2023.06.03 03:29 FireW00Fwolf I translated all 47 rules of the internet.

The rules of the internet are... strange, so i set out to decipher them with my broski: ChatGPT. A few things: Some rules are placed strangely in the undeciphered rules, hence why 32 is in the *blush* section. Sections without titles are sections with random junk.

  1. We dont talk about Board /b/ or random board on 4chan.
  2. I want to emphisize that we dont talk about said /b/ board.

-Anonymous Rules-

  1. Nobody Knows who you are until removing your anonymity.
  2. Anonymity is like a legion, as you can do anything with anyone.
  3. If you are Anonymous, you dont have to forgive anyone.
  4. If you are Anonymous, you can be a terrible person.
  5. But: Anonymous people can be kind.

-Posting Rules-

  1. There are no actual rules about posting, as the site devs didnt create them.
  2. There arent any real rules about moderation, as the site devs arent the mods.
  3. If you use a site made to rival another site, nobody will like you.
  4. If you carefully pick your fights, you wont be acknowledged.
  5. Anything you say will eventually come back to you as it can be traced back to you.
  6. Anything you say, make, do, etc, can be taken in the wrong way.
  7. Trolls will win any fights they start as peopele think theyre "funny" enough to help.
  8. If you try very hard, then fail, you will fail very hard.
  9. But, if you fail in a funny way, then you will be known.
  10. If you win, that win will soon wear off, the hype, the effect, everything.
  11. Any topics/Lables can be hated.
(32 counts in this section, but in the og list was with the *Blush* rules)

-Content Rules-

  1. If you hate it, you are practically helping it, as you are telling people about it and spite watching it.
  2. Nobody is likely or made to be taken seriously.
  3. The original content is only original until the first repost or meme.
  4. Copypastas are made to destroy original content and take advantage of r21.
  5. R23 is a direct 1-1 copy of 22, its meant to tell give an example for r22.
  6. Reposts are Reposts of Past Reposts, as a repherence of rules 20, 21, and 22.
  7. All relation to a topic eventually is removed and becomes off topic, because of rules 8 and 9.

-Who? Rules-

  1. You have the privilege to question what gender a person likes.
  2. You also can ask a persons actual gender.
  3. Anybody can be anything they want, due to the Anonymous sections of the rules
  4. Nobody cares what gender you are.

-Porn Art Rules-

  1. If you get mad at nsfw art, nobody will care about your issue with the art.
  2. Provide Pictures for your point
  3. If you cant find the... art, then keep looking, its somewhere as people have your same sick, strange, likes.
  4. That... art, exists somewhere, repherencing rule 33. (this is the most popular rule of the internet)
  5. If... it doesnt exist at the moment, because the exact reason of the end of the translated r33
(r46 relates to here, but it was in a random section)

  1. There will be something even more discusting than what you've seen, someone will make it if not yet.
  2. You cannot device by 0, it either will break or just not let you.
  3. The internet has no sky, so therefor: there isnt any limit to what you can do.
  4. caps lock is taking the easy way out of trying to be cool.
  5. a continuation of r39: if you want to get cool off of caps lock, you still have to work for it: type cool.
  6. Desu is a very overused meme, so much so that an entire 41st rule had to be made.

-Corruption Rules-

  1. Nothing is immune to rules 33, 34, and 35.
  2. The more people like it, the more people will see the... art of it, so the more it will grow.
  3. Posting about a japanese thing can be enough so you can be called a weeaboo.

  1. If there is a dangerous thing on the road, get inside your car. It repherences a meme like "Invincible moose in 1 mile.".
  2. There will be a furry version of its nsfw art, repherencing r34
  3. The "Pool's Closed" copypasta is overused, referencing the pools closed copypasta surrounding the 2006 game Habbo Hotel

Quick closing notes: the rules were writen on the /b/ board, going against r1 and 2, any rules past r47 dont exist, so the reddit rule63 is invalid, the writing of the rules ended many years ago, the exact reason is unsure. One last thing: the most seeable (?) one on dictionary, com is the original rules from 2006 when rules 1-33 didn't exist, heres the most recent one, which is still old: Pic

2023.06.03 03:28 d3t3ctiv3fi3rc3 my boyfriend is going on a boys trip

my boyfriend is going on a trip in august for 5 days with his friends to visit his other friends that live in tampa. for some background, about 2 years ago, we were a “thing” for about 6 months until he went to florida, ghosted me, met someone else and started dating her within a month of meeting her and starting a long distance relationship. we didn’t speak for 4 months and then we started talking again. i knew something was up while he was on his trip but he never told me the truth that he met someone else. i didn’t find out until we started talking again 4 months after and i found out on my own, confronted him and he lied about it until i had hardcore evidence he had a real relationship with her. it hurt my ego, i felt like i didn’t even know him. i questioned why her and not me for such a long time. it took months of healing with him to look past that situation. we’ve been dating for over a year now and i have no reason to not trust him or question him but it’s my own insecurity that is preventing me to be okay with this. we’ve been together for over a year but his friends from florida are friends with her and her friends. i’m obsessive and i’m jealous and i don’t know how to get over it. i don’t want him to go but i’ll be the crazy girlfriend if i say no but i don’t want to say yes if i’m genuinely not comfortable. how do i look past it and let him go without feeling invalidated?

2023.06.03 03:27 azulur Dream betrayed me.

Prefacing this with it's just a damn, blind rant into the void.
It's been almost two months. I found indisputable event he was in a new relationship a few weeks ago and pushed myself to move on. Deleted all messages and messenger apps, threw out our trinkets, tried to focus on me. It's been hard but sometimes I don't always remember why I am cripplingly sad.
Last night I had a dream - just a dream though. It meant nothing, but so much. I saw him clear as day, every detail of his face and hair and eyes. Clear as if he stood by me. We were close like a couple, I could feel his warmth. But I saw it - a white hair tie wrapped around his ring finger on his left hand. I always used black hair ties. I could feel the tears well up in my eyes. I asked him "Did you find someone new? So soon?" I wasn't angry, just abysmally sad. He couldn't answer. He never would, not in real life or a dream. Whether he felt bad or didn't want to hurt me (he was never cruel to me in any way, thankfully), but he would never answer. I tried to push, did you find her before you left me? Did you find her online? Did you find her in "our" game? Still, no answers. Still smiling, though. Still warm against my body. He would never admit to cheating, as he was always against it. But dating almost two weeks after saying he still loved me? Inconceivable.
He would never answer, and he never will I know - both in real life and in my dreams. So the dream faded back into nothing, mimicking the storm outsider my window even. Me left alone and cold yet again, as always. The day he left me, in the middle of the worst mental and emotional times in my life, he left me with little more than an "I'm done" and no chance to even change or come out of my tailspin. As was his right, but damn.. three years and I didn't get even the lick of a grace period? My dad almost died, I hadn't slept for three weeks, barely ate, jetlagged from international travel.. none of it mattered. He didn't even try to understand.
And I'm left picking up every piece of the last three years.
He moved on now and I''m trying. I promised myself I would never take him back if he dated someone new, and I'm sticking to it. He was my one and only, but I wasn't his. It's left me broken in ways I never dreamed.
But thanks to my own dreams I'm reminded yet again of all I've lost and how betrayed I've been.

2023.06.03 03:25 mysweetorangetree My parents put me in a coma (not literally)

I'm really just here to rant, feel free to skip lol.
I (21F) just had the most mildly infuriating conversation with my parents. Actually, it wasn't even a conversation, it was just them talking at me about how much my generation (but of course, mostly I) am addicted to my phone. My mother kept going on and on about how I am glued to my phone every day and that for young adults who grew up in this age of technology our (again, mostly just my) brains have developed differently than hers and my dad, who are 57 and 59, respectively. Of course she said it's not a good or bad difference, just "different"... be so fucking for real we all know you think it is bad.
Like okay mother I am soooo sorry that I use my phone everyday like every other person on this goddamn planet. I am so sorry that I went to undergrad in a different state and am now back home so my phone is the only way I am able to communicate with my now long distance friends. I am so sorry I am an only child with virtually no friends here so what else am I supposed to do during the day? Play outside? I'm on my phone the days I do not have work. Sue me.
She even went as far as to compare me to a family member who went to jail a few years back because he sought out an underage boy on the internet and it ended up being one of those traps that police set up to catch predators. I guess we both have addictions to the internet because we grew up in an age of the internet and social media, even though he is like 35 but whatever. Even though I just finished getting my Bachelor's degree in early May and am going to graduate school for an MS in the Fall and he just got out of jail, we are apparently not that different from each other. I was honestly pretty offended at that.
My mother questions why I rarely talk to them in the evenings when they get home from work. Maybe it's because when I do, it always turns into something like this.
tl;dr: My parents are boomers.
Now that I reread this, it doesn't seem that serious but I still typed it all out so I'm not deleting it.

2023.06.03 03:25 Kindly_Maize8141 Should I got to my sister wedding or just stay home I don’t have a great relationship with the groom or his dad sister says I am being an unreasonable ass

her fiancé don’t get along a lot of it comes from him being a selfish only child. I got him some fine Cuban cigars in Florida and he did not say thank you when I dropped them off with my sister he could not put down call or duty and that rubbed me the wrong way. The cigars where for his bachelor party. His father is a real cuck and I don’t get along with him either he’s a bumbling idiot who always says stupid shit at any large gathering and I have had some words with him as well. I get along with his mom because she likes the same nfl Team (Seahawks). His parents divorced and his mom is always ripping on the cuck dad about what a loser he etc I jump on that because I hate his dad and fights have broken out.
I told the dad your wife left you for a real man an outdoors type hunter like me not some cuck who is weak and sensitive like he is (guy crys a lot) also called him out when he did not like the elk meat I offered him.
We tried to bury the hatchet for the wedding on the condition that he buys me a Watch of the value of 200 dollars price I paid for the cigars for him. He told me to fuck off and I ain’t buying you anything.
My sister also wanted me to wear a suit to the wedding said I would on the condition she pay for it she said no I ain’t doing that so I had to rent one but I can still cancel if need be.

That post was another story
Basically, this is what it comes down to. I’m a busy man I work over 40 hours a week how do you spend $250 out of my own money that I could’ve spent on ammo for my gun collection to attend this wedding.
I told my sister, you and your fiancé better start showing some fucking gratitude because I got him some cigars for his party and his dad better not say dumb shit around me they brought the cuck father to Christmas past 2 years and me the dad got into arguments there.
In conclusion, I told her it’s a privilege not a right that I’m even attending your wedding because I have to take two days off work find a pet sitter get a hotel room, gas, money, etc. start showing respect. And all can be made whole with your fiancé buying me a w

2023.06.03 03:24 stardawgflaps How do I save my uni experience?

I'm just finishing second year off now, to go on to my year in industry. I'd have one year to go after that which I'm hoping will be better than it has been already.
First year was ok for me. I had friends but they didn't really like me, more so used me to make fun of and then project all their personal problems onto. My only real attachment was this one girl in my flat who would go through cycles of being in a mood about something and then silent treatment me, until we'd go to a party and then complain to other people about what I "did" (which was always exaggerated and unintentional on my part). I was also friends with a boy in my flat who agreed that stuff she was doing was dramatic (she'd do it to him too) but ultimately he was in love with her for whatever reason.
Second year I thought was going to be fine but I was dumb enough to be in a house with the same people. Cue a whole episode of this girl doing the silent treatment thing again but to a much worse scale (including inviting tonnes of people over every week for parties without even telling me, including my ex which I already said I don't want in the house). No one stands up to her and things continue so I basically become too anxious to live in my house and have to live in my bfs house, which has been awful for me in terms of ups and downs in our relationship.
I probably went to 8 lectures in the entire year. I tried going to them (my bf said it would help me make friends) but I would just sit on my own and I find it hard to concentrate in them. I would also feel very anxious when I would run in to people from the old friend group. I've tried societies but the ones in the things that I'm interested in feel oddly exclusionary? I went to one society to watch eurovision and I couldn't even sit with them because their table was full so I had to sit on my own and speak to no one. I joined a volunteering scheme for my course and when I thought things were going well for me, I found out a bunch of them created a seperate group chat with 95% of them which they were planning social events on. While I am an anxious person I don't think I'm "socially anxious". I'm fine speaking to people and making conversation, it just feels like nothing is going well for me and when I find an opportunity to make friends it just falls through.
I've basically been doing my entire degree remotely, either from my bfs house or at my parents' house hours away from university (when I feel like I can't stay around my bf). I feel totally disconnected from everyone and feel like if this is the best times of my life, I've completely blew it. I just wanna make friends and feel like I am actually at university. I'm hoping a lot of the people I've fell out with have graduated by the time I'm back, but I'd like some advice on how to do better.

2023.06.03 03:20 Espsiongold2VA HELP WANTED 2 the game that might have the best reason to exist

HELP WANTED 2 the game that might have the best reason to exist
Put the security breach Logo over Freddy in your mind, it's part of the theory
So obviously there's a few people scratching their head at the help wanted 2 idea, why is it possible, when, who are we, what time.
So I've a few thoughts based on some past lore
Theory.
Hand unit said in the original FNAF help wanted "the game almost never made it to market" which means it did. And he says "it's good to see you sticking to the script and not wandering which is exactly what our risk assessment team is looking for" if you don't interact with anything that summons glitchtrap.
These are interesting because it implies that you are both playing to beta test going by the risk assessment team comment but also that the game is already for sale on the market and with enough time to get DLC.
So considering curse of dreadbear was made setting up a mask for vanny and the it's me Easter egg meaning more game was made which is both done by Vanessa and the princess in princess quest 3 making curse of dreadbear cannon to the timeline since you go through help wanted and curse of dreadbear in princess quest 3.
Depending on how you take hand units dialogue from help wanted..
It is possible you play as the only person who never actually went looking for clues and never encountered glitchtrap like the FNAF world mocking you "you beat the game but didn't do anything" or FNAF 6 mock "you did little effort and took no risk and here is a certificate of mediocrity"
Like we play as the only person who followed every rule and that's why there's no other applicants. Because I mean it's hinting we are a beta tester by the no other applicants, or the only person who followed the rules.
However he said welcome back for another week and that implies Mike. Ballora has purple eyes, it's the ones Mike shows at the end of sister location scooping ending. So her having blue eyes which is mikes own eye color makes sense.
It's not implying that you are a child either.
So
we could be Mike for 2 reasons 1. Help wanted hand unit says "your descending to Cbear sorry for the crampt space but the other services elevator is well above your pay grade" this line always confused me but yea it implies that there is another service elevator leading to sister location. Mike would be able to access
And hand unit said "Fazbear entertainment are not responsible for real world manifestations of digital characters" meaning Mike can return "we designed this like a plug n play bringing back personalities from the past in an instant"
Or....FNAF AR trailer Mike "I've been living in the shadows" perhaps his consciousness was accidentally transferred into another person since you signed the contract.
Hand unit mocking is absolutely the way he mocks Micheal so perhaps Mike manifested in the FNAF AR trailer, as you hear him "I've been living in shadows" Or
because remember the CDs in security breach we find 16 and they are retro CDs same as vintage, retro old CDs 16 collected in mikes very room, wouldn't it be funny if collecting the 16 retro CDs manifested Mike into either existence or back kinda like how I your the band he's just like "sup.....Mike security guard, come experience this not cannon situation to save your son"
And Mike Schmidt movie game ect.
And the reason why I think this is happening is because of FNAF AR. We were though on security breach for it's bugs and cut content but going by FNAF AR the dark circus and the lore split between the games, it's entirely possible sections had to be cut because ilumix handled their side badly.
Email leaks, characters absent from the game. I mean we got a picture of Lefty and Funtime Freddy cost more than security breach, but that's not the issue, if the dark circus was to connect to sections of the pizzaplex then steel wool were left with half the characters absent from the other game that were essential for plot points.
Hopefully steel wool have been given control over the AR lore and the result will be in help wanted 2. This isn't a rant against ilumix, more an apology to steel wool for not realizing that they had half the game.
I get the impression from how much takes from the pizzaplex stories have changed places and names the AR cade is literally an Augmented Reality cade and the VR booths. Maybe there was a reason Monty golf only had half the game.
But the lore from the books, the devs on gamejolt talking about the game, Scott putting the AR animatronics in FNAF fury's rage, you see one side
Then you look at the pizzaplex guide and it's like incoherent to a fault. It's like help wanted mobile port glitch level.
So if steel wool have been working on RUIN and help wanted 2 it's absolutely for one reason only, they were left with so much work to do.
3 cannon disappointments Ilumix brought remnant into existence stealth technology allowing animatronics to be invisible haywiring and brought Shadow Bonnie as the real shadow Bonnie.
Pizzaplex runs on batteries, trying to explain vanny is invisible because sound illusions that only make your view destort and no shadow Bonnie
Combined it would explain itself
Anyway that's my theory and if you want to talk about triangles inside triangles try my suggestion above
Anyway how do you think it will work?

2023.06.03 03:20 curvydumpling 35 [F4R] West Coast/online - ISO warm fuzzy feelings

Your girl is single, 35, Caucasian, and about to blow up her stable life by quitting her crappy job and taking to the road. The final destination is unknown, but the goal is personal fulfillment and a place she can put down roots.
Third person gets old fast, so pronoun shift: Hullo! I'm home with the flu, too sick to do anything fun but not sick enough to sleep all day, and thought it might be fun to see who else out there is feeling friendly. Most of my good friends are preoccupied with spouses and babies these days, so it's time to cultivate new friendships.
As I mentioned, I'm about to give notice at my job, pack up the apartment, and hop in the car to try to find a path forward that fills me with joy instead of blah. Doing the "smart" thing over and over and over hasn't made me successful or happy, so I figured I'd try something different.
Salient details? I'm introverted but thrive on deep connections with people. Am very empathetic. My friends are small in number but high in quality; we go back years and decades. I've been involved with penpal communities in some form or other for over 10 years; some of those connections have turned into thriving in-person friendships. I'd give the shirt off my back and fight a bear for almost anyone who needed it. It's true I have definite opinions about injustice and fairness, but I've also lived in enough places across the world that I can listen to and learn from those I disagree with.
My fatal flaw? I can't have an intelligent conversation about video games. Truly, I've never even met Mario. The closest I've managed is Stardew Valley.
My hobbies include pottery, reading widely (from historical nonfiction to Brit Lit to sci-fi-fantasy to trashy romance), indoor plants and outdoor gardening, letter writing, and all manner of crafty endeavors I've done once and always thought I'd get back to. I've hiked and camped a little, and traveled a lot. I can listen to most music, barring screamy/foul/whiny stuff. Although I don't have a true ear, I really enjoy classical music and going to symphony concerts. Classical music calms my mind right down. Dvorak's Serenade for Strings is one of my favorites.
I've fallen in love once, a long time ago. Although the love didn't last, the experience was a gift because I had been thoroughly skeptical that it was a real thing. It would be nice to find again someday.
Screen-wise, old black and white movies are often favorites. I'll argue until the end of time that The West Wing is the best piece of television writing ever produced. Most superhero flicks are a fun romp. It's really hard for me to separate myself from the characters on screen, so I tend to avoid realistic violence. Big emotions on screen tend to strike particularly hard; I'm definitely a crier. Most recently I enjoyed (and cried at) Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Physically, I'm short, with straight brown hair past my shoulders, blue eyes, a small upturned nose, and freckled white skin. I believe the polite phrase these days is thicc, but to cover all the bases I could also be described as curvy, a lil chubby, and slightly overweight. I rock 50s style dresses and would fit right into a Renaissance painting.
Wanna be friends? If you got this far, put PRIDE in your message :)

2023.06.03 03:20 KindofDone I have no life - I'm only living for the sake of my parents but every now and then I think about just putting myself first and finally letting go. CW: Dark

If I was to describe my life, I would say it has mostly been like a waking coma, especially in recent years. Every day is the same. I exist without purpose, not living, just dragging out the days. Stalling pretty much so that I go one more day without ending it all, and then another and then another. I continue to stall and stall and stall and stall and stall and life goes on. People get older, I get older and soon we’ll all die. That’s an inevitability.
I say this all the time but when I ask people why live if in the end we are only going to die? They answer: life is about the journey, not the destination but, what if I’m not enjoying the journey? What if the journey has no flavour to it, no fun? I always found this saying weird because when I think of going places, the journey has never been my favourite part, in fact it’s the part I dread. It’s stressful, boring, uncomfortable – you get the point. So, if my life isn’t about the journey or the destination what am I living for? It’s kind of like I’m just stalling a lot of the time. Living one more day, drawing out this painful existence 24 hours longer just in case things get better. Sure I have good days or days when I’m not depressed and spending my time crying or sleeping to escape reality. But they’re not much special. I don’t accomplish anything substantial enough to satisfy me and while I’m having these good days and bad days life continues to pass me by.
I’m turning 21 in less than 2 weeks and that will change nothing other than the fact that another year of my life will have disappeared into the void, unretrievable, and still, I remain where I am. Day in day out everything is the same. I wake up, I waste time, I nap, I eat, I waste more time, I sleep. I feel like throwing a tantrum sometimes. GIVE ME BACK MY CHILDHOOD! GIVE ME BACK THOSE “BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE”!! I want it. I want what I didn’t have but am told I was supposed to have. I want a life! I want a purpose! I want meaning. I’m not ready to grow up, I’m not ready for my parents to die, I’m not ready for anything because I haven’t experience anything, I haven’t lived and learned! It’s like my whole life has been a waking coma and it continues!
How do I keep smiling when I know there will never be another family holiday with all my siblings grown up now. Or when I know that whether I like it or not one day I won’t have a mum and dad or maybe they won’t have me. I’m not sure who’s going first to be honest. I don’t think I want to stick around to become an orphan. I still feel like a child, I still need them. I want a redo, a second chance, for something to change right now just anything please just don’t leave me like this I can’t stand it anymore. I want a life. I don’t want any more time to pass me by. I can’t stand it.
I. WANT. MY. LIFE.
Other people got one, where was the one I was promised?! It’s cruel to bring me into existence only for existence to be continuous dull pain. If I am going to be alive, then give me what comes with it! Give me a life! Otherwise, why was I even born? When you ask for a sandwich, you expect the bread. When you are brought into existence, you expect a life. So where is mine. I want it and I want it now. In fact I want it more than now. I want it 20 years ago!
I know people have had it worse than me but that doesn’t stop this fact from making me sad – most if not all of my childhood was stolen from me due to undiagnosed autism, misunderstanding and lack of awareness of mental health and of course, both of those things existing inside my brain. I’ve had OCD and anxiety since I was around 7 years old. Obviously, I’ve been autistic all my life. Then the depression and other disorders came in too, just to add some toppings to my ice cream sundae of suffering through existence. I think the time that upsets me the most though is when I lost the ability to leave the house. I wasn’t in classes like all the other kids, I was sat in a room, reading because we hadn’t found a solution to my inability to attend lessons yet. I didn’t play outside, go shopping, have day trips. When my family suggested a holiday and I agreed as soon as it was booked it felt like the world had ended. I screamed and cried, and I mean that literally. That memory is hazy as my brain was just turning itself inside out. I remember how I beat my fists on my bed, curled into a ball and screamed, tried to destroy things, said awful things that I can still hear myself saying in my head. The memory of it is so painful it makes me want to scream and cry all over again even though it’s been over 5 years since then.
Anyway, that day marked the end of it all for real, it was kind of the nail in my coffin. From that day it was a given that I don’t go outside, I don’t go on holiday, I don’t have a life. What were supposed to be the best years of my life were just monotony. The same thing day in day out. If anything school was nice in a way (once I got online classes that is) because at least then the days had meaning but now as a 20 year old on disability benefits, I don’t really have anything to break up the days.
I just exist and I really, really hate it. Throw me a bone here or just let me go. Don’t hang me on a tether and leave me to rot. I really just want the world to let me go if this is the cards I’m dealt, I’m ready to fold.

2023.06.03 03:19 Commercial_Ad5161 Planning for the future

Currently rent a one bedroom apartment with my lady. Nothing fancy, not in a city, but it’s overpriced. We’ve had constant issues here (mainly flooding), and we’d love to buy a house. It’s not realistic for us right now, so we plan to resign our lease instead of complicating things and dealing with a move.
We are nowhere near buying a house, but we like to dream. I have basic house remodeling and construction skills, but I’m the type who will figure out a job instead of paying someone. I’m about to start saving for a down payment, but we’re a long way off. I want us to buy a house that needs some work. Keep in mind that I’ll need approval from my female counterpart, so I can’t buy a dump. Most homes in our area are around $250K, but I’d prefer to stay around $200K if possible.
I’ve been working on my finances for the past year, and I’ve finally gotten to a position where I can start saving money. I’d like to start getting information on the home buying process, so we’re well informed when the time comes. Besides saving money, is there anything I should do during the 1-2 years that it will take?
What should I be researching now? What loans are best? What lenders are best? Should I reach out to friends who are in real estate? I don’t know where to start.
Any advice is appreciated!!

2023.06.03 03:18 megaman445 wrote an essay on a mixed grappling ruleset that might be cool. It's a long read so thanks to anyone who sticks it out! (also posted on bjj and judo)

Grappling can be exciting to audiences because a wide syllabus of techniques means no two grappling matches ever look the same. That said, striking will always capture the eye of the masses because grappling can be slow paced, and include techniques and rules that people don’t understand. There could be a way to create a mainstream (or at least larger) market for sport grappling viewership, but it would require a new sport which irons out the deficiencies of popular grappling sports using new rules and ways to win.
MMA has rapidly drawn global obsession in a matter of decades, with ONE FC being the second most popular global sports organization by social media views last year just behind the NBA, and UFC being the fifth. One reason for its initial popularity was due to the inherent intrigue of different fighting styles clashing. The MMA rules are designed so fighters of many backgrounds can compete against one another by simply not competing for the same result. A victory can come by submission, knockout, or points, and points can be won with effective grappling or striking. This means even a completely uninitiated viewer can understand the strategies each fighter might use upon learning of their background. If a kickboxer is standing across from a wrestler, the audience can expect that the former will be attempting a win via standing strikes, and the latter will try to take it to the mat. Contrast this with other sports where the athletes are both expected to be proficient in the same skills, and are competing for the same result, and the intrigue is gone. Finally, of course, MMA is popular due to the sensational suddenness of the knockout. There is no touchdown so great in football, or three pointer from such distance in basketball, that it ends the game immediately, and this constant brutal risk of a brush with mortality, the end of the fight, and the bruised egos ensuing is a source of riveting suspense. The last two paragraphs have given a blueprint for the problems to solve and values to strive for in mixed grappling: multiple stylistic backgrounds competing against one another for different results, with a sudden and exciting way to end matches sooner than expected, and hopefully a faster pace and less confusing rules than those of popular grappling sports today.
The grappling sports I will draw inspiration from in order of popularity are Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Greco Roman Wrestling, and Folkstyle Wrestling. Across these sports, each have different ways to win on the ground, with some favoring the submission and some favoring the pin. The reason why a pin is a win in most grappling styles is that, in a combat situation, being on top and in control is inherently advantageous. This is for two reasons: The top combatant can freely stand up, and can more effectively strike and damage the bottom combatant. Those reasons, however, only exist in real combat: a grappler has no motive to escape the entanglement, and no strikes are permitted in sport. Pins are useful as an artificial reason to value top position, and to express control. In BJJ, where pins are not scored at all, submission is the only way to finish a match. Half or more high percentage submission techniques are done from bottom position, so BJJ athletes often would rather be on bottom than top. This makes matches boring because to obtain top control an athlete generally needs a takedown, whereas if one’s goal is to be on bottom they must simply sit down and allow themselves to be mounted. This is a common and despised tactic in BJJ known as sitting guard.
With this in mind, the question between submission and pin becomes a question of using a less realistic method of victory, or using a method that incentivizes athletes to forgo the most explosive and exciting part of a grappling match (the takedown). A submission, however, is still a better end to a grappling match both because it is a simulated incapacitation rather than a mere expression of dominant top control, and because BJJ fighters would be at a severe disadvantage if they could lose to pins. These listed problems with submission grappling could be lessened or fixed by borrowing two rules from folkstyle wrestling. A stalling call in folkstyle comes when a downed wrestler makes no effort to stand up, which can result in point deductions or disqualification. This would discourage sitting guard, but not aggressive bottom tactics, like attempting sweeps and submissions. Riding time, in folkstyle, is a scoring system where a timer starts for the wrestler on top, and they gain points for every minute that this timer is going until control is lost. This could apply whenever a grappler is in full mount, side control, or back control. These two rules could make ground grappling feel and look more like a fight, with grapplers rigorously vying for control, and it would mean that, with the right tactic, wrestlers could compete and win on the ground against submission artists. By scoring takedowns, and staying on top, a wrestler could win by points. Of course BJJ fighters still have the advantage on the ground, being that this tactic risks submission at any moment.
All of these sports differ on the ground much more than on the feet, stand up exchanges being won by takedown, but they do use very different types of takedowns with different rules surrounding holds and grips. To indulge you with a personal anecdote, my father, who knows nothing about grappling, was once waxing unimpressed about a martial arts event he saw while watching the olympics. He described it as “two guys competing to undress each other as fast as possible, then stopping to put their clothes back on, and then going again; I didn’t get the point.” I realized immediately that this was a scathingly accurate description of Judo. Judo rulemakers, throughout the 2000s, tried to make a grappling ruleset that was entertaining. Many less exciting takedowns and gripping techniques that led to stalling or slow matches were disallowed in the hope that athletes would be forced into using only high amplitude big throws. What happened is a heap of nonsensical rules for grips and contact that cause most matches to have very few actual takedowns scored or even attempted. Just because only a certain moveset is legal doesn’t mean those moves are any easier to land, so placing restrictions on fighters for any reason other than safety makes for passive, defensive, and low scoring matches. The trick to making a ruleset that emphasizes entertainment, is not by making rules but rewards.
Mixed grappling will have no restrictions except those that promote safety, but it will have a different scoring system. Judo and Greco Roman Wrestling don’t treat all takedowns equally, both having powerful throws that score higher than regular takedowns. In Greco it is the “five point throw”, and in Judo the legendary “ippon”. An ippon throw is scored on power, speed, and the opponent landing on their back. The qualification in Greco for a five pointer is a high amplitude throw where the opponent is lifted in a beautiful arc, and lands on their back. In folkstyle and other martial arts the back landing is also valued, but the reason for this is not clear. It could be that standing up from one’s front is easier than one’s back, but a front landing also means facing away from the attacker. Perhaps it is not for combat realism but for safety, as one can roll out of a back landing. In practice, though, this probably makes matches less safe, as the thrown contort themselves into a front-landing rather than focusing on safe landings. In mixed grappling, an ippon throw shall be an immediate win to the match scored on power, speed, and the opponent being lifted off their feet, back-landing not required. Judo and Greco could be more competitive, taking out relentless wrestlers early, however, an athlete confident in submissions could still pull guard, a possibly economic sacrifice of top position to avoid the chance of ippon.
Finally, upon deliberation here are the mixed grappling rules and scoring system. To solve passivity, folkstyle riding time and stalling calls have been introduced. Grip Fighting and takedowns are as unregulated as safely possible. The brutal excitement of a knockout is captured in judo’s ippon. With these changes, all popular styles can compete evenly by not competing for the same result. The three avenues to victory each favor different grappling backgrounds. The relevance of submission is still paramount, but wrestlers can use mat control, takedowns, and cardio to outwork their opponent by points, and Greco or judo athletes can win by ippon. Under these rules, there could be a best in the world, or of all time, in grappling. The best fighters are in MMA, and the best strikers in kickboxing, but what yardstick works for grappling? Gordon ryan is the best submission artist, but in hand fighting or takedowns he wouldn’t make college wrestling. The best striker wouldn’t be found in boxing, because like in all grappling sports, it just focussed on one aspect of the game. So not only is mixed grappling made for entertainment, but an emergent consequence would be the title of best grappler in the world.

Chapter 2: In Inertia

In this chapter I took inspiration from a very creative venlil who decided to remain anonymous
---
Memory Transmission Subject: Kos, Venlil Civilian
Date [Standardized Human Time]: July 12 2136
It happened in a fraction of a second.
I was on my ship, traveling FTL in a subspace. I served as a captain of an interplanetary transporter Fertility. On board I carried loads of green fruits destined for a venlil colony where they meant to ripen upon arrival. Now they were exploding from the vacuum.
My very ship was torn into pieces within an instant. There was no time for my brain to process what happened. I braced myself for a slow death. I felt the oxygen leaving my vessel and temperature dropping rapidly. I felt pain in my chest.
Death… never came to me. I remain seated in my chair and the pain begun to subside. I watched as inertia took hold of my cockpit, lifting everything around me. The sight was bewildering, but I still don’t know why I wasn't suffocating. I released my harness and floated out of the room. Behind the doors was a dark hallway. The power was long gone so I decided to walk straight instead of trying to breach the doors in the darkness. At the end of a hallway, I reached an intersection. Only one of these tunnels had a light at the end, which was the way I chose.
Was this the afterlife? Was I dead, about to meet the creator? I was wondering as I floated through the tunnel. The light was just a reflection of what’s behind a corner. When I peeked, I saw that the entire vessel was torn in a half. The further corridor was abruptly cut by a precipice. I could even see the generator room that wasn’t spared by a sweeping force. I drifted across the ship, awestruck by the surreal scene. It was when I noticed that I had full control over the direction of my floating in inertia, which was against the laws of physics, more akin to out of body experiences.
And so I found myself suspended between two halves of my ship, unable to fathom the reason for this purgatory state. I lived a good life. I wandered out to open space, to try and see my ship in full. I noticed another object lingering close to my ship. It was a wreck of what looks like a space buoy. It collided with my ship, which means I was torn out of subspace before that.
Was that an FTL disruptor? It started working a moment before I passed through it. That was the best theory I could have thought of. I decided to investigate the buoy to test my hypothesis. The hull of the buoy had imprinted lettering in venlang.
MADE ON VENLIL PRIME
The name of my homeworld did not give any answers. I needed to look further. I tried to check behind the hull of my ship and I was met with an immense pain in my paw. It was illuminated by this system’s star. I pulled my hand behind the hull and hugged it, trying to ease the pain. Even after hiding in the shadow of a shipwreck, the pain was so unbearable, it was clawing on my senses.
I felt tears accumulating around my eyes, they were also affected by inertia, rendering my vision blurry. I returned to my cockpit. There was nothing rational in this place. I just wanted to see my family and friends. Whatever deity rules this universe, I was pleading for their mercy. The void remained indifferent.
When my feelings calmed, I began to think of my crew. They were still on this ship. I went to look for them on the other half of the vessel. Behind the precipice was a maze of corridors. A faint beam of light penetrated through the broken hull at the starboard side of my ship. It means that any illuminated area was off limits. Most of my crewmates must have been ejected, because I only found someone at the stern. It was my FTL engineer, Qualen. He was pale from freezing and suffocating. His eyes were popping out of the sockets, and his mouth expressed a pure terror. I wondered where his soul could go, or be. Maybe he didn’t die yet. Perhaps I was the first to die, and time passed unbearably slowly for the rest.
I returned to my cockpit resigned. I decided to wait for something to happen or to think of some bright idea. None of it ever came. I only noticed more anomalies. The objects that floated in inertia were now frozen in time. Even Qualen’s body wasn’t moving across the corridor. I started experimenting with the new laws. I threw an object and watched as its momentum was decelerating. Everything was trying to reach the frozen-in-time state. A thought came to me, that I am in fact Faster Than Light, and the entire world has come to halt. If that was true, then why was the starlight so painful?
I went exploring the front part of the ship. Despite being engulfed in darkness, the sun was my enemy now. I’ve reached the front sleeping quarters, which were reserved for the highest rank personnel, including captain. I’ve found a journal on a shelf. I returned to the cockpit to use the remaining light to read it. The journal belonged to Vesen, the first officer. I couldn’t find her anywhere. Maybe her body was floating in a dark room, or she was engulfed by the rays of the star and I couldn’t reach her. Maybe she was ejected and she disappeared forever. I decided she wouldn’t mind if I read through her journal.
Most pages contained a standard overview on Fertility’s state. Fuel, food, water, oxygen, power, crew. In the middle Vesen started writing more personally.
“Day 7 [July 10 2016]
I’ve read thoroughly through the crewmates’ dossier. There are individuals acting strange. I have seen the rations shrinking slightly faster than in the past 7 days. Even the social meetings were dropped more rarely, or very late. Those are the tiny hints for something bad. There is a predator disease developing on Fertility. I couldn't find it without commissioning a brain scan, so I had to guess based on the dossier.
There was one individual with an uneasy past. The FTL engineer Qualen was caught in a ln arxur invasion on one of the colonies. He barely survived and escaped by hiding in an unexplored by exterminators forest. He was hiding among wild predators, until the arxur took every survivors as a cattle. I am positive that Qualen was afflicted with predator disease after that time, and now he's spreading that behavior among the oblivious crew. In a meantime i must isolate him until we return to Venlil Prime”
I was shocked after reading this. Qualen had a predator disease? I have known him for many years, he couldn't possibly be dangerous. He was like a brother to me! His name would have been cleared if we ever reached civilization and brain scanned him.
But then again, he was the only other venlil who wasn't ejected from Fertility. Is he the reason I can not rest? It must be, there's literally nothing else on this shipwreck!
I have realized the purpose of this place. It’s a judgment. The sun was an instrument of execution, like a flamethrower for exterminators. I have to incinerate the body of a predator diseased crewmate before I can finally reach peace. The danger keeps me trapped from eternal rest, I have to burn it! I rushed out of the cockpit and reached the familiar precipice.
And I froze. The frame of the hull on the other side was lit by a star, locking me out of the stern. The rays were slowly traveling towards me. It made no sense! Everything was supposed to be frozen in time, but we are still orbiting around the system! I have returned to a dark hallway to gather my thoughts. I had to cross the precipice and burn the body of Qualen, but to do this I need to walk through hell itself. The alternative was to wait until the sun passes me unnoticed. I could not see any good spot to hide, as the ship was full of reflective surfaces. Both choices are equally risky but I chose the first option. It would be a problem if the chance I had was also time sensitive.
I returned to the great crack and took a good look at the spotlit surface of the corridor. I mimicked taking a deep breath for good luck and launched.
I felt like I was boiled in water, when I dived into the starlight. Whatever I tried to do on my most primal instincts, I was thrown out to square one, and even now the pain did not abandon me. I screamed into the aether, floated erratically, anything to let the endorphins ease my suffering. It took a long time to find relief, and I remembered that I don’t possess a body anymore and no natural pain relievers are produced in my brain. The only thing that suffered was my very soul.
When I returned to the precipice, I saw the starlight was already licking on my part of a ship. In no time I will be caught by dawn. I thought of going outside of my ship, while I still could. The reflective interior couldn’t be safer than the vast space. But I still could not outrun the starlight. I would be hiding in an umbra of Fertility. If I stray too far, I will be caught in penumbra. More than that, I couldn’t expect it, there are no reference points in space.
It was too late to do anything now. There was only one thing to test. The starlight might be an absolution. Maybe if I’m engulfed in it, I will be able to find the real afterlife. Absolution was not a concept from the venlilian faith, but again I can not think of any religion where the star smolders the soul of the wronged. Whenever I wanted to test it or not, the rays were approaching through the reflective walls of the hallways. I returned to the cockpit to wait for my fate. I thought of just closing the doors, but the electricity could not work and I was in inertia, I had no way to grapple and pull the doors together manually. I could only sit in my seat and wait.
What if there’s no good ending for me? If the star was an act of extermination of a soul, only a predator hell was awaiting me. Will I suffer for nothing forever? Will the souls of predators eat me until I stop existing? Will they keep eating me until the end of time? Or maybe they acknowledge me as one of them, as I could also have predator disease? Do predators even have souls? I was caught in a stream of thoughts as the starlight was closing in. I launched to the furthest corner, buying as much time as I can. I didn’t think the reflections even allowed the light to reach me. It seemed like the starlight was approaching me no matter what. If that’s the case, wouldn’t they reach Qualen’s body as well?
I had to stop that thought, as I was out of time for pondering. I took another nonexistent breath, closed my eyes and tensed all my muscles.
It was impossible to describe the agony I felt at that moment. My impulses forced me out to the center of the room, and my entire body was exposed to the scorching force of the star. My very soul was screaming out of my control and I was torn out of my mind. I lost my vision and heard ringing in my ears from the noise of my own throat.
Soon the blurry vision returned to me, but I was still screaming in pain. Through the pain I saw I was in a completely different room. There was a spotlight above me, and the walls were dim. I was laying on a bed that felt like it was made of cracked concrete. Everything that touched my body and the light itself was painful. Even the ungroomed hair was piercing through my skin. I heard a hum in my head, coming from a translation implant. There was someone in that room speaking an alien language. The figure appeared in my range of vision. It was tall and wearing a coat. It said that the others will come in a quarter of a paw, and that everyone was expecting me for a long time.
It came closer and I felt numbness as I deciphered the face of a blurry figure. It had front-facing eyes! IT WAS A PREDATOR! It truly must be a predator hell! I tried to move, back off, run! But my entire body was heavy. It felt like I hadn’t slept in a whole life. All my limbs, tail and neck were completely exhausted! The pain could not mellow either. I was trapped in a painful reality, awaiting to be tortured forever! The monstrum said that I must not worry about anything and allow my body to rest. It finally introduced itself as a human.

2023.06.03 03:17 Zehnpae Valkyria Chronicles - (The Good, The Bad, The Ugly)

Valkyria Chronicles is a tactical RPG developed by Sega. Released in 2008, it answered the burning question of how different WW2 would have been had the Japanese been a part of it. Wait...that doesn't sound right.
We play as Squad 7, a group of misfits thrown into the military effort against the invading army of the East Europan Imperial Alliance. Thanks to our tank, the Edelweiss, and our superior tactics we soon begin to make headway into defending our home and driving back the enemy.
Gameplay is similar to most TRPG's. You'll command several troops on a battlefield. The view will be from slightly behind the unit you're currently controlling in a 3rd person view. Differing from most other TRPG's, the action is in a semi-real time/semi-turn based fashion. You'll have an AP bar that controls how much you can do during your turn, but enemies will fire in you in real time as you move about. Switching to firing mode does pause the action so that you can take time to line up your shots.
The Good
The combat is loads of fun. The variety of characters, weapons and strategies you can use is impressive. The hybrid action/turn based combat works quite well. You have to be mindful of where you're going, where enemies are. Choosing between trying to take out an enemy at range and risk missing/wasting actions, or moving close to potentially sustaining fire in the meantime.
The story is...surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting much from anime Axis and Allies but there's a severity to war that's expressed. Bad things happen and sometimes it feels generally hopeless, something I appreciate in games that are simulating a war. Many of the characters grow and change as the game progresses. Normally when I play JRPGs I spend most of the story rolling my eyes but here I only sighed a handful of times.
The PC port is well done. There's some "this was a console game originally" jank such as having to use WASD to navigate menus but nothing that really hurt my feelings. The art style is gorgeous. The voice acting is on point. The music is really good. It's honestly a treat to play.
The Bad
The rewards you get for completing missions is almost entirely based on how quickly you beat a level. Nothing else matters. Full clearing, damageless, etc...pointless. If you want to get the best reward you want to rush whatever the mission goal is. As such the game actively encourages you to not engage in most of what makes combat fun. Just take your most OP scout and race to the objective. Strikes me as a bit ironic that taking your time, keeping your soldiers safe, getting them experience in battle is the worst thing you can do if you want to power them up.
The Ugly
There's some fan service, which you may or may not appreciate depending on your admiration for JRPGs. The "Let's all go to the beach!" scene is a bit much. It's not the worst though so you can mostly just sigh and move on.
You can't fast forward cutscene dialog or enemy turns. Given the clunky UI on the PC port and how often the game wants to confirm you want to do what you said you want to do, there's a lot of sitting around and waiting.
Final Thoughts
Once I stopped trying to get max rank on every mission, the game got significantly more fun. Getting B-rank on most missions with the occasional C-rank meant I never fell too far behind. Doing the occasional skirmish helped. It was a relatively short game but it was one of those 'it ended before I could get bored of it' things which I appreciated. An easy recommend for TRPG fans looking for something a little different than the typical Xcom format.
Thank you for reading!
Interesting Game Fact!
Remasters, re-releases and second runs of the game have sold significantly better than the original release. The original US release sold less than 40k units. The PC release managed to (for a few days at least) out-sell games like Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Assassins Creed Unity.

2023.06.03 03:17 Content-Pension-607 30[m4f] Mississippi, horror movies and video games?

Please be willing to move off app
Also local would be awesome
Also just started playing osrs again so if you wanna play on that it would be cool.
Seriously getting tired of the same old thing. Not trying to be an ass or sound like I’m complaining just being blunt. There’s bots, ghosts, people promoting themselves, it’s honestly exhausting. Also I’ve had a really really stressful two months and really just want someone to actively text and talk to and not play games. If you want to know more I’ll tell you but I don’t really want to write about it on this . Anyway about me, I’m really into horror movies, Pokémon, and virtual pets like tamagotchi, so if you like one of those I’ll probably nerd out. I have a switch and ps5 totally down to play some monster hunter or the Snes classic games together or smash bros or whatever. Regardless, I’m down to try to build real bonds, I’ll talk about just about anything, we can watch dumb horror movies and talk about how stupid it is or watch crazy documentaries and so the same. We can be flirty, talk about crazy stuff, do whatever I don’t really care as long as it’s interesting. I just want someone honest and real. This concludes my Ted talk.

2023.06.03 03:16 mariapizza I made a mistake that might cost the job of an enemy, and the friendship of many colleagues

(throwaway account) (all names are fake) (I am being vague on purpose, please do not try to offer me legal consultation; all I need are words of kindness)
I really like my coworkers. They are some of the smartest, most creative people I have ever met. I have grown a lot working with them and I have nothing but respect for them. We've even hung out outside of work, and they are a very fun and welcoming group. One of my coworkers in particular, Jane, became a real friend.
We also have a manager, Sharon. To call Sharon our "enemy" like I did in the title is a bit of a stretch, but Shanon has been making too many blunders and mean comments and refusing to take responsibility for her mistakes, and many people are mad at her. Some would even like to see her be fired.
Last month, Sharon did something to Jane that was a dick move at best, and illegal at worst. Jane was devastated. Jane confided in me at the time, and it was really upsetting to see such a dear colleague being mistreated by the company. Many people wanted Sharon to be fired for this, and even Jane seemed excited about the idea.
Jane had made a comment to me about her situation, which I figured was "on the record". It was not. I later referenced that comment to one of our higher-ups, a director named Emma. Emma was so enraged at the news that she threatened to fire Shanon for what she'd done to Jane. I later told Jane about it, thinking she'd be glad to hear that Shanon might be fired - but Jane was furious.
Jane is a very kind and reasonable woman. Even at the height of her anger, she offered me mercy, and helped me understand why what I'd done was unethical. I should not have shared her comment; it was not mine to share. To make matters worse, in this specific context, the comment even paints Jane in a bad light - something I'd never ever ever intended to happen. Our director Emma did not express any resentment towards Jane, only towards Shanon; but Jane never wanted to be seen as a person who makes comments to others, and I'd just accidentally shown Emma that Jane did just that. Jane was terrified of losing her job.
Jane was right. What I'd done was horrible. I had been criticized of doing similar things in the past - getting too caught up in other people's pain, to the point where I started seeing it as my own, or trying to "mediate" issues between different people that had never really asked me to do it - but I'd never done anything as serious as what I'd done to Jane.
This was a wake-up call. I'd hurt the feelings of Jane, the person who least deserved it. She'd been going through such a hard time after the whole Shanon situation already, and all I did was make matters worse.
I have to step away from my coworkers. I cannot let their pain become my own. I cannot let a mistake like this happen again. I value them so much, and I really enjoy their company; but I've been a liability this whole time, and I had no idea.
The shame and regret I feel are eating me alive. I cannot look at myself in the mirror. The last thing Jane wants is for things to be weird at work, so I douse myself in medicine to calm the brain before I get to the office, and manage to be normal for a couple of hours before having a panic attack when I reach my car. I cannot let Jane know about this - she'd think I was playing the victim and making this about me. It'd just make her feel worse.
Jane is very kind, and hasn't told anyone about my blunder. She is not trying to turn people against me.
I told another close colleague (Rachel) that I'm stepping away from the coworker-friend group for a bit; I even left the non-work group chat we have. Rachel was so supportive and understanding. She thinks it's for mental health reasons. She has no idea it's because she'd been talking to a monster this entire time.
I cannot be friends with my coworkers anymore; not until I learn to separate my personal life from my work life, which is not happening anytime soon. Besides, I know they will one day find out about what I did to Jane, and they'll be rightfully mad at me for sharing her secrets - if I distance myself from them before this happens, they can at least rest easy knowing I have no secrets on them I could share.
I mourn the loss of their friendship. I loved them, I really did. I'm so sorry. I've been so naive, so dangerous in my ignorance this entire time. The kindness Jane has shown me, even while furious at me; the support my coworkers have given me through thick and thin; I cry because I now know I never deserved it, and I'll never have it again.
I have other things going for me; I have a family and non-work friends and hobbies and stuff. My life is not over. But a part of me, a part that I'd managed to trick people into trusting, has died - and it had to die. I just wish I hadn't hurt Jane in the process. I cannot hope for my coworkers to forgive me; I want them to forget me. I want them to think of me so neutrally, so little, with so little sincere love, that they are never threatened by me again.

2023.06.03 03:16 Zealousideal_Draw715 my forest horror story

I've been thinking about posting this for a long time and I figured I should put it here even though I don't know how this app works but after seeing a Mr ballen video with an eerily similar story to mine this video: https://youtu.be/kkFuZ-_sPP8 where I had the almosy same location and same figure I knew it was time to share it even if no one sees this I just need it off my back. Another reason that I haven't posted this yet is to put it quite frankly I'm not a reliable source, I'm bipolar and I've been known to hallucinate so it's be fair if you didn't believe me, but I did have my cousin with me and she verified everything I saw but still the decision is up to you. This was in the summer or near fall of 2022 me, 19 non binary and my dad took a trip to Oregon for a camping trip & memorial of my godfather. For context, my godfather was my aunt's husband and he died the same time in 2021 and we had a funeral in Oregon but it was essentially ruined when the guy we chose to speak for it implied my godfather was in hell and tried to turn us all to Christianity or else we would end up like him. So we decided to have a second one that was smaller and more intimate with less than half the amount - mostly family, taking place at a campground where my godfather and aunt went many times and had fond memories there. So, from Denver to Oregon, my dad and I flew and stayed at my aunts for a few days before making the trip up to Lewis and Clark Park in Washington, close to Oregon. We met up with another group of my family from Maui & Idaho. I remember the drive up, it was through a bright green thick forest that made me nervous being so far from anything, but I guess that's the charm too. I hadn't gone camping for a long time, so after helping put up the tent and a good meal, I asked my dad for a whiteclaw, which he granted, I only had one, though. After a while, I felt good and chaotic, so after dancing with my younger cousins, it got dark and me and one of my closer cousins, 14, went off into the forest to summon demons. Okay, so you might be thinking "wtf" but look, I don't actually believe in demons, and I didn't think it would work. It was just to be scary and rebellious. So we sat down in a small clearing near a path where my cousin took a bath and body works candle, lit it, and put it between us. I began mystical waving my hands over it, and spouting gibberish I reckoned was similar to chanting. We had a good laugh, then moved on and went back to the sight. Later in the night when everyone else went to sleep me and my cousin decided to summon demons but be more real this time, I looked up a demon summoning spell that had a good looking latin chant and even though we had none of the materials except the candle and a hotdog bun to sacrifice we still spoke it and burned the hotdogs bun but after nothing happened we shrugged it off and just went to talking. We talked about anything and everything for hours until I started feeling really bad. I can't really explain it well it's like anxiety, the kind where it feels like a weight is in your stomach and it's harder to breathe. I felt like we were being watched, which was fair since we were surrounded by dark dense forests. I began flashing my light around, not exactly looking but looking to make sure something wasn't there. My cousin picked up on my fear and looked around too, and now we had two beams of light pointed into the forest. I began to feel a little better as there was nothing immediate until I pointed my flash up. That's when I saw it. A creature. Pale white maybre grey with dark void-like eyes staring at us perched like a monkey on a high branch in a spruce tree. I froze. I went through everything in my mind. Was this because we summon demons? We didn't even do it right... Was this some kind of animal? It can't be, it looks too humanoid. It looks exactly like those skin walker pictures you can find on creepy forums, but it was right there in front of me. Was I hallucinating? Again, I have been known to hallucinate, but I never had before so vividly. Then I remembered my cousin. If they saw it, then it was definitely real, and I'm not hallucinating, so I told my cousin to look up where my flashlight was pointing. They froze, too. "Do you see that?" I asked. I can't remember exactly what my cousin said, but it was something like "What is that?" Or "It looks like a demon." Still, I needed more proof they were seeing the same thing. "What color is it?" I asked. "White." They said. That was more than enough for me. We began to rush away, taking the candle and running to the area where the tents were, I would look behind me and see the figure was now on the ground standing tall, at least 5 feet, it was tall and skinny. Every time I looked back, it would seem to stop, but when I would look again, it would be standing closer, making its way to us. My group and her group set up tents on different paths on the campground, far enough where I felt like we could make it if we ran and didn't look back. I stopped my cousin, where our paths diverged, and told her to run straight to her tent before counting down. "One, two, three!" I said, and ran to my tent and didn't look back. I made it to my tent and accidentally woke my father, who said, "What were you guys doing? You were keeping the whole camp up!" But I didn't want to elaborate. "I'll tell you in the morning." I said, climbing into my sleeping bag. Then and there, I felt okay, I was now surrounded by family, and surely nothing would get me with them around. I texted my cousin to make sure they got back alright, and they did, so I settled for the night, but i didn't get right to sleep. My uncle scared me a bit when he went up to go to the bathroom, and for the whole night I kept hearing this noise right outside my tent it was like a small animal was digging and fumbling around and whenever I would move it would go away. It was right near my head, and it was scaring the shit out of me, but I eventually got to sleep when it mostly stopped. I woke up the next morning and almost immediately headed back to the fire pit where me and my cousin and I were when we saw the figure. It was bright out so I figured I can look in the space i saw it in and could figure out if it really had been an animal or maybe some kind of bird nest but I saw nothing like that, in fact, what I saw was almost a clearing on the exact branch it was on, like something big had been there, like it had been there. When my cousin woke, we confirmed we saw the same thing in the same spot. So what do you think? Was it some kind of skinwalker creature from the forest? Did we accidentally summon a demon with our bogus ritual via hotdog bun? Did we both hallucinate the same thing? Was it an animal? Guess we'll never know.
