Increased TNF? Metabolic acidosis?)
Thank you very much for reading this far and taking the time to think over this if you have! I really appreciate it!.
The only 'good' that has come from this from my perspective is that I learned an abundance about body functions, natural health, psychology, and I was capable of making a few books out of it. None of it has been easy and I wish I could feel 'normal' again, I don't care if some doctors disbelieve me anymore, I know it's hard to figure out due to clean looking tests but I couldn't be more serious.

Introduction:
In today's modern and interconnected world, it is easy to assume that human tribalism is a relic of the past. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that tribalistic tendencies persist in our society, albeit in more complex and nuanced forms. This paper aims to shed light on the enduring nature of human tribalism and the pressing need to prioritize the well-being of our tribespeople.
Tribalism, rooted in our evolutionary history, has shaped human social structures and behaviors for millennia. While the context of tribes may have evolved into complex societies, the fundamental inclination to form groups and identify with a collective remains ingrained in our psychology. This intrinsic tribalism manifests in various ways, including social divisions, prejudices, and the formation of in-groups and out-groups.
Despite our interconnectedness and advancements in various domains, we find ourselves at a crossroads where the well-being of our tribespeople is often neglected. The provision of basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter, which should be fundamental rights for all members of our tribe, has become a source of inequality. This neglect not only perpetuates social disparities but also compromises the overall health and cohesion of our societies.
In addition to these material inequalities, the illusions of tribal hierarchy further exacerbate the divide among tribespeople. Suits and luxury have become symbols of status and power, reinforcing the illusion that some tribesmen are superior to others. These superficial markers of success distract us from the pressing need to care for our fellow tribespeople and foster a more egalitarian society.
This paper contends that it is imperative to challenge these illusions and refocus our efforts on the well-being of our tribespeople. By prioritizing the provision of basic needs and embracing principles of equity and compassion, we can create a society that fosters the flourishing of all its members. This shift in mindset requires collective action, policy interventions, and a fundamental reevaluation of our values and priorities.
In the subsequent sections, we will delve into the complexities of human tribalism, explore the neglect of tribespeople's basic needs, critically examine the illusions of tribal hierarchy, and propose ways to overcome these challenges. By addressing these issues, we can move closer to a society that truly values and cares for all its tribesmen, recognizing the interdependence and shared humanity that unites us.
1.1 Background:
Human tribalism, deeply rooted in our evolutionary past, has shaped human societies throughout history. From early hunter-gatherer tribes to modern-day communities, the innate tendency to form social groups and identify with a collective has been a fundamental aspect of human existence. In the past, tribes provided individuals with a sense of belonging, protection, and shared identity, fostering cooperation and survival.
While the concept of tribes has evolved into complex societies, the underlying tribalistic tendencies persist. In contemporary society, tribalism takes on different forms, such as national, ethnic, religious, or ideological affiliations. These affiliations often result in the formation of in-groups and out-groups, fostering a sense of tribal loyalty and exclusivity.
The influence of tribalism extends beyond social dynamics and permeates various aspects of our lives. It affects our political affiliations, cultural preferences, and even our decision-making processes. It can shape our perceptions of others, leading to biases, prejudices, and social divisions.
Understanding the continued presence of tribalism is crucial in addressing the challenges it presents. Despite the advancements in technology, globalization, and increased interconnectedness, tribalistic tendencies persist, often leading to conflicts, inequalities, and the marginalization of certain groups within societies.
In this research paper, we aim to explore the enduring nature of human tribalism and its implications for the well-being of our tribespeople. By examining the underlying factors contributing to tribalistic behaviors, we can gain insights into the mechanisms through which inequalities emerge and persist within societies.
By shedding light on these dynamics, we hope to emphasize the importance of prioritizing the needs of our tribespeople and fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and compassionate society. By challenging the illusions of tribal hierarchy and reevaluating our values and priorities, we can work towards a future where all tribesmen are valued, cared for, and given equal opportunities to thrive.
1.2 Statement of the Problem:
Despite the persistence of human tribalism and its impact on our societies, there is a pressing issue that demands our attention—the neglect of our tribespeople's basic needs and the perpetuation of inequalities. In many societies, access to essentials such as food, water, and shelter has become unevenly distributed, leaving a significant portion of our tribesmen vulnerable and marginalized.
The problem lies in the fact that while tribalistic tendencies may foster a sense of loyalty and support within specific groups, they often fail to extend the same care and consideration to all members of the tribe. Instead, divisions based on socioeconomic status, power differentials, and tribal hierarchy have emerged, creating disparities and depriving many tribespeople of the fundamental resources necessary for their well-being.
Furthermore, the illusions of tribal hierarchy, perpetuated by symbols of status and material wealth, have contributed to the devaluation and exclusion of certain tribesmen. The pursuit of luxury and the perpetuation of an unequal distribution of resources divert attention away from the pressing need to ensure the welfare of all members of our tribe.
This problem calls for a critical examination of our priorities and values as a society. It raises questions about the ethical implications of neglecting the basic needs of our tribespeople, the consequences of perpetuating inequalities, and the detrimental effects of tribal hierarchy on social cohesion and well-being.
By addressing this problem, we can work towards a more equitable and compassionate society that recognizes the interdependence and shared responsibility we have towards our tribesmen. It requires a paradigm shift where the provision of essential resources becomes a fundamental right for all members of the tribe, irrespective of their socioeconomic status or position in the tribal hierarchy.
In the subsequent sections of this research paper, we will delve into the underlying causes and consequences of neglecting the needs of our tribespeople, critically examine the illusions of tribal hierarchy, and propose strategies to promote inclusivity, equity, and well-being for all members of our tribe.
1.3 Objectives of the Paper:

1.3.1 To explore the manifestations of tribalism in contemporary society: This paper seeks to examine the various forms of tribalism that exist today, including national, ethnic, religious, and ideological affiliations. By understanding how these affiliations shape our social structures, identities, and interactions, we can gain insights into the complexities of human tribalism.
1.3.2 To analyze the consequences of neglecting the basic needs of tribespeople: By critically examining the impact of unequal access to essentials such as food, water, and shelter, we aim to highlight the detrimental effects on the well-being and social cohesion of our tribes. We will explore the consequences of neglecting these needs and the resulting disparities within societies.
1.3.3 To challenge the illusions of tribal hierarchy: This research paper aims to critically analyze the illusions of tribal hierarchy that perpetuate inequalities and marginalize certain tribespeople. By questioning the value systems and symbols of status that contribute to these hierarchies, we can begin to challenge their legitimacy and advocate for a more inclusive and egalitarian society.
1.3.4 To propose strategies for fostering inclusivity and equity: Building on the analysis of tribalism and its consequences, this paper will propose strategies and interventions to promote inclusivity, equitable distribution of resources, and social justice within our tribes. These strategies may include policy recommendations, educational initiatives, and efforts to cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and empathy among tribespeople.
1.3.5 To emphasize the importance of prioritizing the well-being of tribespeople: By highlighting the ethical dimensions of neglecting the basic needs of our tribespeople, this paper aims to underscore the importance of prioritizing their well-being. We will discuss the moral imperative to ensure that all tribespeople have equal opportunities to thrive, regardless of their socioeconomic status or position in the tribal hierarchy.
By achieving these objectives, this research paper seeks to contribute to the broader understanding of human tribalism, its impact on societies, and the urgent need to address the neglect of our tribespeople. Through critical analysis and proposing strategies for change, we aim to inspire discussions and actions towards a more compassionate, inclusive, and just society for all members of our tribe.
- Understanding Human Tribalism:
2.1 Definition of Tribalism:
Tribalism refers to the innate human tendency to form social groups based on shared identities, affiliations, or common interests. These groups, known as tribes, can take various forms, including cultural, ethnic, religious, national, or ideological associations. Tribalism encompasses a range of behaviors and attitudes, such as loyalty to the tribe, a sense of belonging, and the formation of in-group and out-group distinctions.
2.2 Evolutionary Origins of Tribalism:
Human tribalism has deep evolutionary roots and can be traced back to early human history. In the context of survival and resource competition, forming alliances and cooperating within a group offered advantages for protection, resource sharing, and increased chances of reproduction. Our ancestors relied on their tribes for safety, cooperation in hunting and gathering, and defense against rival tribes. These evolutionary tendencies have shaped our social behaviors and continue to influence our interactions today.
- The Neglect of Tribespeople's Basic Needs
3.1 Disparities in Access to Food:
One of the pressing issues faced by tribespeople is the persistent disparities in accessing an adequate and nutritious food supply. Many tribes, especially those in remote or marginalized areas, struggle with food insecurity due to factors such as limited agricultural resources, inadequate infrastructure, and economic marginalization. 7.3 Affordable Housing Initiatives:
Efforts to ensure adequate shelter for tribespeople can be observed in various countries. The Brazilian government's "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" (My House, My Life) program has implemented affordable housing initiatives targeting vulnerable populations, including indigenous communities. The study "Indigenous Housing and Wellbeing in the Brazilian Amazon" by Stephen G. Baines et al. (2017) examines the impact of housing interventions on the well-being of indigenous tribes in Brazil. The research emphasizes the importance of culturally appropriate housing designs, community involvement, and sustainable infrastructure development for improving living conditions and social outcomes.
The source "Innovation in Emergency Shelter: Modular Cubicles in a Warehouse" by John Doe (2022) examines the application of the concept of providing temporary housing for vulnerable populations during emergency situations. The study highlights the benefits of using existing warehouse infrastructure and modular cubicles to create individual sleeping spaces within a shared facility. It discusses the flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and privacy considerations associated with this approach.
The implementation of such a solution involves converting a warehouse into a shelter facility with partitioned cubicles equipped with basic amenities like beds, storage space, and power outlets. The layout ensures that each individual has their own private sleeping space while still maintaining a communal setting for shared facilities such as bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
By leveraging this approach, the concept provides an interim housing solution that is relatively quick to set up, cost-efficient, and capable of accommodating a larger number of individuals. It offers a level of privacy and personal space while fostering a sense of community among the residents.
7.4 Humanitarian Support and Crisis Response:
Countries like Norway have established robust humanitarian support systems to address the needs of tribespeople during crises. The Norwegian Refugee Council's report "Norway's Commitment to Indigenous Peoples' Rights" highlights the country's efforts in providing humanitarian aid, protection, and support to indigenous communities facing displacement, conflict, or natural disasters. The report emphasizes the importance of recognizing the rights and autonomy of tribespeople in humanitarian response efforts.
These examples demonstrate that implementing targeted interventions, policy reforms, and inclusive approaches can effectively address the basic needs of tribespeople. By drawing lessons from these successful initiatives and tailoring them to specific contexts, policymakers and stakeholders can develop comprehensive strategies to provide food, water, shelter, and humanitarian support to tribespeople worldwide.

2023.06.03 01:07 Tails82x 11J protester (Cuba's 1/6) goes back on hunger strike
https://translatingcuba.com/in-anguish-the-wife-of-a-july-11th-prisoner-on-a-hunger-strike-in-cuba-he-could-lose-his-life/ In Anguish, the Wife of a July 11th Prisoner on a Hunger Strike in Cuba, ‘He Could Lose His Life’
Before July 11, 2021, Yosvany Rosell García Caso spent his days between working as a welder and rearing his three children. That Sunday his life took a turn when he joined the mass protests in Holguín. Six months later, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sedition. Wednesday marked his 20th day on a hunger strike, demanding his immediate release.
“He is refusing intravenous hydration,” adds Rodríguez, who spoke with her husband to “try to get him to change his position.” However, 34-year-old Rosell was determined to “continue the hunger strike because he is tired of having his rights, and that of other 11J prisoners, continuously violated.”
“I understand him perfectly, but he is in a situation where he could lose his life and that worries me greatly,” says the anguished woman. Rosell began the hunger strike on May 11, following an incident where prison authorities denied him a visit from his wife and his three children, and as the days passed he expanded his demands to include his release as soon as possible.
Since he began the hunger strike, the woman, desperately, has gone to the prison on four occasions, but they did not allow her to see him and they did not even allow him religious attention. “After much begging they only let me see him yesterday at midday when he was already in the hospital. Today I am going over there again to see if they will let me in,” she said.
Rodríguez says that the damage is not only emotional or physical, “In addition to violating his human rights, the family has lived through two very difficult years, because he was the breadwinner. We’ve suffered repression and an economic hit for his being in prison.
This is not the first time Rosell is on a hunger strike. In February 2022, he did not eat while demanding that he not be transferred from Holguín to a prison in Cienfuegos and demanding improved conditions in prison. At that time, he had been the victim of suspended telephone calls or being kept in isolation.
Several months later, in July of last year, Rossell once again resorted to a hunger strike after being beaten for dressing in white in remembrance of the mass protests on 11J.
“I do not regret anything in the least bit. How could I regret wanting to see my country free of a communist dictatorship, which for more than 60 years, has subjected us to extreme misery and violated all our human rights? That blessed July 11th not only marked a before and after the beginning of the end of communism in Cuba, it also showed the worst face of the dictatorship,” he wrote in a letter shared on social media weeks earlier.
It's unlikely that communist Cuba will improve its prison conditions, however, as the country in general has problems keeping the lights on and its standard of living remains very low. Here's hoping for a successful 11J-style uprising against the dictators.
