Why Did Kitchen Nightmares End? The Show's Cancelation Explained
Gordon Ramsay's reality show Kitchen Nightmares was immensely popular when it debuted in 2007, so it came as a surprise when it wasn't renewed for season 8. The British celebrity chef received a lot of recognition for his intense approach to cooking and unmatched passion for his craft. Gordon's heated attitude in the kitchen brought an undeniable level of entertainment to the screen, as he used his expertise to help restaurants struggling to keep their doors open.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAYClosePauseUnmuteCurrent Time 0:03/Duration 1:30Loaded: 9.32%Fullscreen
While Gordon has a multitude of successful shows, Kitchen Nightmares featured restaurants that needed a makeover in terms of their menu, service, and staff. Instead of focusing on specific cooking techniques or ingredients, the award-winning chef used his knowledge to help eateries turn their businesses around. Attempting to save establishments from closing and living to see another day was Chef Ramsay's mission, but his goal was cut short when it all came to an end in 2014.
RELATED:5 Reasons Why Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare Is Iconic (5 Reasons Why It's Not)

Gordon Ramsay Axed Kitchen Nightmares

It may come as a surprise, but Gordon himself is the one who decided to put Kitchen Nightmares on the chopping block. Typically, television networks dictate whether a show will be renewed based on ratings and viewership, but in this case, it was entirely up to the chef, and he had his reasons. According to Delish, Gordon reached his boiling point after one of the restaurants on Kitchen Nightmares made him want to walk away from the show entirely, and he realized he was done.
Gordon didn't reveal which particular restaurant made him quit, but he did explain that he and the restaurant owner didn't see eye-to-eye, and he felt that the owner was taking advantage of customers at his ski resort. Dealing with someone in that capacity who wasn't listening to anything he had to say influenced his decision to cancel the show. They filmed for a week, and at the end of it, that was when the chef had his show-altering epiphany.

The Revival Of Kitchen Nightmares Has The Potential To Be Perfection

Kitchen Nightmares will be returning after almost a decade off the air, but the long hiatus may be the recipe for its future success. When the brutal chef decided to close the door on the popular show, he took a break for three years and came back with another hit show, 24 Hours to Hell and Back. If history is set to repeat itself, that means the revival of Kitchen Nightmares has the potential to be better than ever after taking nearly ten years to whip up a new take on an old classic. Of course, Gordon won't be without his signature attitude and brazen authority in the kitchen.
At the time, canceling Kitchen Nightmares felt like the right thing to do, and it couldn't be coming back at a better time. Unlike Gordon's other reality shows, it won't be focused on the element of competition, which will be a great change of pace. Seeing restaurants struggling in these economically difficult times will give Kitchen Nightmares a fresh perspective, as Gordon tries to get them back on track.

2023.05.28 04:16 New_Demand4081 After a career change

I'm 26, I have 8 years of experience as an industrial electrician doing maintenance in factories and such. I get paid well (~120k) and I'm good at what I do, but I work 50+ hours a week, travel way too much, work in filthy environments, put my body through a lot, and often get yelled at by operators/owners wondering why their plant is still not running. I also feel like I've hit my pay ceiling.
I'm jealous of my friends who seem to spend 8 hours at the office each day and then come home to their families. I guess you could say I after that elusive 40hrs a week office job.
I have the financial ability to quit my job and go to school for 3 years so I'm happy to retrain. So far I've considered project management, estimating and sales, which would lead on from my current career, Or do something completely different such as finance or accounting.
My career needs to be mentally stimulating, easier on my body and I'd like to be able to spend more time with family. I'm not too worried about money but I'd like to get back to where I currently am.
Any thoughts/potential careers appreciated.

2023.05.28 04:16 FeathersVEVO I am hoping for another major political event to take place

I want a big political event to take place in our world. I want something that is as whitehat and ethical as possible to save the world from itself. This can be an event like the pandemic. I want something to change to make this world even slightly better to live in. I don't want to live in fear anymore or deal with aggressiveness, and I want it all to be automated.

2023.05.28 04:15 dogmomxo How to limit anxiety in settings other than the home?

I have a 14 year old male maltipoo and when he’s at home he’s completely fine. My family has an RV they go camping in on weekends and he always gets insane anxiety when he’s out there even though he’s with us 24/7 outside, going on walks, etc. This is not a completely new environment, we’ve been coming on weekends for like 3 years now but it seems like he’s getting worse. Now he isn’t sleeping at all when we stay here. He’s up all night long crying and shaking to the point where last night he made himself throw up. His left vet check was completely normal, all blood work looked good and the vet had no concerns. We’ve tried a few brands of calming treats but he won’t eat them. Any ideas? What can we give him to help him relax out here?

2023.05.28 04:15 Shr00ms4l1f3 Orcas are only friendly towards humans because they understand the power hierarchy of the planet

Orcas live in pods across different regions of the globe. Each pod is a tribe with its family structure and hierarchies, language and hunting practices.
For example:
  1. Northeast Pacific Orcas are known as fish-eating orcas or resident orcas. They primarily feed on fish, especially salmon. Resident orcas use coordinated hunting techniques, forming tight-knit family groups called pods. They work together to corral fish into tight groups before launching coordinated attacks. These attacks involve tail slaps, bubble nets, and powerful jaw snaps to stun or disable their prey.
  2. Northwest Atlantic are known as the North Atlantic orcas or Bigg's orcas. They have a diverse diet that includes marine mammals such as seals, sea lions, and porpoises. Bigg's orcas are highly skilled hunters and often use strategic approaches to hunt their prey. They employ stealth, patience, and synchronized movements to capture marine mammals, constantly working as a coordinated team.
  3. In the Antarctic region, orcas have developed unique hunting strategies. They are known to prey on various marine mammals, including seals, sea lions, and even larger animals like minke whales. Antarctic orcas have been observed using a technique called "wave washing" where they create large waves to knock seals off ice floes, making them vulnerable to predation. They also employ tactics like beaching themselves temporarily to capture seals on land.
They are also one of the few species that hunt for a variety of reasons other than sustenance. They hunt to teach their young, i.e. passing their hunting practices to the next generation. They also hunt for fun or sport. In the case of hunting for sport, orcas have been known to torture and beat their prey for fun or sport before killing without consuming the corpse. They also hunt other marine life for delicacies; for example, orcas hunt whales for their liver and lips.
This behaviour of hunting for sport and delicacies is a trait very similar to humans.
It is also understood that orcas are brilliant animals capable of understanding their environment and leveraging it to their advantage. For example, orcas will use bait to lure prey and employ coordinated hunting strategies indicating planning and foresight.
Considering all this, it is mind-boggling that orcas refuse to attack humans, regardless of their locale. I conclude that these highly intelligent, albeit psychopathic animals understand that while they may be the dominant ocean predators, humans are the planet's dominant species - capable of dwindling their population should they be perceived as threats.
I surmised this conclusion from one or two videos where a seal jumped onto a boat whilst pursued by orcas, and the orcas backed off after the seal jumped on their boat to escape the orcas. This leads me to believe that even the seals understand the relationship between orcas and humans and, whenever possible, leverage it for their survival.

2023.05.28 04:11 Redeyes222222 Trying to see if I have PPPD, and looking for some opinions. Anyone with PPPD please lend me an ear!

Will try to be as brief as possible.
25M. A year ago, I had a few SVT attacks for the first time (I have always had Arrhythmia and had a heart ablation 6 years ago). This scared me more than anything, and panic attacks and anxiety were the worst they have ever been for months.
Since then, my worst symptom was Dizziness. Because of these arrhythmias, I thought it MUST be heart-related (What are the odds I have SVT attacks and dizziness at the same time). However, After seeing 3 cardiologists (And an electrophysiologist), they have all told me that my heart is perfectly healthy and that the SVT and arrhythmia are not at all life-threatening (But they are certainly there).
If that is true, where the hell was this dizziness occurring? I started looking everywhere, and that's when I found PPPD.
Reasons I think I might have it (After 3 days of looking into it).

  1. My symptoms of dizziness are almost always worse when I am out in a complicated environment. (When I am home or go to play sports/basketball it's usually somewhat manageable. But in a supermarket, I can barely walk 5 feet without feeling like I am tipping over).
  2. Looking down at my phone while in a supermarket makes it WAY worse (At first I thought it may be blood pressure related, with a head tilt. But that seems like such a small change in posture to cause such a physical change, ya know?)
  3. I heard PPPD can be triggered by an emotionally traumatic event (Which would have been the SVT attacks I have been having).
  4. It would be an explanation why my MRI results and cardiologists/doctors have not found any reason to think I should be dizzy.
  5. I have incredible amounts of anxiety, and I heard it can be related.
Other symptoms I am less sure about, and want to see if other people with PPPD experience:

  1. When I go to sleep, I constantly feel a dizzy falling sensation.
  2. Sometimes it feels like I am literally going to pass out and faint.
  3. Brain zaps when I try to sleep (Not sure if it's related, but imagine it could be an anxiety symptom).
Who is the best to diagnose this? Neurologists? Otolaryngologists?
I must admit, if it truly is PPPD, I would be very conflicted towardshow I feel. On one hand, I would be happy that I finally found the cause. On the other hand, I would feel so silly knowing that I have talked and wasted time bothering so many people/doctors, all for a symptom that is in my own mind. Hell, I imagine some doctors don't even believe this is a real diagnosis (Or don't know about it). The scariest part of this dizziness isn't the dizziness itself, it's WHY it's happening. It genuinely feels like I am dying or something. That being said, If pppd is truly what is causing it, it is INCREDIBLE how bad the symptoms can be. It truly feels like I am walking on a boat in the water sometimes...

2023.05.28 04:10 cosy-a [30F ᐧ AEST GMT+10] Looking for a Study Buddy for weekly virtual study sessions.

👩🏻 About Me:
Hey there! I'm 30 and juggling work while studying part-time for my post-grad (UX Design). I find myself lacking motivation to keep up with my studies while balancing work. That's why I'm looking for a study buddy or a tiny study group to virtually meet up with and have longer study sessions together (On Fridays). Besides studying, I would love to support and encourage you with your own goals and habits.
My current routine includes exercising (3-4 times a week), daily journaling, and reading for pleasure in my downtime. I'm also interested in incorporating a short daily meditation or mindfulness practice. I'm all about taking small steps to build positive change (atomic habit philosphy)

📚 Study Accountability:
The main reason for this ad is to find someone (or a couple of people) who would like to join me for virtual study sessions on Fridays. Studying alone can lead to procrastination and sometimes it gets lonely. But when you have someone keeping you company, it's easier to stay focused and much more fun as it feels like you're in this together. So, if you're the type who works better with a study buddy, then keep reading and reach out if you feel we would be a right fit :)

🍃 Life Accountability:
Are you someone who's determined to adopt healthier habits or working on personal goals/hobbies? I would love to support you with text message check-ins.

💭 The Accountability Plan:
  1. Virtual Study Sessions on Friday: We can meet up in a private virtual study room using the StudyVerse desktop app. We'll take a few minutes at the beginning to discuss the tasks we'll be working on during the study session. Then, we'll dive right into studying. These study sessions can go on for 2-5 hours.
  2. (Optional) Frequent/Weekly Check-ins: If you have specific habits you want to keep track of during the week, we can do frequent text message check-ins.

⭐️ About You:
Ideally, you're in a similar timezone (AEST / GMT+10). Around the same age range (late 20s-30s but not super important as long as what I've described here resonates with you). You should be comfortable with being on camera during our virtual study sessions and would like frequent/weekly text message check-ins. You appreciate having a support system/friend (me 🙂) to keep you accountable for your goals and habits. You find comfort in routines and schedules. I believe these accountability buddy systems thrive when we're open to engaging with each other, sharing bits of our lives, and building a connection that creates a supportive environment with open communication.

🫘 Are you a keen bean?
If you're interested you can DM me here and tell me a bit about yourself. If you'd like, we can hop on a call to talk about your goals/habits and go through the details of an accountability system that works for both of us ☺️

2023.05.28 04:08 DimensionKey6439 i love tarkov!

I recently had the chance to compare two intense first-person shooter games: Hunt Showdown and Tarkov. While both games promise thrilling experiences, it's with a heavy heart that I admit Hunt Showdown falls short in comparison to the superior gameplay of Tarkov. Allow me to explain.
First and foremost, Tarkov's mechanics outshine those of Hunt Showdown. The level of realism and attention to detail in Tarkov's weapon customization, ballistics, and medical systems create an unparalleled sense of immersion. In contrast, Hunt Showdown's mechanics felt clunky and unpolished, leaving me frustrated rather than fully engaged in the gameplay.
Additionally, Tarkov offers a vast and meticulously designed map that is filled with intricate environments and dynamic weather effects. The attention to detail contributes to an immersive and atmospheric experience that Hunt Showdown struggles to replicate. Instead, Hunt Showdown's limited number of maps left me feeling confined and longing for more variety.
The depth of gameplay in Tarkov is another factor that sets it apart. The game's intricate economy and item management mechanics provide a constant sense of progression and reward. On the other hand, Hunt Showdown lacked the same depth, often leaving me feeling like I was stuck in a repetitive loop with little incentive to continue.
Tarkov's hardcore nature, where players risk losing all their loot upon death, adds an exhilarating level of tension and excitement. It forces players to be cautious and strategic, heightening the overall intensity. In contrast, Hunt Showdown's lack of consequences for failure diminished the sense of risk and reward, leading to a less gripping experience.
Lastly, Tarkov's thriving player-driven economy and deep community engagement create a rich and vibrant multiplayer experience. The game evolves constantly, driven by its passionate player base. In contrast, Hunt Showdown's slow response to bug fixes and updates left me feeling disconnected and unheard.
In conclusion, my experience with Hunt Showdown was unfortunately lackluster compared to the superiority of Tarkov. Tarkov's realistic mechanics, immersive environments, depth of gameplay, high-stakes nature, and active community engagement all contribute to a gaming experience that is challenging, captivating, and constantly evolving. If you're seeking an exceptional and immersive shooter experience, Tarkov unquestionably outshines Hunt Showdown.
Have any of you had similar experiences with these games? I'd love to hear your thoughts and perspectives. Let's discuss!
TL;DR: Hunt Showdown pales in comparison to the superior mechanics, immersive environments, depth of gameplay, high-stakes nature, and active community engagement offered by Tarkov. Tarkov's immersive and realistic experience sets it apart as the go-to choice for players seeking an exceptional shooter experience.

2023.05.28 04:08 FlaredMetal Just trying to understand

Hi all. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos last year, so my doctor decided to order a full autoimmune panel which ended up coming back as positive for ANA. I was referred to a rheumatologist, who I have seen twice since, and we have done heart and lung tests (which were fine) to establish a baseline. I don’t have any physical symptoms so she could not diagnose me, but indicated my labs presented as scleroderma. She recommended to monitor over time. I have an appointment next week for my third check up. I’m honestly a bit confused with the different types and which one is indicated on my labs (anxiety spirals via Google are terrifying me). Does anyone have any insights/ similar results/ questions or additional blood panel I should ask for? Appreciate you all!
Results:
ANA Titer 1:40 titer (High)
ANA Pattern Nuclear, Centromere (Abnormal)
ANA POSITIVE (Abnormal)
Compliment CH50
60 Units/mL (High)

2023.05.28 04:06 CherimoyaEZ My kitten is suddenly afraid of me

I just adopted an 8 week old Russian blue kitten, 2 days ago. The past days he has been very playful and affectionate (his previous owners handled him a lot). Today, he is suddenly terrified of me whenever I stand up. He lives in my room and I have been with him the whole time. Whenever I stand he will run and hide under my bed or behind his scratching pole, but whenever I sit or lay on my bed he will jump up and lay/sleep on me. He has no problems using the litter and he is fed 4 times a day. If I leave the room he is too afraid to leave the room and will meow until I come back. Is there any reason for this sudden change in behaviour or is it just him getting used to his new environment?

2023.05.28 04:06 breakfastsandwhich2 24 [M4F] Houston - Can we just meet and fall hard for each other? I promise to catch you!

Hello, this is for you: 🌹
I'm 24 and I live in Houston, TX. I'm a recent college graduate and I'm planning on pursuing a higher degree this fall. Some things about me: I love music, I play a few instruments with my main one being guitar. I enjoy a nice walk/hike and camping, although I haven't been camping in years. I also love to cook, read and play video games. I like going out and doing things like concerts and restaurants, but a nice night in with good food and a good movie is also fun as well! I love coffee and I love trying different coffee shops! I have also recently started learning to code with Python, just so I keep learning something new even though I'm out of school. Currently, I don't have a car, but I absolutely hate this and I'm striving to change that as soon as possible. Despite that, I still get myself where I need to go. I'm right leaning politically and I was raised Catholic but I'm not strongly religious.
Honestly, being single sucks. I want someone to share the excitement of each other's victories with. I want someone that I can lean on and who can lean on me when things are hard. I want someone to fall asleep on calls with, I want to smile like an idiot when I know you texted me. I want someone to share all life's intricacies with. I want my partner, best friend and lover all in one person!
What I'm looking for in a partner: Someone between the ages of 18-30 I'd prefer someone right leaning and either christian, agnostic or jewish. I HEAVILY prefer someone in Houston, the next best thing would be in Texas, if you're not in Houston, you should be willing to relocate if need be. I don't want a long-term LDR, one year at the most, with visits. Someone who's emotionally mature, who values trust and communication. Someone who shows interest and effort (showing a lack of interest/effort is a big turn off for me) Someone who's monogamous, none of this ethical nonmonogamy nonsense I've been seeing lately.
If you made it this far, send me your favorite food if you decide to reach out so I know you read! I look forward to meeting you!

2023.05.28 04:06 Sarsfeee AITA for asking someone to stop tapping their foot in a dress rehearsal?

This occurred December 2022.
I am freshly graduated from uni with a master in music and one of our class requirements was to take two credits in chamber (small ensemble) courses. I play flute so I (26f), L (23f), S(22f) and K(18f) decided that it would be fun to take the year and form a flute quartet to fulfill our chamber requirements.
I met L and we became fast friends when we entered uni as first year masters students. S and K were also good friends, but I didn't get to know them really well until this last year with the quartet.
So we formed this quartet. It started out well, but I kept feeling like my opinion and critique weren't being taken seriously. I felt like I was being left out, the other three at times literally forming circles to keep my out of conversations, and other stuff. There was also other stuff with L that had been happening in our personal friendship that was coming to a head, but that's a whole lot of other crap.
But in December we were having a dress rehearsal for the quartet piece that we were performing a few days later. We were rehearsing and I asked L of she could not tap her foot so we could rehearse without it. She responded that she always did that to which I said, that's fine, but we should try it a few times so that we can do it with out the tapping in the performance.
There's more back and forth, voices get raised, but neither one of us were yelling, and we drop it to go back and finish rehearsal.
We leave and I go to where I park and the other three leave together. I send a text to L saying that we need to talk and get ghosted for the rest of the day. I message her the next morning asking if we could talk. She responds later saying that she needs time to cool down, but says that we're good. So I let it be even though my anxiety is through the roof at this point.
Days pass and the performance happens. L says some things that are sparky and I leave the room and express my frustration to S and K in tears as I'm trying to figure things out. Where I might be TAH is that I followed them to a rehearsal that I wasnt needed in. Like full on into the room, I shouldn't have done that but I was so confused about the situation.
Another few days pass and the whole quartet sets up a meeting and L and I agree to talk after this discussion. We give each one of us 2 minutes to talk and I go first.
I express how I felt that I was being left out, how I felt that L was taking over rehearsals, and that i felt the opinions and voices of the others in the group were not being heard.
L said that she felt that I wasnt preparing my part for the quartet well enough, that she had to dumb herself down for me to acknowledge her comments, feels that I'm just blaming her, and that I have made the environment unsafe for her. She also iterates that I did this right before our schools ensemble auditions. This flabergasted me because why would i want to start a fight generally? Let alone before these auditions? I think she only brought it up because she got a result that she didn't like, yet the others of the quartet did so well (I was genuinely happy for them because one hadn't been in the top ensembles before!) and wanted to blame me... idk it just messed with my head so much...
S pretty much says that she's disappointed about not learning more rep and also felt unsafe.
K expressed that she had no idea that there was any of this going on. She thought that things were going okay.
There's banter back and forth, most of which I don't remember. I do apologize for the communication issues from my end but I'm literally in tears as all of this is happening. I know the internet is just a bunch of strangers, and questions of character are always up in their air without full context, but I have always made it a point to make every environment im in a safe and caring one.
When we end the meeting I ask L if we can still have our personal conversation and she say that she won't because I was being too emotional. She then goes on to say that she doesn't feel that the quartet will survive into next semester. We all agree to give some space with the winter break and have a zoom meeting half way to discuss things further.
I go home and am balling as I call up a friend from my undergrad and explain all of this. He expressed that I was being gasslit and manipulated. Another friend not in the school also said the same thing. Friends from my uni at the time said that it was an overreaction and should've just been talked about.
All of them said that the hangup was on the unsafe comment that was said and that it was out of my character. I want to agree with them, but idk at this point. More has happened, but this is the general gist of what happened.
So, AITA for asking someone to stop tapping their foot in a dress rehearsal? I appreciate your comments, roasts, and advice.

2023.05.28 04:01 Neither_Bed_1135 What lore/characters do you want to be enhanced during The Ravening War?

After re-watching some old clips from ACOC, I would LOVE to see an homage to what the previously-established characters were doing during the war. I know this isn't their story, but seeing as Matt has already taken a small event mentioned in the history of Candia and made an entire fight out of it,I'm really excited to see where they go next with the story!
